      I'm glad you enjoyed this type of video a lot of the times when I do those virtual ones where I film something and I voice over it it's simply because it is really hard to carry on a dialogue when you're out like that because you'll say something wrong then you have to start again someone will start asking you questions and you have to stop and start so at times I enjoy doing the AI vlogs I guess and at other times I love doing these hopefully you'll keep watching all of my different platforms....

    It makes me anxious to see you walking around in China, Mark. I will try to keep an open mind. No.... Do I agree with some of it?
      Yes.....
      It's not for me to judge another country's government especially coming from Canada and knowing what can and will happen in Canada if you don't tow the company line.....

      I can only give my experience.....
      And my experience in China as someone who have been coming here and living here for 15 years and who owns a home here...... It's been positive ...
      A lot more positive than some of my experiences in The US.... But you don't see me shitting on the US and talking continually about the government there....
      That's not touching a nerve it's asking what agenda should I be pushing?
      Other than saying
      "Hey look I've been told 100X I'll be thrown in detention for filming.....
      Or showing you that Chinese people live pretty normal lives.....
      That despite the shortcomings of the government --whatwver they may or may not be China is a beautiful country full of some amazing people and the liberties that people THINK don't exist here actually do....

    Hi Mark,
    It is enlightening for me you are making videos about China. In the USA China is quite vilified by both parties and establishment in general; yet based on your reporting people have good living standards and I am particularly impressed by the prevalence of electric vehicles; here in USA we are going backwards as their popularity is declining.
    I still wonder however about their human rights, particularly the communist party having total control and what happens to a person wh 0:02 o dissents. I have contact with several Chinese dissidents living in USA and they would never want to go back. For having freedom and democracy is of paramount importance.
    Keep doing great work while having fun…

      @whyhellotherewithdrmarksabean  3 месяца назад

      Hey Michael I'm sure that there's all kinds of dissidents around the world who would not come back to China for good reason....
      Just as I'm sure there is a lot of people in the United States who are at the extremes of the spectrum that would worry about their government stepping in and doing something about their beliefs and actions.....
      I can tell you this much my rights and freedoms have been violated more in the United States than they ever have been in China and I've been to each country probably as much as the other....
      And yes both countries in the United States as well as several in Canada vilify China...
      It's amazing how they can chastise other countries without looking at themselves and fixing their own shortcomings....
      Xenophobia...... Yeah

    You should do a video about registering with the PSB everytime you stay in a different place.
    Or how it's illegal to work and earn money while in China on a business or tourist visa. There's no self employed foreigners legally earning money while working in China.

    • @whyhellotherewithdrmarksabean
      @whyhellotherewithdrmarksabean  3 месяца назад +1

      Yes you do have to register when you move or relocate
      💯
      But the business thing I'm not sure what you mean, I know plenty of people who have come here and opened up businesses....
      You are right though as a tourist you're not allowed to earn income.....
      But that's the same as any country in the world Canada United States Thailand you name the country it's illegal to be employed work earn income etc etc on a tourist visa.....
      Cheers mate 🍻

    • @jonpads
      @jonpads 3 месяца назад +1

      @@whyhellotherewithdrmarksabean exactly! Nothing's more annoying than foreigners ignoring the local laws or thinking that they're better. That whole register with the PSB within 24 hours of entering the country is a hassle, but at least decent hotels take care of it. The real bother starts when you visit a friend in another city, and you have to take him down the PSB with his ID and deed to the house, to follow the law and get a new certificate of temporary residence.
      The work thing is why there's no digital nomads in China. It's quite simply illegal to work and earn money living there without being on a work visa, sponsored by a company.
      Even if it's a US or EU company paying your overseas bank account, and they'll probably never find out, it's still illegal.
      It's a shame really. There's a lot to like about China.

      Restricted. It's Called The Great Firewall of china

    • @whyhellotherewithdrmarksabean
      @whyhellotherewithdrmarksabean  3 месяца назад +1

      Hey Joe fantastic question first off let me see that the Wi-Fi here works incredible the networks are lightning quick and pretty much coverage is everywhere you're going to go...
      Almost every business big and small has a Wi-Fi network that you can connect to...
      As for internet access is it restricted yes there are definitely certain things here that are banned such as Facebook Google RUclips etc etc....
      However if you are using a VPN on your phone as obviously I am you can get around it quite easily...
      AS SOMEONE WHO HAS BEEN TO CHINA OVER 60 TIMES I'M GOING TO TELL YOU POINT BLANK I HAVE NEVER BEEN STOPPED AT CUSTOMS IMMIGRATION ON THE STREET ANYWHERE SOMEONE ASKING TO LOOK AT MY PHONE AND GO THROUGH MY PHONE....
      MY LAST TRIP TO THE UNITED STATES I WAS DETAINED AT THE BORDER AND THEY SEARCHED MY PHONE....
      Also if you come to China with a SIM card from another country and you're using your data package everything will work your no problem at all.....
      As with any country you're going to find a wide range of Hotel options here in the city that I'm in Nanjing you can get a hotel room as low as $10 up to about $7,000 US dollars a night...
      I'm actually going to be doing a video about my stay at the Ritz-Carlton in a couple of weeks...
      A lot of people have this misconception that China is this poor place where the wages are so low and that's just simply not true...
      One of the best examples I can give you is my condo complex here there's probably a quarter of a billion dollars worth of supercars in the parking garage that belong to the residents....
      Hope this helps...

      I've been here over 60 times in the past 15 years and I've never had anyone spit on me or be disrespectful to me that's just.....
      I don't even know what to say to you I don't know a single person in my sphere of influence and I know many foreigners working and living in China who have ever experienced anything like that.....
      But you could ask the Chinese who live in North America who are brutalized everyday beat on the streets and attacked just for being Chinese how they like it.....
      I'm not sure why you experienced what you did but I certainly haven't and not a single person that I know experienced what you're talking about...
      Sorry, as for the EVs being knock offs and catching fire again I have no idea...
      I've never seen one on fire in all the time I've been here...
      Seen a couple of Tesla's back home burnt to a crisp....

    What about the social credit score system in China??? Is it really being implemented?? What about social media and press censorship we keep hearing so much about?? What about the stories of Christians being rounded up and arrested in some of the provinces?

    • @whyhellotherewithdrmarksabean
      @whyhellotherewithdrmarksabean  3 месяца назад

      Hi Michael
      There are a few cities that have implement the social credit score system....
      It is not as Machiavellian or totalitarian as you're led to believe....
      It's actually a way of having people act a little better, be a little kinder and realize that their actions have consequences.....
      You are correct there is social media censorship here....
      No question Facebook, Tiktok Google,,,, these are banned here.
      Twitter or X is banned as China has its own version of Twitter as well as the parent company of TikTok has a similar app here...
      But it's completely different....
      It's what TikTok was in the beginning.... Cute stories funny stories interesting stories....
      Not people acting like idiots.....
      The funny thing is if you had a VPN on your phone and you said it to another country say like Thailand or any of those countries and you watched TikTok there..... You would not see the same s*** that you see on your 4U page in North America.....
      The rest of the world is different......
      As for the press censorship, again yes it exists..... But then again doesn't it to a degree in every country.....
      Depending on which emd of the spectrum you find yourself there are examples of censorship in every country....
      Thanks so much for taking the time to watch and comment
      Also I appreciate the intelligent questions.....
      Now as for Christians being rounded up and imprisoned .... Never saw or heard any sucj thing inside the country....
      As a matter of fact several of my Chinese friends are Christian and attend church!!!!
      So not sure where that narrative is coming from

      Well first of all that crazy act that I talk about that is from like almost 15 years ago...

      The reason why I don't talk about the Philippines quite honestly is as you mentioned I have not been there so I really don't have a lot to say about it...
      And quite honestly the more I hear from friends that are there subscribers who are there the less likely I want to go.....
      It sounds like a bit of a logistical nightmare they have constant power outages The Internet Is Not great etc etc and there just seems to be too many challenges that I don't think it my age I want to put up with...
      Maybe if I was younger and maybe if that's all I could you know afford etc etc but I don't think it's for me to be honest...
      I hope that answers your question

    • @ParParWanders
      @ParParWanders 3 месяца назад +1

      That’s hard to believe that you’ve never been there before doc. I really think you should give it a shot. I’ve been to both Thailand and the Philippines and lived for an extended period of time in the Philippines for a good while and I strongly believe you would love it there. Like everywhere there are expats that have kind of lost their ways so to speak and are just not happy in general and so they put everything in a box and slap a negative label on it. And yes, they would be right to say there are power outages every so often and WiFi can be spotty at times but those things can managed quite easily. Most decent hotels have generators and you can setup your own personal WiFi (not WiFi used by the whole hotel) for cheap. And for other types of things yes, the Philippines is definitely a 3rd world country especially as compared to Thailand but that’s kind of what makes it so great as well. And I personally think Thailand is much cheaper than the Philippines in many respects. I know the peso is worth less than the baht but many times the prices are simply just much higher in the Philippines especially ground travel (private car transfers can many times be double or triple that of Thailand). However, if you want to experience an amazing mind blowing island hopping trip for dirt cheap in Coron or El Nido (1,000x better and cheaper than Thailands island hopping) or just simply want to hang out in the city and the amazing malls in the major cities like Manila or Cebu and try some local street food or a massage and grab a San mig light (comparable to a Leo) after OMG it can be fun. Anyways, I’m not trying to sell you the Philippines doc because I think I’m more a Thailand promoter these days but really do think you’d enjoy yourself there. Maybe I’ll try to connect with you next time I make a trip to Southeast Asia and tell you more about it over an ice cold beach beer. Leo’s on me. Cheers Doc! 🍻

I avoid buying food from China, which is prevalent here in USA, because there are so many reports of contamination. My friend lost her dog because of contaminated dog food for instants. Even with all the positive things that you can see about China it is still a communist country and atrocious things happen there with a very autocratic Government.
