  • • A Night at the Rijksmu...
    First broadcast: 18 Apr 2013.
Andrew Graham-Dixon goes behind the scenes at the Rijksmuseum as the staff prepare to open the doors following a ten-year renovation, the most significant ever undertaken by a museum. Featuring over 8,000 works of art, Holland's national museum tells the story of 800 years of Dutch history and houses a world-famous collection including masterpieces by artists from Vermeer to Rembrandt. So, as the final paintings are rehung and objects settle into their new home, has the long wait been worth it?

The Dutch people showing up to applaud & accompany The Night Watch as it returns to its home is absolutely wonderful. Impossible not to whoop & cheer along with them.

The way people react when that huge painting slowly rolls down the street it does say something about the power of art and its ability to reach to the higher spirit of human beings.

When he watches the Night Watch being craned about, he sounds just like Alan Partridge. :)

08:06 to 08:26 Perhaps the most loved museum in Paris, and the one closest to the French 'identity', is the Musée D'Orsay, not the Louvre. Perhaps.

John K Lindgren Philips did the led lighting and all of the individual lighting of all the objects. They deserved their free advertisement 😉

The BBC ass depicted the 3D reconstruction to Arizona!!! Omg!! Then the DELFT guy fixed it, “maybe like mars”!

What make Mars better than Arizona? They’re just impressions. Your outrage is humorous. DELFT? Delft.
