She also survived a plane crash in 1949 that killed 35 out of 48 passengers and crew. She nearly had her foot amputated as a result and was told that she wouldn’t be able to dance again. She proved them wrong and after some healing and exercise she continued dancing
That’s because doctors are stupid and arrogant and ignorant and don’t know what they are talking about, she proved how dumb doctors are and how you should take what a doctor says with a grain of sand
It's possible but prob not. I wouldn't be surprised if they used CGI or ai to recreate some of the actors like they did with Peter Cushing in star wars. Bringing him back 40 years after he died
I met all of the at the Wizard of Oz Festival in Chesterton Indiana they were all so sweet :) Jerry and his wife are beyond precious and were so kind. They remember everyone who sees them more than once. And Judy’s stand in told me to not shrink her size for a photo because I was beautiful just as I am and that stays with me forever
I'm 58 & still admit this is 1 of my all time favourite films. I was lucky as a kid in the 70s when as a Christmas treat a local cinema had a weekend of showing the film, so my 1st viewing was on the big screen + i loved it, of course!
That's gotta be so sad being the last of the crew. Reminds me over the years seeing the last of the vets from ww2. There's very few left at this point.
Betty Ann Bruno was the actual last Munchkin to pass away, to the best of my understanding. She died in late July 2023 at age 91. She was well known for being an investigative reporter for KTVU Channel 2 in Oakland CA. She was one of the babies in the bird’s nest. She was a child then and a slightly short adult later but not a little person.
I met one of the munchkins in elementary school back in the 90s. She was a very nice lady. It was a big event for our school and all the classes drew a group pic for her each. I remember she complimented ours while we were making it.
I played Lollipop munchkin #1 in the Broadway national tour of the wizard of Oz when I was a child. I watched this show so many times, I was slightly above the height limit so I hunched my back and they allowed me to perform. Best experience of my life. Till this day no one believes me but I promise it happened. ❤
She also had a uncredited role in the most famous and successful film of all time Gone With The Wind (1939) she is the last known surviving actor from that film
got to meet Jerry years back in Buffalo ny the Musical was traveling and performing at Sheas. The cast came into eat with Jerry at my family's restaurant. The girl playing Dorothy got up and belted out Somewhere over the Rainbow. I've never seen so many people go silent and so many tear up. was a great memory
105! That's so cool! Good for her. She looks good and healthy for someone who's been alive for 10 decades. Someone above must really like her. Wizard of OZ was made in 1939. World War 1 started in 1914 to 1918. She was born in 1919. She was born 1 year after World War 1. So she lived World War 2, peal harbor, Vietnam war, 9 11, Iraq war, Tbe flue, the covid pandemic, and who knows how many presents. This lady has been through it all. She must take really good care of herself or like I said someone up there must like her. I hope she gets to 200.
"...and if you should survive to 105, look at all you'll derive out of being alive. And here is the best part, you have a headstart if you are among the very young at heart".
I hope she lives to see wicked part 2 and whatever may come after that. I wonder if she ever seen that show Emrald City, that was actually pretty good, just got canceled on a cliffhanger.. Tin Man was a good completed series tho
Imagine being alive from 1920 to 2018 and seeing all the technology advances and the world completely change around you. That’s a crazy experience and thought

I met one of the actresses from the Emerald City beauty parlor scene years ago at the Bob's Big Boy in Burbank while we were waiting to be seated. Can't remember how the subject came up!
I never knew until recently that Judy Garland did have a stand in for Dorothy. Back then, the studios didn't like to credit anyone after the main cast so its good she is getting her recognition now.
Talking with Garlands stand in let alone the other cast would be amazing. Not just about the shooting of the film but of Garlands poor treatment. She must have thanked the lord she was merely the stand in. 😢😢😢
she looks great for someone who is 105 !
If I had guessed I would have said she's in her late 80's.
for me it would be like 60 years old or something but fair enough lol

@rwils7925 awww
Not only does she look amazing for her age, but I read that she still teaches dance to this day! What an awesome woman!
The fact that a full-grown adult who played in The Wizard of Oz is still alive is insane.
Jerry's last name is Marin. He was 18 when he got cast. Even told me himself that the suicide on set story is total baloney.
Yeah it was a bird of some sort

Someone actually wondered if any of the cast was gonna be in the Wicked film making a cameo but that film is so old that it's not gonna happen
Well whoever that person is is particularly stupid.

@@muhammadHassan-kj1jy They should have asked Roger Baum or any family member
They had the original actors from wicked though Glinda and Elphaba
They had the og broadway characters atleast
She doesn’t look a day over 80. That’s how you age gracefully. Kudos to her

I can’t imagine she’s in any state to think about how sad it is tbh.
Yeah, a little over 66,000 are left today. Declining day by day. It's weird to think that in our lifetime they're all be all gone. ):
@@MsZelda2012 Thats a weird take. Some people who get that old still have good minds.

What do you mean actual? That actor he named was the last actor with a speaking role who died, not the last munchkin
Her stunt double was a badddiieee
“Stand in” not a stunt woman mate.

This makes me sad to think there won’t be any of this era of actors still alive 😢❤
We'll all be in the ground soon so don't worry about it.
All actors went through a lot to make The Wizard Of OZ yesterday indeed they sacrificed a lot
RIP to the cast who’ve passed💔 God be with them and all the families, friends and loved ones✝️🙏🤍
If I’m alive and look that good at 105 I don’t think I’d know how to act 😂 she’s precious ❤
Ironically the original Tin Man, Buddy Ebsen, survived the rest of the main cast and died in 2003
Don’t forget about ‘The Wiz’. Highly slept on movie!!!
yes everyone forgets about The Wiz! that’s my favorite adaptation besides the OG!!
🤬🤯 Bet they do
Michael ruined it
That one and the Muppet version were the ones I always used to watch
Isn't the Wiz the unnecessary blackwashed version?
During the closeup of Dorothy tapping the ruby slippers, Dorothy was being played by Caren

I would love to he what she thinks of the latest versions .
If Buddy Ebsen hadn't been recast as the Tin Man, he would have been the last surviving core cast member.
