Nice stories man! I think your songs and the way you play are really, really awesome! Nice guitars and nice amps are important but the touch is essential. You guys rock🤘
Great interview. Really interesting 👌 I was lucky enough to follow the Cult around the UK when I was young. She Sells is still my favourite song of all time. Thank you Billy 💚
How cool is this?!? For my recent cover of Love Removal Machine I played my Les Paul custom through a Vox Pathfinder and a Marshall DSL60. I wasn't trying to mimic Billy's tones exactly, and i am really proud of the sounds I got! Thanks Billy, for so many iconic rock songs and killer guitar tones! ⚡⚡⚡
Recently watched The Cult play at UEA in Norwich. I'm a long time fan of Billy's playing and guitar sound going back to the 80's and the Love album. My first proper guitar was a Black Les Paul Custom as influenced by the Sonic Temple cover and I still enjoy throwing in some early Cult stuff when playing with bands today. I left the UEA in awe once again of Billy's playing, just magic, I've never experienced a band where the guitar playing and tone is such a big part of the experience. Very happy to see that Billy is still doing the extended intro and middle in Sanctuary, I always make my band mates do that when we cover it and gave them a very smug look at the UEA when Billy dod the same.. :)
Billy ALWAYS has a FANTASTIC guitar sound!!! I love, love, love the raw sound on Electric...my favorite album by far! Electric is the best rock album ever made!
"One day, I don't know how, I don't remember when..." 3:15 What a cosmic statement that is so rock and roll. And that's how you get the Beatles, Stones, on and on.
Awesome Info, I had a couple of no name amps before and finally bought a line6 that I just couldn't stand! I have just recently got a marshal and love it!
Because of you, Johnny Marr, & Andy Summers I have a JC-40. It’s simply the best amp ever. Sounds like a JC-120, but you can carry it without having a hernia 🤣😂
I respect this Man's take on amps......and I've never been able to get Steve Jones 'Nevermind...' tone either..after hearin Billy D cant get it either...I dont feel sooo bad any longer.....I do kno Jones turns the bass all the way down on the Fender amp he used BUT, still......just nope.....not even close either, even with a GIBSON Les Paul CUSTOM......
I have the same attitude he and the punks had in the late 70s/early 80s, don't use what "in." Therefore, to this day, I don't care for Marshalls or Voxs. Wahi' Valleys

I've had better luck and consistent sound from Roland's over every other brand. Not that the others aren't any good, just not consistent sounding for me.
The more I hear from this man the more I like him.
Love Billy, his sound, his style, his passion for music and the whole geek and fan that he is, what a great player.
Agree
I just love Electric album. All time great!
Never Mind The.. has one of the greatest guitar tones ever. Jones’y is a beast! So is Duffy.
IDK anyone who has been able to get the TONE that Steve Jones got on that recording...no one has replicated it !
@@wildbill2122 neither have I. So f’ing. Savage aggressive without being a joke. Just brutal.
Agreed! ⚡

Amazing how good the JC120 still holds up. Yes its the 80's sound but a great workhorse.
I saw your concert in Victoria BC at The Royal Theatre, the first time was when The Cult opened for Metallica and both shows were fantastic

My 2 favorite amps AC30 & Marshall 800, that's all you need. :)
Before Marshall's had channel switching, everyone was using a seperate clean amp. The JC120s where the best option!

finding your own sound is real quest!
I love your Sound Billy, i use an old JC160 and a JCM2000 DSL Head drive in a 4x12 Marshall Jubilee and use the Morley Tripler to change between

That Fender twin must have been dimed! I also had a twin that didn't sound like that!
I Love you Sweet boy
Fender Supersonic will get you that Steve Jones tone
