True, but what is a much more cruel revenge: ending the life of a hated one, or forcing them to watch their loved one's suffering for the remainder of their lives, knowing that they will continue to suffer long after the hated one is dead. Personally, I believe that the latter is far crueler. Also, from a Judeo-Christian perspective, it's actually a much worse fate to be trapped in eternal sleep, rather than simply die. Your soul forever bound to earth, but unable to return to your body. Never to wake, nor move on into God's kingdom. Never finding peace. It's a special form of hell.
@@Araza169 True. Perhaps that's why antiheroes, gray-and-gray moralities, and not-so-evil-after-all-villains are so popular nowadays. Some of us have gotten so used to the classic pure-evil antagonists that understandable motivations or less-than-malicious villains are more relatable to real life. So, they make us feel more sympathetic towards the villain, because we can see ourselves in them, or at least understand why they do what they do.
@@Araza169 I know seeing more complexity in an antagonist is a breath of fresh air for me, but stories like Maleficent proved to me that a villain can be complex, but still misguidedly attempt to hurt their enemy by attacking those they love. But it doesn't mean the villain is then irredeemable. And they can sometimes be so compelling in their very *souls* that they become a protagonist in their own right. In the film, she *does* curse Aurora, but grows to love her like her own, and does everything in her power to save the princess, even if it means risking her own life to do it. Plus, it helps that Auroa's father in this case wasn't just guilty of a social faux pas in not inviting Maleficent to the christening of his infant daughter, like in the original story. No, in this version, he was as much a villain as the dark faery herself, if not more so!

Ok now in part two have the evil sorcerer talk to us in our sleep and grow strangely attached before he falls in love and places a tender kiss on our forehead and wakes us, just like in Malificent

Nah cause with my ADHD mind who has the attention span of a 4 year old and is entertained by the strangest things if someone created a spinning wheel with magic in front of me I would literally just go up and start spinning the wheel. (I actually did that once when I was like 7 at one of those historical reenactment museums because the lady using the wheel noticed I was staring at it with basically stars in my eyes and she let me spin it)
when i started realizing this was a parallel to sleeping beauty my brain went to maleficent's movie and then to the beginning of that and the "*she was a fairy*" meme and the end result is Sorcerer: "Touch the wheel." Me: "sir are you a fairy-"
Just saying, if someone were to offer to put me into a totally deep sleep and I would end up being well rested afterwards, that would be really appealing and worth a thought.😅😂
