if we’re REALLY gonna get technical, only Snow White, Jasmine, Rapunzel, Aurora, Merida, Anna and Ariel are princesses (of royal birth). Kida and Elsa are queens. everyone else is a political figure’s kid (Pocahontas), a military brat (Mulan), married into royalty (99% of the rest) or are just thrown in the mix because they’re female protagonists (Esmeralda? Megara? the fuck y’all doing here?)

In the end, she's just another completely submissive woman coerced into falling "in love"

In the movie she ends up being so afraid of him she escapes from the castle herself and then he saves her from wolves. That's around the time things turned around and she started getting into furry D. It's true she was being held captive in that she was obligated to stay against her will, but saying it's just Stockholm Syndrome is missing important points, such as the fact that she escaped by herself and decided to stay by herself.

As funny as the whole "She's got Stockholm Syndrome" thing is, honestly, you specifically see her try to escape and then she kind-of learns to give the Beast a chance as he, also, kind-of learns that he can't force her to like him and specifically becomes a less shitty person for her. Like there was even a song about how he's changing as a person, lol.
I give Ariel points for being the first princess to do crap. Snow white, Aurora, and Cinderella were victims who needed saving at every turn. Totally passive. Ariel made bad decisions but she was at least an active participant in her story. Her first act (besides disobeying her father, and almost getting her friend killed by a shark) was saving a prince from drowning.

Ariel's dad doesn't die! He's the only one in that movie that has character growth (and it makes no fucking sense because he was right all along but whatever) He makes that huge rainbow at the end of the movie, which we all know is the universal sign for "I condone you banging my daughter."
I know she isn't Disney (and this video came out way before most of the sequels), but Kairi is the worst Princess. In KH1 she's alright, but the sequels keep trying to add more significance to her they aren't truly willing to give. She's still a princess of heart in KH3 even though the others inexplicably gave away their powers. She's a Keyblade wielder: but she still ends up being a damsel in distress, which angered fans so bad the DLC stuck in a scene of her ATTEMPTING to be useful. She sleeps in a chair for year searching (seriously, she's not even in a cryo pod) for Sora and learns almost nothing. The Fairy Godmother has to point out what she and Riku (who also learns nothing) have to do next.
Disney Princess: Be Protagonist Have Tiddies Sick-Ass Outfit Change Not all of them have dead Moms. A fair number of male protagonists have a dead parent(s) but have no tiddies. Mulan gets some dope armor and meets the other two requirements. Snow White does not get a new outfit and is questionably a protagonist, therefore not a princess despite being a princess.
I love how the villain keeps her word and is 100% honest the entire film, it just happens that Ariel made a horrible decision and she's trying to teach her a lesson by showing her that looks aren't everything.
