It's so nice to see a creepypasta story read channel that isn't just a low effort AI TTS job for ad revenue, you can actually see some effort has been put into this.
OK- considering how smooth and naturalistic AI voices can be , you likely have, but didnt picked up on the synthetic way it's read. There are some tells if you know to listen for. Keep an ear out for: 👉a tight, flat vocal range (ai doesn't understand text so won't stress in "natural" places). 👉Mispronounced words being read at the same speed and confidence as anything else (like it glossed a typo) 👉No attempt to differentiate speakers in dialogue (not stuff like impressions or voices, things like question vs response, mood differences and purpose- AI again doesn't understand any of this so it reads words as words.) 👉 Not conveying pacing (a human narrator at least understands setup, payoff, tense moments, exposition, urgency, release. AI is again homogeneous throughout). 👉 Other tells that a human had bare minimum involvement (listened to one the other day which literally read out a broken < tag verbatim).
The thing is, Reddit is prime real estate for the story reading pipeline, and much of it can be automated: 1) Find a sub or post with ideal content 2) rip the text into a document 3) check it if you want (optional apparently) 4) pump it into a good quality TTS 5) Upload and enable ad revenue 6) Literally profit. So yeah. It's not even just the narration channels, we also see it on meme shorts (where there's a bunch of memes or unhinged tumblr posts read out). Same energy, similar process.
I would love a compilation of stories that are whatever genre the story "A girl the universe forgot" is. I love those kinds of stories that don't have demons or aliens but pure mystery in a world we can relate to.
The best story and production combination ever on this channel! I’ve listened to it dozens of times. My other favorite is The World Isn’t Flat But It Isn’t Round Either.

Truly the best narrator out there and one of my favorite parts of the day, The Dark Somnium makes long boring drives and cleaning buildings entertaining
So different...was the hesitation in your voice a part of the compterization of the alien stone affecting your change? I used to subscribe to a lot of popular Creepypasta channels, but I've fallen off/occasionally unsubbed from all but one! Keep up the good work! I have always really enjoyed the way you use a lot of descriptive and well timed sound effects, as well as featuring other creators for entire multi-part stories. Please don't ever stop doing that stuff! Okay I'm done glazing you now, but I really mean all that! Your "atmospheric narrations", if you will, have gotten me through a lot of tough and sleepless nights. I absolutely love these videos even tho i dont watch with my eyes. Keeps me busy as i can work with one earbud in. The stories and voices are so nice and the extra noises you add are the best
I hope one day I can find a story like the Mimic In My Basement one. Not quite sure what genre that would be, but I love stories that lean into the mystery aspect of the horror. Also, I love the new visuals!
the fact that u dont have 2M + subs is baffling .. your content quality is top notch , we need more listeners .... happy new yr somn, love from india :)
absolutely adore the new visuals with the old tv theme and aliens/conspiracy they fit really well. and as for the compilation I think a cult/occult theme would be awesome. especially ones that are similar to the story about the guy that died for 6 minutes or classics like The Egg for a general theme
I am looooving this new visual! It is so much more engaging and I love that the words are in time with ur voice 😊 it's easier for me to follow the story
this is one of the most well done videos you have posted, the new tv captioning look really adds to the atmosphere, but I really hope it isnt too much work to continue with this and your weekly postings🙏
I dont know if it's where my mind has been leading me, but the shift in stories to cultural doom and the agency humans actually have is the tiniest sliver of comfort, but that's the most anyone can seem to do without direct human contact. Here's to Gen Alpha
I like the visuals, they’re really well made! I just usually have your stories on while I’m doing other things, so I will enjoy them for a few minutes before getting back to work 😅
I literally saw a ufo 12 hours ago when I was working my Night Shift lol. It was a large bright Orange orb that was steadily floating upwards before disappearing. This is the first time I’ve seen it but it’s not the first time the object was seen in my city. Apparently this thing has been popping up randomly throughout the past 2 years. There’s several tiktok videos of this exact sighting. We live in crazy times.
One of my favorite creepypasta/horror stories genres are rules stories. Those stories where the protagonist has to follow a set of rules given to them to survive in a certain place or job.
awesome ronnie always look forward to your uploads :) you try so hard making these and there's so many things that spectate you from others for me. thanks so much have a good day ronnie

This upload made my day! Thank you for the listening material, as it will make the housework far more pleasant! I'm slowly dragging my husband into the fold. It began on Thanksgiving, and my mission will be completed when he selects a story himself for the first time!
The sci fu stories are super good. This one gave me chills knowing that there is a theory that aliens are just future humans. Creepy! I loved this one.
I loved it. I just noticed that you are starting to include visuals in your vids. Nicely done, although I rarely get to watch it coz you're one of the main reasons I subbed to premium coz I liked listening to your stories while doing other things
I like how the beginning of this story is framed. It reminds me IT 2, by bringing all these old friends back to their dreary hometown/island. The Aliens part also helped with giving that impression. I’m only at 18:30, so I’m not sure if it actually is Aliens yet, but this story is very well written, and equally as good of a job was done with the narration and SFX. In my humble opinion, I think your musical ability is what sets you apart from the rest of the creepy pasta narrators. Sure other channels use music, but you use your own, and always seem to match the overall tone and temperament of the story. Keep up the amazing work!!

I absolutely love these videos even tho i dont watch with my eyes. Keeps me busy as i can work with one earbud in. The stories and voices are so nice and the extra noises you add are the best
Glad you like them!
I hope one day I can find a story like the Mimic In My Basement one. Not quite sure what genre that would be, but I love stories that lean into the mystery aspect of the horror. Also, I love the new visuals!
The world stops moving and everyone is at peace when The Dark Somnium uploads a new video 🤌

the fact that u dont have 2M + subs is baffling .. your content quality is top notch , we need more listeners .... happy new yr somn, love from india :)
Loved it, like that you're using new visuals again! Love the alien stories lately 👽🛸
Thank you very much for adding the captions in such a creative way! As a non-native speaker, this helps me a lot!
0:05 seconds into the story already love it
yay! :)
absolutely adore the new visuals with the old tv theme and aliens/conspiracy they fit really well. and as for the compilation I think a cult/occult theme would be awesome. especially ones that are similar to the story about the guy that died for 6 minutes or classics like The Egg for a general theme
I normally listen with RUclips in the background but this change is absolutely stunning man.
I am looooving this new visual! It is so much more engaging and I love that the words are in time with ur voice 😊 it's easier for me to follow the story
this is one of the most well done videos you have posted, the new tv captioning look really adds to the atmosphere, but I really hope it isnt too much work to continue with this and your weekly postings🙏
currently at school, can’t wait to watch this later tonight. keep up the awesome work ❤
have a good day! :)
Holy this vid was actually so clean.

I’d like the nature stories first but I hope you do many compilations. I definitely always enjoy them. Thank you as usual for your amazing narration.
Whoa! The Visuals are off the charts! I mainly listen to you here while I work and I see the growth and experience over the months, keep it up!
Much appreciated!
I dont know if it's where my mind has been leading me, but the shift in stories to cultural doom and the agency humans actually have is the tiniest sliver of comfort, but that's the most anyone can seem to do without direct human contact. Here's to Gen Alpha
Here’s to Millenials, the Hero generation in all of this.
That was a mind bender 😮 Thanks Som!
Wonderful as always! A late happy new year and wishing you all the best, can’t wait to see what else you have planned for us!
Thank you so much!
I like the visuals, they’re really well made! I just usually have your stories on while I’m doing other things, so I will enjoy them for a few minutes before getting back to work 😅
have an awesome day at work!
You have a lot of road themed stories. You should do a compilation of those.
My work is very monotonous at times but listening to your stories makes it much more bearable, thanks a lot and please keep up with your amazing work
Scifi and cosmic horror like this is something I absolutely love. All your cosmic horror stories have really left me satisfied.
That's called the Sun... Don't stare at it too long, it's bad for your eyes 🥸
@@jacoba.gattenby6309 What part of "It was during my night shift" did you like not understand.
i LOVE THAT TV SCREEN great work!
One of my favorite creepypasta/horror stories genres are rules stories. Those stories where the protagonist has to follow a set of rules given to them to survive in a certain place or job.
Youre my favorite spooky story channel, you can create a spooky atmosphere without creepy music etc- calm spooky stuff
awesome ronnie always look forward to your uploads :) you try so hard making these and there's so many things that spectate you from others for me. thanks so much have a good day ronnie
These new visuals are really good! The story was also enjoyable as per usual:) thankyou Ronnie
Wow, terrific story. Different kind of alien story, you did a great job narrating it. Thanks.
NO WAY!! I’m so ready for this, thank you so much for dedicating your time and effort for the last few uploads! We truly appreciate all the work put into them. Excited to listen to this 🫡🫡
thank you :) Hope you enjoy it!
5/24/24 it's been interesting going through your years of work still here. It's interesting for sure thanks again Dark Somnium JDP Underhill
The graphics look great!! Year after year your video quality goes up and up. Great work :)
Glad you like them!
The new video style is really cool. I appreciate the subtitles and the effort to do it.
This upload made my day! Thank you for the listening material, as it will make the housework far more pleasant! I'm slowly dragging my husband into the fold. It began on Thanksgiving, and my mission will be completed when he selects a story himself for the first time!
have a great day! :)
Same but I got my wife hooked she also loves the stories.
I have a couple of videos saved up and I guess I missed the premier of the TV format. Sweet baby Jesus, this is AMAZING!
