Why the difference in sounds? Is it the because of the difference in cooling fan sizes
Maybe. W210 has some leaks on exhaust manifold. Broken manifold nuts and pins. And there is also different injectors sound.

Is the W140 also a 300d diesel or a 350 diesel?
Both are 300 turbodiesel OM606

Never-never start Diesel engine especially old one in cold 🥶 whether and almost immediately revs engine,oil is so dense,and cannot lube upper parts of that engine

@@miko0023 You can, but you should let it idle for a couple of minutes and then drive it at low rpms until it reaches operating temperature.
