Yep more than half the top 10 in melon os probs ballads. I think it is to do with relieving stress and also koreans love to relax to ballads during a night out in karaokes etc.
tbh man, I don't rly know what even "kpop" means. Even though it is the fact that idol industry is pretty huge in korean music charts and market, those typical "kpop idol" music should be separated from these type of songs. since the early 2000s, small rock bands were rly popular, and then went through SNSD, Big Bang, and wondergirls, and always, all the time, these "ballad" songs were always by our side. it meant WAY more for us than those kpop songs these days. these are the songs that we can heal, cry, remember, and smiles by just listening to it. but most "kpop" fans, they don't care about these type of songs, because they just don't get the meaning from delivered lyrics. kpop = good looking idols with make ups + cool choreography + addictive hooks in english
Suhyun has - easily! - one of the clearest, simply pleasant voices to listen to, but a lot of people really sleep on Chanhyuk's vocals. He's fantastic.
Yes! His voice is extremely good. He just tends to write music that brings out her voice more, which is a shame (well, I don't know if it's a "shame" exactly because her voice is so beautiful, but I do like his voice so much). I love the live version of this song, because you can see how much emotion he puts into his performances.
I rate that you guys looked at this - most of the other "popular" reactors probably won't go near it (well haven't) as they're not as well known internationally and won't bring them views (despite it destroying the charts in SK and the quality of the song) but AKMU deserve the attention, they're absolutely class

If you really think about it, Billie Eilish and Finneas are the Western versions of AKMU.

Almost a month after being released this song is still topping most charts in Korea.
This song still #1 On Melon (The biggest music platform in South Korea) a lot of artist comeback but still they can't beat AKMU on chart.
