"Is he a happy chap?" Oh man, I'd say he's the happiest chap you'd ever meet!
Joyful even

im 28 years old now. one piece is a part my life
It's a pirate anime and it's one of the Big 3 of anime ( Naruto, Bleach and One Piece), it has outsold Batman as the second most sold comic/manga ever and if it continue to sell it will over take Superman. This story is being written by one man Eiichiro Oda. One Piece is not a seasonal show, it's all one continuous story broken in up into arcs. The premise of the show is the search for the treasure of the former king of the pirates Gold Rogers...he left no map. The man with the strawhat is the main character, his name is Monkey D. Luffy, he ate what's called a devil fruit and it turned him into a rubber man.
🤓 ☝️
4:10 One Piece is one long continuous story that has been running since 1997 (the original manga, that is). The anime adaptation has similarly been going since 1999. (And it's not one of those "no progress is made" series either, the progress might be slow but it's _always_ happening.)
There are no seasons, it's just been going. The _story_ does get broken up into arcs (which in turn get bundled into longer overarching sagas), but those don't work the same as seasons would in a different series. An arc can be as short as 5 chapters/episodes, or well over a hundred. Just depends on what Oda (the author) wants to do with that specific one. And you just... can't make season divisions with something like that.
With that, the openings also can't be used to demarcate such divisions nicely (and also have different lengths of use - shortest non-anniversary-or-other-special-occasion use being 15 episodes, the longest 69). The switches between songs _do_ sometimes coincide with the starts and ends of arcs, but sometimes you'll have multiple arcs under one opening (like on the first one), or multiple openings for one arc (as you'll see in the twenties), depending on the lengths. And sometimes the switches between songs just don't align with arc borders just at all.
Also just for openings in general not specific to One Piece, I wouldn't take the things that happen in the visuals too literally. They quite often include things that are more symbolic of either the story or themes or such, or things related/similar to actual story events but not quite. For One Piece in particular to give an example, a good number of scenes in the opening animations are adapted from random drawings Oda has made of the main cast for cover pages or such.
(There really are totally massive animals around though - but they're not like the main enemies, just parts of the wildlife or occasionally obstacles.)
Similarly, wouldn't think too much on the lyrics. They may have some direct relation to the plot, they may have none, they may just resemble the themes or vibes.
27:56 That's a whole slew of supporting characters (with a couple of actual villains mixed in). In general, a very large portion of One Piece's characters are not people you'd label as "heroes" or "bad guys". They're just people doing their own thing. And a lot of characters you'd generally list under "good" really don't look the part either!
Luffy is indeed a very happy chap. A jolly lad. Most joyous of boys. He's up there as easily one of my favourite anime protagonists. He's not super _relatable_ but he's endearing as can be.
For reference on name pronunciation, the Lu is more like the sound in "lunatic" than in "lucky".
14:40 Luffy has been stretching this whole time. He even quickly demonstrated his ability within the first opening as soon as you see him. He winds up his arm on land to reach out to the crow's nest on his ship, which has enough force to tip the ship to the side a little, then he launched himself to his boat great speed, which is why he's zooming in on the camera with his arm stretching beyond and behind the camera.
He demonstrates it again in the first intro by punching a sea monster in the face at a great distance from a dingy, arm outstretched.
30:36 the 11th opening is sung by the very iconic and legendary famous Kpop Group TVXQ (aka DBSK / Tohoshinki for their japanese name) under SM entertainement when they were 5 members. The voice you said you heard before is Changmin i think, he is still in the group with the only other remaining member Yunho. They have a lot of Japanese songs in their career so you may either know them from Kpop or Jpop songs. They were VERY VERY popular especially in japan in the 2000s, it's a record breaking group
Crazy Rainbow Star was actually Opening 8 which is why it repeated. Opening 7 is a remixed version of opening 1 but sung by the voice actors of the main characters
You can't go wrong with One Piece save for the fact it is extremely long. But it is the most successful manga in history for a reason. It will make you laugh, make you cry and leave you more and more breathless the further you get into it. It is one mans life work that got utterly out of hand, and the world loves him for it.
One interesting thing about One Piece is that the exaggerated expressions are actually the part of the Universe. Characters even acknowledge the existence of heart eyes and stuff.
13:23 I remember when I first saw this opening and this scene told me things were gonna get serious. More so than already.
Anime is practically a media form, with as many genres as you can imagine. And various levels of seriousness, humour exaggeration and so on. It is a fantastic world to explore. And which anime you should watch very much depends on what you like, cause the genres are so vast that almost only imagination is the limit.
The vast majority of the characters shown are neither villains nor heroes, they are their own factions/characters with their own goals, agendas and morals - this is a important part of what makes One Piece so brilliant, it feels like an actual real, breathing world.
I like it when you pause the video while commenting. I think it shows great respect for the work.
One Piece is so much fun ^^ It's one long continuous storyline with Tolkien level worldbuilding that will have you laughing one minute then crying the next and back again. It has mystery, politics, lore, and more wacky fun characters than you could possibly remember. It's daunting in length, while never feeling like enough. I've been keeping up with it since I was 15, and now that I'm 34 it's still going and better than ever. Looking foreward to the new episode (or chapter, as I read the manga too) is the highlight of my week.
4:15 The structure of One Piece usually goes like this.
Luffy and his crew go from island to on their way to find the One Piece, each island has its own characters and its own story, these islands get much more bizarre as the overall story continues. As the story starts with Luffy just leaving his hometown, he's on the lookout for people to recruit into his crew, he usually takes people he gets along with over people he finds practical. He usually finds a tyrant menacing the locals and takes the big bad guy down, celebration ensues. There's plenty of other similar patterns like Luffy and friends end up in jail, wide scale destruction of the environment from the fighting, the first friend Luffy makes on the islands gives him food. But the formula does get shaken up a lot too, touching on different themes, a wide array of powers, the occasional mystery, and new characters to interact with on each island.
Luffy laughs we laugh
Luffy cry we cry
Luffy sad we sad
He is that type of main character
EXACTLY
As an adult , one piece first, the naruto or other anime, naruto is too themed, if you kids or teens watch naruto can be fun, one piece have the secret society and secret history theme even in this thousand episode, if you wanna catch a glimp about one piece just watch the netflix one piece live action it has kinda multiverse than the anime but still have the same plot arc
I cant help but think, did you post this before? I swear ive seen your reaction to this before
Yehhh I think sooo
One Piece has Arcs not seasons and it is one continuous anime with very very little filler, started in 1999 and continues to this day, it is the longest continuous storyline Anime in existence.
So trying my best to explain , the one piece openings don't really cover seasons but mostly arcs and saga chapters , AT FIRST. But at some point some arcs are long enough to warrant multiple dedicated openings , as you'll especially see in the later ones in part 2 . But yeah again the show does not do seasons, but are centered around main arcs (Like East blue Saga for the first 44 episodes, then Alabasta Saga etc etc)
Re-upload?
If you want to watch realistic type of anime then watch Vinland Saga cause nothing is exaggerated there and everything is very realistic ( fights, emotions, expressions, etc and no any superpower but real raw strenght, even fights were so real that you feel impact) And yeah shonen anime like One Piece, Naruto, etc like to exaggerate because they are also comedy along being battle shounen anime. What this One Piece anime really does good is, it's peak comedy, very likeable main characters like Luffy and strawhats crew, incredible portrayal of real life problems like racism, slavery, corruption, etc, world building is so interesting and engaging that you will get awed in every arc and every season/arc are connected in a way that you feel like story is flowing like river haha... You will gonna enjoy it if you like this type of genre. And i am not comparing here but One Piece is so much better than Naruto. Naruto is also one of my favourite anime but One Piece always tops.
Opening 10 was sung by Dong Bang Shin Ki, internationally known as TVXQ is a popular Korean boyband. They also sung the opening 9, which is the remix of opening 1.
its cool how he keeps guessing and Im here just saying No 😂. but if you want to watch anime One Piece - as an avid fan of the anime and manga, I highly recommend you watch the Live Action of One Piece. I know Live action adaptation for anime doesn't have a good reputation but One Piece Live Action is actually good and covers a lot of episode from the anime from their 8 episode netflix series. I even get my mom to watch it even though she doesn't watch anime lol. and she loves it! ❤
That was a lot of fun 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
New nakama nice to meet you
I swear I've seen this reaction before like months ago, is this a reupload?
It's definitely a re-upload
I hesitate to recommend this, but if you’re looking for anime openings with good music, I can’t leave without letting you know that JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure exists, and it’s pure, concentrated insanity in the later seasons, but the music throughout is simply _fantastic_
Opening 11 is by TVXQ
Thanks, bro
Asking for anime recommendations is hard. Because it is a medium not a genre.
Now you listed a bunch of shonen and while plenty of us started with those as kids, those are long and take a while.
There are much better starter anime which are shorter.
And you could tell us what genres you are into as well.
That said if you just want anime recommendations Death Note is never wrong.
around 11 min, ''very happy'', a bunch of kids crying on screen
Nice vid
Please second part
Over 27 years later, still no clue what the one piece is???
Massive?
LOWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW
