Like RIGHT after this one I remember. I forgot the exact one, but it's early. Like 10-20 early, and he mentions it early on too cause he plays off of it for the rest of the podcast. Edit: 11 was this one, 12/13 is where he mentions his Dad. Edit AGAIN: Look up "The Worst Disney Princess! - SBFP Animated" if you want to just hear it, but the animation does says 2 weeks later, so has to be 13/14 then.
if we’re REALLY gonna get technical, only Snow White, Jasmine, Rapunzel, Aurora, Merida, Anna and Ariel are princesses (of royal birth). Kida and Elsa are queens. everyone else is a political figure’s kid (Pocahontas), a military brat (Mulan), married into royalty (99% of the rest) or are just thrown in the mix because they’re female protagonists (Esmeralda? Megara? the fuck y’all doing here?)
I haven't watched anything related to Disney in a decade but yea id agree that Mulan and Jastine are pretty cool Yes Jasmine is a princess but she still goes on adventure and is a strong woman The others are stereotypical princess shenanigans, either they are dumb as fuck or spoiled as hell, Its like up to a certain point they were making woman all victims or stereotypical just tools for plot, and then decided "Ohh hey, lets start making strong independent woman with actual character"
+RobertGameFreak Don't say strong woman as though strong has any real context to the phrase. She's the best one though. She's the least "take a dick" one even compared to Mulan, cause Esmeralda doesn't count.
"Its like up to a certain point they were making woman all victims or stereotypical just tools for plot, and then decided "Ohh hey, lets start making strong independent woman with actual character"" This is actually true! To an extent, I mean. Snow White (1937), Cinderella (1950) and Aurora (1959) were followed by a gap of three decades before Ariel (1989) debuted as their next female fairytale lead. Cinderella and Aurora had both been negatively received even at their debut (and Snow had grown into that), but Ariel's mixed-bag reception broke the camel's back and drove for the next princess, Belle, to be characterised after the women's rights movement.
Belle is just a classic case of Stockholm Syndrome. She empathizes with her captor in order to cope with her own helplessness and fear, convincing herself he's not so bad because the alternative is too much to deal with. In the end, she's just another completely submissive woman coerced into falling "in love"
I wouldnt call it a classic case as she actively influences her captor to change his attitude, although it is still stolkholm, it isnt exactly a traditional variation
Well that's not completely true. It's not Stockholm Syndrome so much as Firefighter Syndrome, or whatever that is called when people fall for people who save their life. In the movie she ends up being so afraid of him she escapes from the castle herself and then he saves her from wolves. That's around the time things turned around and she started getting into furry D. It's true she was being held captive in that she was obligated to stay against her will, but saying it's just Stockholm Syndrome is missing important points, such as the fact that she escaped by herself and decided to stay by herself.
Yeah..... As funny as the whole "She's got Stockholm Syndrome" thing is, honestly, you specifically see her try to escape and then she kind-of learns to give the Beast a chance as he, also, kind-of learns that he can't force her to like him and specifically becomes a less shitty person for her. Like there was even a song about how he's changing as a person, lol.
I give Ariel points for being the first princess to do crap. Snow white, Aurora, and Cinderella were victims who needed saving at every turn. Totally passive. Ariel made bad decisions but she was at least an active participant in her story. Her first act (besides disobeying her father, and almost getting her friend killed by a shark) was saving a prince from drowning.
+Rthe47 When someone sings a song about you making a mistake by signing this for 3 minutes with backup singers and explosions and you still make it, being the first to do something active is the only reason you failed, doesn't deserve any points.
But in the end. she larns nothing of the consequnces, get everything she wants and has no character growth. It was Areil's fault from the begining and she deserves worst like in the original story
Cinderella? Passive? Please..... I'll give you Snow White and Aurora, but Cinderella was in an abusive household and just wanted out of it. Sure, she got help, but it's not like she never fought or worked for anything. In the new movie, sure, but not the og
I like how their everyone but Pat's favorite Disney princess is not even a princess at all. Mulan is the daughter of a former soldier and Shang is just from a military family Belle is the daughter of an inventor or some shit. and Esmeralda is definitely not a princess.
Let's be real, Ariel could have gotten that D without needing legs from Ursula. There where at least two scenes (examining junk with Scuttle and peeping on Eric and his crew when his ship passes) where Ariel was breathing air and talking just fine above the water.
Mulan not only has a bodycount, but also has an ASTRONOMICAL body count XD She killed literally thousands of Huns, including... That one villain guy. Shen Long I think his name was. Or is that the Street Fighter guy only. Ah whatever.
Ariel's dad doesn't die! He's the only one in that movie that has character growth (and it makes no fucking sense because he was right all along but whatever) He makes that huge rainbow at the end of the movie, which we all know is the universal sign for "I condone you banging my daughter."
I know she isn't Disney (and this video came out way before most of the sequels), but Kairi is the worst Princess. In KH1 she's alright, but the sequels keep trying to add more significance to her they aren't truly willing to give. She's still a princess of heart in KH3 even though the others inexplicably gave away their powers. She's a Keyblade wielder: but she still ends up being a damsel in distress, which angered fans so bad the DLC stuck in a scene of her ATTEMPTING to be useful. She sleeps in a chair for year searching (seriously, she's not even in a cryo pod) for Sora and learns almost nothing. The Fairy Godmother has to point out what she and Riku (who also learns nothing) have to do next.
Disney Princess: Be Protagonist Have Tiddies Sick-Ass Outfit Change Not all of them have dead Moms. A fair number of male protagonists have a dead parent(s) but have no tiddies. Mulan gets some dope armor and meets the other two requirements. Snow White does not get a new outfit and is questionably a protagonist, therefore not a princess despite being a princess.
I love how the villain keeps her word and is 100% honest the entire film, it just happens that Ariel made a horrible decision and she's trying to teach her a lesson by showing her that looks aren't everything. But because she sort-of starts winning the guy over anyways purely because of her newfound ass, Ursula just kind-of has to step in and keep her from boning a guy that doesn't even know her name.
Seven vagánias... maybe more...
Imagine...
Thanks Grimsby!
I loved how after this, Pat's parents got super mad at him.
which podcast?

But he was right tho
Kylo Ren is worst Disney Princess
Kylo Ren is a punk bitch! I bet he weighs 30 pounds soaking wet underneath that little black dress.
Pat's rant is probably the best part.
Oh Oh! Jafar is Toad! The most evil of combinations!
I love that Pat is apparently a ghost, because he's see through XD

Jasmin and Mulan are awesome, I also like Maid Marion
Wasn't Mulan just from a good family? Like nobility or something? I've never thought of her as a princess.
Yeah, it's just that Disney basically calls all their "main girls" "princesses".
What about Rapunzel?! At least she fought for what she wanted and was willing to resist Gothel’s abusive control to live her dream.
Is Pat saying the little mermaid is batman? ("All she does enpowers her villain")
I somehow think shattering people's limbs and throwing them in jail doesn't empower them (except for maybe the Joker)
2:28 just like real women.
This is great : D

my only thought is: 'Wait, they played kingdom hearts?'

+SteelBollocks and that's why Mulan is the best, she fucking kills an evil warlord and gets laid with that captain guy because she feels like it
I wouldnt call it a classic case as she actively influences her captor to change his attitude, although it is still stolkholm, it isnt exactly a traditional variation

Lindsay Ellis has a whole video on this topic. If you want the tldr, she doesn’t have Stockholm syndrome lmao
You need to include the following podcast where Pat's parents talk to him about this!
pats mom is basically envy (fmab version) by this point she any form you want her to be

"The Little Pat"
I like how their everyone but Pat's favorite Disney princess is not even a princess at all.
Mulan is the daughter of a former soldier and Shang is just from a military family
Belle is the daughter of an inventor or some shit.
and Esmeralda is definitely not a princess.
+Sanobearon
Belle marries the Beast, who is a prince, so I think she counts as a princess, but you're right about the other ones.
+Sanobearon They are sold under the brand "disney pricesses"
***** which is a huge lie.
+Kenny Ortiz "You're right Woolie, you can totally win an argument if you just change what words mean"
Логан Кейн
I'm not saying they are princesses. I'm saying that they toys disney sells market them as such.
Look were all forgetting the hottest princess and thats Kida from Atlantis THAT SWIM SCENE!
Mfw no one mentions Tiana, the girl that goes from being a poor waitress to a full blown princess with in the span of 2 days.
Quikanims as well as having one of the best Disney villians and villian songs ever.
She was late to the party, no one ever mentions brave either. The last princesses to get any notoriety were Rapunzel and Elsa.
Who the fuck is Tiana?
"The Black one"?
Can you just give me a source where she is from? Like... Clearly a movie.
Thank you.
The way you drew Alice is amazing. I love it.
Let's be real, Ariel could have gotten that D without needing legs from Ursula. There where at least two scenes (examining junk with Scuttle and peeping on Eric and his crew when his ship passes) where Ariel was breathing air and talking just fine above the water.
Mulan is cool. she's killed dudes
Remember that time Mulan saw a group of dudes bathing and was like "I'm gonna touch ALL the dicks!"
Mulan not only has a bodycount, but also has an ASTRONOMICAL body count XD She killed literally thousands of Huns, including... That one villain guy. Shen Long I think his name was. Or is that the Street Fighter guy only. Ah whatever.
That was cool dude, and a great moment from the podcast. You should do more when you can and keep sharing them on the subreddit.
PLEASE DO ONE FROM PODCAST 116 THEY TALK ABOUT CODY FROM STREET FIGHTER AND HOW BROKEN HE IS IT WOULD BE AN AWESOME ANIMATION!
Ariel's dad doesn't die! He's the only one in that movie that has character growth (and it makes no fucking sense because he was right all along but whatever) He makes that huge rainbow at the end of the movie, which we all know is the universal sign for "I condone you banging my daughter."
But he was kinda of prick in the first half of the movie.
Ariel might live in the water.
but she is the THIRSTIEST PRINCESS.
I want Pat to just do an hour talking about Disney anything.
Jasmine is obviously the best princess. If you think otherwise you are wrong.
I know she isn't Disney (and this video came out way before most of the sequels), but Kairi is the worst Princess. I love this discussion every time it shows up.
Mira is the best Princess. 2nd to Buzz Lightyear and Disney produced cartoon. She's military bruh!
I didnt knew Aurora had a name at first so I just called her Beauty. Sleeping Beauty.
Meh
Moar!! This is one of my favorite SBFC moments
Wow! Great stuff here. Please do more
the little mermaid's father didnt die he just got temporarily changed into detritus and then got changed back 5 min. later
