    Spot On. Freezer Evap fan pulling voltage down causing board to crash and reset. Mine turned out to be ice in freezer fan coupler. Disconected and applied Dielectric grease and relatched. Also had a huge ice ball to clear out. Working Well now. No parts needed.

    Our 5 door just stopped making ICE, I used Tech Mode and in menu 56 I get an error code of E2. Looks like I need service, luckily I bought an extended warranty as our KA fridge is 2.5 years old. Great tutorial. Thanks

    great video, thx! instead of PO I got a PF code (and all the lights were off so I figured that meant power failure) so I went thru your diagnostic mode and I got the blinking 01 and the lights came back on - i went thru the diagnostic but how do I tell what it was that shut the unit off? I suspect the freezer compressor fan but for now it has reset - THX for this video!

      @@ninjajim4 you won’t believe this. After unplugging the fridge for a few days for a total defrost, I moved it into the garage, plugged it in and it runs better than new! Most common issue for PO code is the freezer evaporator fan. You can verify by doing Test 3, Step 2 and it will reset and show PO code. Also will happen during Test 3, Step 4, and Test 4, Step 5.

    I have the same model fridge the refrigerator fan works in diagnostic mode but not in normal working mode. The freezer is fine. So of course my fridge part is not cooling as it should. I’ve had the circuit board replaced. Do you have any ideas what it might be??

    • @ninjajim4
      @ninjajim4  27 дней назад

      @@bigkidison have you dissassembled and put eyes on the refrigerator evap fan? If freezer is good but fridge is not then my guess is that there is a lot of ice build up in the condensor. It blocks all air flow to the fridge portion. It's a pain to get to it but once you get in there, melt all ice with a heat gun/hair dryer, make sure drains are clear. Make sure coils underneath the freezer in the front is clean and dust free

    I have a stupid question. Looks like my manual is not on the top of door. My freezer door is shut solid- I believe there is ice built up at the bottom that is preventing the door from opening.
    I wanted to put it in forced defrost mode which I believe is #38. I switched the mode to long defrost, but once I do that is there another button I have to press to confirm/start the forced defrost cycle? Do I exit diagnostic mode etc.. not sure what I do to start it. Thanks in advance!

      You've fixed the PO code issue by swapping freezer evap fan but refridgerator is still warm? That can happen if you've had the PO code problem for a few days -- the board resets too many times and ice builds up on the refrigerator evaporator coils. You can defrost it with a hairdryer and you should be good from there.

      @@terrykiser6038 you should run Service Test - 3, step 3. I hope no one wasted money buying a new control board, which is what everywhere online suggests to do first! Don't throw parts at the problem!! I posted this information publicly on ApplianceBlog.com and Jake DELETED my comments, DELETED my account and LOCKED the threads so no one could reply with the correct information. He'd rather save face than help people. What a scumbag! There are people on that forum who junked a perfectly good refrigerator and spent +$1000 for a new one because they couldn't solve this problem! 😢

      Ice or frost? Iceball is a potential frostback issue. Frost that melted but was frost, maybe with a dusting of frost along the top of the evaporator... is usually an airflow issue.

I followed your video; (i) under Test #3 (which ended up with 01), I then did "Select Zone" > # 23; it goes thru a few things and then stays on "13"; what does it mean?// (ii) also ran test #5, this one stays on #2. // (iii) When reset, PO code comes back in 10 minutes, followed by the entire control panel lighting up followed by a grumpy noise (for about 1 - 2 minutes). Any hints? Thanks much for your insight.
