I love how you just giggle at the highlighter on your nose 😂 when I look at old videos I cackle at my makeup sometimes too 😂

It's BAD! When I was doing both booktube and beauty videos...oh man, the makeup was wild.

You're not wrong. I miss them, too. But luckily there are a ton of contemporary readathons now to join. They were the greatest times, though!

The only ones of those that I kept were the School For Good and Evil books. I generally don't keep books after I read them unless I LOVED them, or else I would probably be on my seventh storage unit by now, and I loved those.
Some of the others I unhauled without even reading because I just can't do YA contemporary anymore.

Yeah- I have unhauled a lot of books without reading them. And I got rid of YA that I actually really liked, but know someone else will enjoy more/also now that I've read them. :)

Your commentary about your book reviews was great, but your comments about your make up made my day

I never did finish it, but I enjoyed it as I read it.

I never knew we were this alike in our tastes. If we have both read the book, that is. Of course, there were books we agreed on, but I never thought there were this many. Especially when I hear why you didn't like books, those are often things I don't like either. I remember this one thing with Uprooted where you HATE the book and I was like: eh, I probably read it at exactly the right time for me and really enjoyed it even though it's far from perfect. I'm almost entirely sure it won't really hold up over time and haven't reread the book even though it's still on my shelf. Good times, good times.
It's great to see you're no longer that cautious with your book opinions though. It's way more fun to actually hear opinions instead of just: it was a fine/good read meanwhile you actually hated or disliked it. I'm bad with intonation and I could here it sometimes. It feels way more genuine now. :D
My reaction to Conversion: what even is that? A thriller?
Oh, it's a YA, how unsurprising. LOL
Christina Lauren is hit and miss for me too. I think I have an ebook of The Unhoneymooners, which I really enjoyed. The rest I just listened to the audio. The rest are 3 others.
The Honey-Don't List is a shitshow. In a Holidaze was fun, but nothing special and comes closer to a miss than a hit. But I really enjoyed The Soulmate Equation, mostly because I like random fake sciency concepts that work with a more biology pov. I studied in that field (biomedical sciences and engineering) so I know it's hella fake but I think they pulled off the concept even if the book had its flaws.
And I never look at my old videos. But I'm 100% certain there's no highlighter anywhere on my face because I've never bought one in my life and the only things I sometimes used were lip stain and relatively neutral eye shadow. But why people decided to do high lighter like that is a great question. Something my autistic ass often wonders about A LOT of things people do.
All the romance in this unhaul man. I did not like The Hating Game. Not many authors can properly pull off a workplace rivals to lover. This wasn't one that pulled it off well IMO. I didn't feel the chemistry but also the love interest just never was much of a rival. And the writing. Not my thing. There was just nothing to make it interesting. If you asked me why I didn't DNF, I can't say I know why that was... But I can say:
I like Shipped so much better and that one also is just average. The setting just did a lot for me, especially when the nature came into play.

I love that I feel more authentic to you now. I certainly was cautious about what I said back then, and remain so even now because I'm an author and never want to burn bridges, but I don't mince words anymore. I'm glad we're both reading and thriving with the things we love. :)

@@PagesandPens OH yeah. I get the author thing. I've been considering possibly writing and indie publishing books but even before that became an idea there was a point where I just privated everything that sent out a vibe I don't want to put out in the world. No regrets about that still.
I'm not someone to just rant or get angry and I tried doing reviews like that because it pulls in views. It just felt so icky so I stopped. Similar with hauls, TBRs, and unboxings. So I haven't made content in years. I stopped because I hit a burn out and started a new degree but never came back. It's just fine this way. I would worry less about trying again if I knew I didn't need to find a job still, which is already quite hard.
Why can't I just have a money tree, haha. And if we're starting why couldn't there just be money trees in more than just name (because yes, there's a plant called a money tree or something like it)?
