I enjoyed this thoroughly. Being a Detroiter, we loved Iacocca. There will never be another. His only mistake, self admitted was not appointing Bob Lutz as CEO when he retired. Chrysler died after Lee left. Lutz would've been a much better choice

Agreed! He had issues with Lutz and it influenced his choice. Lutz would not have merged with the other company or if he did Chrysler would been in charge not equal.

This is a leader not the one's you have today in corporations. Most are just part of a boys club. This guy was the real deal

Unions expect beyond their purpose for being. Chrysler workers deserve rewards for building shirty cars. Riiiiight.

They indeed were poorly built vehicles. Remember a time dad was on a business trip to Denver and the only car rental agency had on hand was a blue Kcar. Thing was a piece of junk; cowl, steering wheel would shake at startup, build quality like panel gaps, interior fittings, paint was downright atrocious. That stuff was direct of UAW caring little about building a quality product. Then, when Chrysler would occasionally have some good earnings, they expected a bonus and increase in wages; showing little concern how they and Big3 were struggling to stay competive with USA built nonunion Japanese and Japanese built cars which had superior this and that. What?UAW had well over a million members when Ioaccoa took Chrysler over, fast forward 45 years later, 150,000 members,Big3 have pathetic market share with less than offerings and same shitty UAW build quality with members wanting to be rewarded with less than results.
