If your portal breaks you don't have to kill yourself you can find a Flint and steel in fortresses also you can kill a wither skeleton(coal)a ghast(gunpowder) and a blaze (blaze powder) to make a fire charge which can be crafted with your personal crafting grid
Good video. But if you go to the nether without flint and steel and a ghast blows up your portal, you can do what I did and have the ghast light it. It's difficult but it worked for me. Thank you for the vids. I use them often.
Just as a side note, if you're making a portal, just remember not to have wood directly behind it when you're trying to light it. At least for me, it didn't work, so I thought the "any size" portal was actually a lie lol.

So my problem is my nether portal spawned me in a really bad spot. So I dug a long tunnel and went from the blue to the red forest however no matter how far I went there was always a lava layer above me and I could not dig up to get out in the open at all. There was no open space like yours
In the old Days I played Minecraft the 🐎 was the newest update. The last time I played was April 2015. I love Creative Mode that way I : can fly , don't die ,and have unlimited items. 5 months before in December 2014 I made a Nether Portal, and I was under an lake of liquid fire . Even though I couldn't die it had so much Light that I needed Sunglasses. I also didn't know where I was . With Autism maps didn't help me that much. So I was under the fire lake for 7 Hours of game playing ,but because I am Human, and have things to do . In rale life I was under the fire lake for 2 Days 8 Hours. Than I remember that I can Fly so I got to the roof of the Nether. Until I found land . That took me another 4 Hours of game play time to find land . When I got back to Over World I was in the a cave in the Ocean . It took me 2 Hours to get out of the Cave . So because I was in middle of the Ocean I had in mind to make a under water home ,and to light up the area . I also made 4 paths of Lights . I play in Creative made so my Favorite Lights in Minecraft is the one light that can't go out, and makes a blue glow. Than after 5 Hours of putting Lights down, and Makeing a under Water home. I made up my mind to leave the Ocean . That took 3 Hours for me to get to a Mushroom Island. I spent 3 Hours on the Island. It also took me 2 more Hours to get to Land . It was not the Zombie Pigs it was the 26 Hours of playing Minecraft doing nothing, but 50% of that time doing nothing, but Traveling, and being Lost . In real life it took me 17 Days ,and 8 Hours in Total for me to find Land again on the Over World. Something like this happened to me like 24 times in the whole time of playing the Game. By January 2015 I had enough. So I putted 200 TNT ,and set 8 Fires ,and poured a Lake of Water on to a Farming, and Mineing Town . Set to peaceful mode . So that I will make a Hotel out of Obsidian ,and Stone. I made bigger the mine Cave so it will be a Basement. I also set Lights on the Roof, and in side Walls . My favorite Lights. Is the hardest light to make. You could see my Hotel from Minecraft miles away. I made it 80 Blocks West to East 24 Blocks North to South, and 30 Blocks down underground ,and ??? Blocks High . All that I knew was that It was 100 feet tall. I took me 93 days to make ,and if my Computer was not taken away from me . It would have taken 1,000 Days ,or 907 more days to finish.
When you go into the nether portal in creative, you immediately go into the nether, even when you touch it, and in survival you gotta wait 5 seconds or so, its just weird
I once was mining in MC and I found in this big cave a fully built lit nether portal. Plus right in the entrance of the cave was another fully built lit nether portal. I didn't know this could happen. I'm not even online or anything I'm on a survival world on my switch. No other players or a server. I don't get it
How about making a portal 8x wider? Like 2 wide in the neather but 16 wide in the overworld just for fun. Say you got mob farms all over the overworld linked to a nether highway network for a build. Cool right?
I found lava near a village, next to the ocean, which is near to my underground base, and I made the portal, with only a bucket and some dirt. Now I can go to the nether, but I only got an iron pickaxe, a shield, and some leather armor, and the rest except for the shovel are stone tools. But the point is... Do you think I should go to the nether? 🤔

Survival is survival. Creative is creative. In survival, having a delay for the portal means you can’t just jump back and forth immediately out of PVP or PVE I assume. That isn’t an issue in creative so you can just instantly go back and forth.
So as of this time… 09/18/2021 the powdered snow in the Cauldron glitch still works in bedrock. (Over fill the cauldron with powdered snow) It can also be used to break the Bedrock around End gateways which means you won’t have to use a ender pearl to access it. Also it does break the nethers bedrock roof.
@@GODKING-6954 Awesome! Different glitch than I was thinking of ... I like breaking the bedrock even better. The one I was thinking of used an ender pearl to throw yourself on top of snow & then you would somehow glitch thru the roof without breaking it.
in java for my 1st time i made the portal, and when i go through I have to stand in the stream. but when i walk back in I come out near my village with a new portal I did not make. I found it weird. I would have thought that if I make one and its the only one in the area I would come in and out the same portal
Actually having an issue with this one for some reason. I've got a portal in the over world at -1089, 55, 2084 and another at -982, 55, 2084. The -982 portal has a nether portal on the exact corresponding coordinates. I get above bedrock in the nether and place a portal there at the correct coordinates for the -1089 portal but it teleports me back to the -982 overworld portal instead. If I break the portal above bedrock and create it down in the nether at the same coordinates then they link up exactly how they should. Is linking portals above bedrock broken or is it just our server? I'm playing on a private 1.16.4 Java server but this also happened when I tested in a creative Java world.

So i took you advice and moved the one in the nether to the exact spot for the first base, then dug about 13 blocks x, 35 z, then linked second portal to second base. Perfection. You are a bonafide hero of mine.
so far two things wrong. portals can only be 23 x 23 and if your portal breaks in the nether you can craft fire charges from smelting down the logs to charcoal and mixing it with blaze powder and gunpowder. which can all be found in the nether.
Doesn't change anything tbh. It's just for aesthetics. For example you can create a cool shape and place a large nether portal behind it to give it a very mystical vibe.
figured out my prob.. portal was to big. I had at 23x23, would not light, cut it down to 20x20 and it lit. (for anyone else who may be having an issue in java edition, v 1.19.3 with large (23 x 23 blocks or bigger), I am playing on friends MC server, so it may also be set on his server for a max size, I am not sure, will have to check with him.
@@completelyaverageviewer There is a much faster way, involving placing blocks in the right position next to a lake of lava. It's the way speedrunners make it quickly. However, I don't know how popular that method was when this video was made, and it's much easier to mess up, which is why the way in the video is better for beginners.
@@Smitology my nether portl returns me to a portal in the overworld (that i didnt build) and seems to happen if I'm trying to port and am under attack. Which is every time I try to go to the Nether world. Is this a bug? And will changing the portal I built to a new location, make the nether porta it creates, change locations also? Cos I am being constantly mobbed....

I started playing in 2011, and even in 2016 you could only make a 2x3 without mods. I’m so happy they fixed this now that I’m coming back to the game.

Tip: instead of dividing your block coordinates by 8, multiply your chunk coordinates by 2. Same result and much quicker.

Partial correction... max portal size is 23×23. Portal frames built larger than that will not light.

Survival is survival. Creative is creative. In survival, having a delay for the portal means you can’t just jump back and forth immediately out of PVP or PVE I assume. That isn’t an issue in creative so you can just instantly go back and forth.
The same reason breaking blocks is instant in creative but it takes time to break a block in survival

To be clear, you don't need more than one bucket to use the lava/water trick.
