There's no mistaking Marc Bolan's voice, it's so distinctive. From '67 to the early 70s were a fantastic time for music and T Rex were a major part of it. It was tragic to lose Marc at such an early age.
Marc apparently produced this single himself, on the wave of his massive success (outside of America) which, at least at the start of the 1970s, made him a frontrunner in the UK ahead of David Bowie and almost everyone. He's still widely celebrated today as a kind of rock and roll outsider, who pioneered the state of 'Glam Rock' but also became a victim of its demise in the UK. I still think if he was around today he would be massive.
Tony Visconti produced the song, and all the Albums from 1968 ( Tyrannosaurus Rex then T.Rex ) up to Zinc Alloy 1974 and all the hit singles from 1970-73.
Marc Bolan I absolutely loved the guy ever since I was 14, I miss him so much, his music, his attitude, his dress style etc. I always would look forward to his tunes coming out, he made the best intros too, every song has a great intro. As soon as I heard it I thought this is going to be great. Mickey Finn was a major part of T.Rex too sadly missed. Far as I know only Bill the drummer is still around. Steve the bass player has left us too.
Hello. Another great reaction. Yes you are correct. Marc was a huge diva ( but in a good way). He would turn up for an interview purposely a bit late and make a grand entrance wearing something outrageous! But he was an extremely sweet man who loved fairies, goblins and anything to do with magic and fascination.
1971 Hot love t.rex was the start of glam rock. Check out the live version from the film Born to boogie at the empire pool Wembley 1972 , and you'll see what influence they had on music that followed.
I remember watching this as a kid and thinking "I'm going to grow my hair, play guitar, and ride a motorbike. I'm still riding bikes and playing guitar......but the hair fell out years ago 😂
In the early 70s there was the glam rock movement. T. Rex was part of that movement as were other artists such as Roxy Music, Slade, The Sweet and David Bowie. The over-the-top flashy clothing was part of the live presentation. They aimed to put on a show.
You need to check it out Rolan Bolan: Marc´s Bolan son.... when Marc died, David Bowie adopt Rolan likes his godson...and Bowie paid his studies, now Rolan is a musician and singer too
Regarding the comments about who produced the single. First of all this is the German TV studio performance and not the single. Bolan recorded the basic track that eventualy became the single while touring Japan. The basic track was then handed to Tony Visconti who produced the final recording issued as a single in March 1973.
Rha ça me donne envie de me refaire leur discographie ! J’adore ce groupe ❤❤ Rha it makes me want to listen to their discography again! I love this band
Singles by t rex, hot love, solid gold easy action, children of the revolution, jeepster, just a few to get it on with 😂flip side of single releases good too. Baby strange, cadilac, and excellent lifes a gas.

I'm 7 years old again. For me, the greatest era for exciting music and performers who actually performed.

He was an amazing Rock Star. Way ahead of the pack. A Rock God in England at the time. R.I.P. Marc Bolan

Somewhere on youtube, there is a Marc Bolan and Cilla Black duet of Life's A Gas.
THE SINGERS NAME WAS (MARC BOLAN) AND HE DIED IN A CAR CRASH
Awesome!
Marc Bolan was unique, a one off
They made me laugh!
A good live performance but missing the more powerful studio version which includes female backing singers and saxophone.
The female backing singers were Barry St John, Vicki Brown and Sue & Sunny.
You should check out the studio version of this song
It's called Glam Rock.
David Bowie and Placebo do a AWESOME cover from this..!!
One of my all time favs. Thank you for this. Never heard this one live before. They are killing it. Mr.Marc..is a cross between rooster and peacock.
