Hello Garry, how do you like it so far? Im thinking of buying one but i can not test ride the bike before ordering. Your input would be much appreciated.
Have to say I'm impressed by the motor size, coming from being a Flyon user. I hope TQ have more partners to integrate this new system, however, the price points from Trek have put me off sadly. In time it will tell if the system will be a great seller, watch this space.
well said, mate. Agree that this will make a whole new category on its own. Watch everbody play catch up now. Well done Trek! The best feature is the sleekness of the kit and you can see how much assist time you have left.
I ordered the EXe 9.7 today!! Mid power range will suit me for sure. Currently on a Turbo Levo which i love, but now will give this TREK one a go :-) Can't wait......
@@embn I would toss an Orbea Rise in that comparison too. If Specialized did not do something about their motor output power (torque), they are out of this light EMTB category game I guess
This last spring I had a flat on the rear and didn't want to haul my bike out of the woods so I rode two miles on a flat tire and it didn't even damage the tire. Obviously the tube was toast. But not having to carry my bike was well worth the price of a tube.
I absolutely love my “analog” Giant Reign super lightweight but I hate the long hard climbs, I also love my custom Bulls E-core specially on those climbs but weighing 24 kg… something in between sounds just like perfect 🤩
I like, having a Levo SL. I always thought it could do with a little more on the steeper stuff especially when the trail is rough, more important as I getting on in years and need to keep the heart rate in the right area. It will be good to compare to what ever Specialized do with the new SL, soon to be seen.
@@ivanvarga819 I bought the SL in April and have about 500 miles on it. Maybe the 2.0 version is quieter than the version you rode. I find it very quiet going up and dead-silent going down. Usually, the trail sounds are louder than the motor 😎

Yes, its new technology with its TQ's motor that uses harmonic pin ring transmission with no noisy gears or belts to reduce motor speed to crank rpms!! Consequently, it's the quietest, lightest motor on the market period, and bike rides like an analog bike and is a joy to ride!!
Here's a question Steve. On your local trails at the Welsh Border Checkpoint, what would you rather take, the Rail or the Fuel EXe? I've only really ever ridden Bunker on the Rail since you can do multiple laps without breaking a sweat, vs only managing 4 in a morning on the Giga. I've got no qualms sending it on the full fat, but will the EXe be just as fun on the run to Redbrook? Only asking since I'm planning to get a shared bike for me / wife. I can muscle a full fat bike, but she doesn't feel confident on steeps on the rail due to its weight. I know you've reviewed both and the use case is pretty much the FOD and Wye valley.
“New mid assist category”?? Same battery as the Orbea rise, 10nm of power less and around the same weight and price so I’m not sure how this is “new”? I do absolutely love it though. I haven’t even considered a new bike since owning the Orbea Rise until now.
I've just pressed the button on a Rise M10. Though I would prefer the compact motor design and its aesthetics (not sure I'm that bothered about the 10Nm less power) at the £7.5k price point you get a hell of bump in components on the Orbea and you can customise it out of the factory. If I had not committed and wanted to wait I’d be looking at the Transition with the Fazua motor for aesthetics, but as someone else said further up the thread there is no reason for E-bike not to have an integral gearbox.
It does make SH1TMANOs offerings look old tech, I like the high charge port and the fact you can actually ride it with the battery flat, something that scares me with my old skool EP8 powered motor.
Unless you talk about EP8 RS. Orbea Rise gives you more power, 1kg less weight (down to 16.5kg which I personally don't believe in much ;) for half the prise. This Trek is waaaay overpriced.

Great review! The future of MTB for sure. Personally would like to have seen bigger travel specs (160/150 for e.g) but I'm sure that will come in time. I actually checked one out in size XL at my LBS today. Really well spec'd in both the top and middle models and competitively priced for what you get for the $.
Have you managed to do a real world range test in eco mode?I'd be interested to see if you could get 60ks from this and be able to go out for rides with mates who have 625W batteries (full power ebikes).
It can't come soon enough, I would buy the Relay already if I could over the Exe. I'm sure having a silent motor is great but for the Exe's price I'd want more battery and power without having to sacrifice my water bottle for an extender. I feel like the Relay was already cutting it too close to just barely enough battery and I don't know how loud the Fazua 60 will be, but having a dragless motor I can pedal while off or over the limit is far more worth it to me than having a silent one, as nice as that is
Great video, mate! i have been thinking about the Fuel EXe and one question that came into my mind just now is about the motor activation speed when going through rough terrain and rocky / tech areas up hill. So does the bike have less drag when pedaling when the battery dies? Does it ride like a regular bike when out of power? Do company's even address this as a problem? Just wondering because my ebikes feel heavy when battery dies, real heavy

Why does a motor and controller nearly double the bike cost?
I'd be MORE interested in a 'review' after you have put at least 10,000km on it. Cheers! You could actually help us all out by doing such 'long term' reviews. Ever considered it?
EMBN/GMBN and partners aren't impartial reviewers like some other channels on RUclips, they are a company that gets paid to promote/advertise products. I mean just look at the description of the video. It clearly says "Paid Promotion with Trek Bikes". They don't do reviews because that isn't their business model. They wont tell you all the bad stuff about a bike because they're getting paid to talk about the good stuff. Just think of EMBN videos as entertaining advertisements and then look to other channels for reviews (Rob Rides EMTB, Loam Wolf etc).
Bike released yesterday… ‘I want a long term review with at least 10000kms on it’… mate I couldn’t even put 10000kms on a car in 24 hours … expectations a little unrealistic don’t you think?
sorry to point it out but you are not calling this a lightweight low power, but another breed, but that does already exist, the Orbea Rise..... Light and 60nM of torque....
Like to see a review of this against the Orbea Rise. On a side note I see it has Code brakes with HS2 rotors. SRAM does not make a HS2 rotor with magnet built in and there are no official solutions for centerlock so is this using 6-bolt rotors with a bolt on magnet? I ask as I had this issue with my Orbea Rise when I switched out the rotors to HS2s.....
@@Cezex Doesn't fit. Trust me, I tried everything except the TRP solution as I was done spending money on stuff that did not work. Emailing SRAM support also got, there is no solution for the HS2 Centerlock.
Olá. Parece ser uma boa Ebike principalmente pelo tamanho do motor e pelos 50Nm de torque. Só não percebo porque uma bicicleta desta categoria não tem uma bateria de por exemplo o dobro do anunciado. Are you sure it's an e-Bike Steve? I hadn't noticed! Ask me one about trains 🤪
0:20 Squirl :)
Good spot! 😉
Like it and would get one 😊
Ngl wish there was a part that you weren’t talking and I could hear how loud the bike is
most of the airlines have quite often a limit of 100Wh :/
So is it the 2022 trek Fuel EX-e or 2023 trek Fuel EX-e ?
The Trek website lists them as 2023
The TREK I've been waiting for - But it's at a Specialized US pricing..
Why don't ebikes have internal gears? It would be amazing
I'd be MORE interested in a 'review' after you have put at least 10,000km on it. Cheers!
You could actually help us all out by doing such 'long term' reviews. Ever considered it?
Hey no worries, what you need to know?
Yea sure they buy a 15k emtb and make a long time review of it and others.
"Ever considered it?"
@@stevejones7956 Do exactly the same show after you have ridden that bike for 10,000km. Thanks!
sorry to point it out but you are not calling this a lightweight low power, but another breed, but that does already exist, the Orbea Rise..... Light and 60nM of torque....
Game changer it's not full fat or semi skimmed then it must be mountain goats milk. Which bike manufacturers will be next to follow
And, how much?
How this is better than one Orbea Rise?
Like to see a review of this against the Orbea Rise. On a side note I see it has Code brakes with HS2 rotors. SRAM does not make a HS2 rotor with magnet built in and there are no official solutions for centerlock so is this using 6-bolt rotors with a bolt on magnet? I ask as I had this issue with my Orbea Rise when I switched out the rotors to HS2s.....
There is a centerlock lock ring with built in magnet, Shimano rotors have it.
@@Cezex Doesn't fit. Trust me, I tried everything except the TRP solution as I was done spending money on stuff that did not work. Emailing SRAM support also got, there is no solution for the HS2 Centerlock.
@@Roaming50 what about sticking (screwing) magnet to the rotor arms? I did it for mine and it works like a charm.
@@Cezex I superglued a Nd magnet to the rotor. If it falls off then I’ll try the TRP solution or give up and get a 6-bolt adapter.
I have the orbea rise H30 which I must say I love, how does this compare to that. Is the price difference between them justified?
The entry level Fuel is the same price as the entry level Rise M20. Both being carbon, they are the models to compare with each other I reckon.
I think we will se that tq motor on a road bike
The big S is about up the power of the levo/ Kenevo sl guaranteed
They were just waiting to see how much Trek tried to copy them…like usual…before they release the new SLs that will blow this bike away
@@evanring2021 hopefully with a sensible pricing & component spec, which is generally where specialized let themselves down
Looks to me like they taken the orbea rise and improved the weak points of the rise.
My levo SL is seems dated after this!!
