Featuring my father and his friend James Growney back in the golden era of surfing. Together, they developed the "Paipo" a precursor to the modern bodyboard. Firm, light, and fast, it flew like a wing across the waves. Shot by surf cinema-photographer Val Valentine in various locations off of O'ahu during a period of exceptional surf rarely seen since, the film captures the Paipo's astounding performance of speed and grace in the midst of the longboards of the day. In light of his love of the 'island style' my father had asked me to create a soundtrack in the essence of the traditional 'slack-key' guitar.
