  • A beautiful early fall afternoon was spent trackside on Norfolk Southern's Atlanta North End District in Oostanaula, Georgia. I showed up right at noon, and the action started immediately and was virtually non-stop until sundown. The highlight of the day was Norfolk Southern #1066, the New York Central heritage unit, leading the last train #175 (replaced by 369) south as the first train of the afternoon. Many more trains would follow, all being regularly scheduled intermodal, manifest, and autorack trains.

It was definitely a busy afternoon! This is the former Southern between Chattanooga and Atlanta.
