Great job Koe. Magic & Bird, Luv Em'. They saved the NBA. Pete was the greatest college player ever, but DON'T mess with Larry during the heat of battle. Magic always went to great teams and won. Bird always went to weak teams and transformed them. 3 rings, 3 consecutive MVPs, 3X all-defense, 2X Finals MVP, All-Star MVP, Athlete OTY, Coach OTY, Exec OTY & King of the 40/50/90 club. LEGEND!!!! 🏀
Larry and Pete had great respect for each other. Pete didn’t retire because of Larry. It's kind of silly to say so. I've read that Pete and the coach "didn't see eye to eye" on some things, and that, combined with his knees, persuaded Pete to retire. It's a shame that he wasn't on the team for one more year to get a ring with them.
Pete and Larry didn't have a bad relationship. They actually were friends and had a lot in common. They connected on a deeper level because Pete's mom and Larry's dad both committed suicide. Larry had great respect for Pistol Pete. Maxwell made it sound like something it wasn’t. Pete was on his last legs and had severe knee problems. Both of these guys could really play basketball. Both amazing stories. Both wit so hard to get there.
Larry didn't hate Pete. He looked up to him. They were friends. Pete left because of his age and his health. Larry said things in a funny way. Not in a mean way the way Maxwell paints it.
This Story Is Pretty True, Except 1-Thing, Bird Had Nothing To Do With Pete's Retiring, ha ha ha. Pete's Knee's Were In Such A Bad Way He Even Had To Play With Metal Braces On At Times.

I hated to watch him lose a game. Because he gave it everything he had.

In all fairness, Pete was injured and was outstanding.
