Been here when I was 11! Went in a back room in the kitchen and half the ceiling fell on me and a friend. Didn't hurt us tho! Very creepy. Also saw something move in a watch tower. And my great uncle Dave Ward was a security guard there for 18 years. He told mannny chilling stories!
This channel is way underrated. I would think they would have way more subscribers. These guys are amazing at what they do. Responsible respectful and they do good research. Aand they try to help those spirits that need help. Great job guys!
That was VERY GOOD! No funky music, no drama....just serious investigating. I do have a question. When the footsteps and loud bang were heard near the end of the investigation, I heard what sounded like a whispered "cha cha cha" right after the bang. Was that any of you?

That shadow man really looks like an apparition to me and not a fake or a living person. The left side of it looks "see through" on the arm and leg. Amazing!

That last room on the left (rubber room) right by the stairwell, on the infirmary floor. That's where I encountered the banging on the pipes. The sounds you heard was almost exactly what I heard. Well except I was in the room when it happened. There were two of us on the top floor but I was the only one in the room. We both heard it, I pivot turned out of the room and wouldn't stop till I reached the stairs by the doc/dentist offices. Oh and the emf went ballistic when I walked in the room seconds before the pipe was hit. I want to go back there again Moundsville is truly a very active spot.
That was awesome! I have seen a shadow man 7 ft tall straight on with my own eyes. I never want to see anything like that again. I love watching these type of investigations and ya'll are some of the best! but I'll leave it up to you and just watch on RUclips after my experience. As a matter of fact, I wake every morning and say out loud "I know you spirits exist, but you are not to touch me, talk to me, or reveal yourself ever". ha! Thanks for sharing!

Well if you wanna do a very heavy investigation, you can try investigating the most horrifying plane crash site of the USA. I'm talking about the American Flight 191 Crash Site in Illinois where it's said that the passengers who died there are restless.
You guys are more entertaining and interesting than some of the other teams out there, some of them I get so bored watching them because they are so over confident and full of themselves, you guys aren't like that. Ghost Hunters(TAPS) made a sad attempt to "debunk" this pic during their investigation of Moundsville State Prison, while claiming it was Polly Gear's shadow in the pic.
Notice the shadow is behind the 3" to 4" white pipe that runs from the floor to ceiling.
So if that was Polly's shadow in the pic, the shadow would cover some of the pipe.
Great episode guys. At the very beginning when the pod started going off it sure did remind me of morse code. You might want to have someone that knows code listen to that. Just a thought. Can't wait for the next episode.
yeah that is exactly what i thought. i dont really kno enough to see but i would love to kno. it would make sense. inmates today sometimes use it to communicate back and forth.

It seems to me that the shadow should be cast across the floor to the wall. In other words, even if the light was close to the floor, you should still see the person's shadow being projected *_ON_* the floor, too. And of course, this would mean that the light has to be *_behind_* the camera-person in order for it to be *_her_* own shadow.
The shadow in the photo *_looks_* like a shadow, but it's just hard to explain as such.

I'm curious; and this is a sincere question, why didn't you snap some photos with the same make and model digital camera that Polly used while the pod was active? Hi ! - If you watch the netting on the left hand side of the passage way after the prison door slams (3-08) - There seems to be a white lite appear at the end ??? - A little strange !

I can see the WV State Penn from my house. I've been all through it...I think 6 times.
Not touring...my father worked maintenance there after he quit working as a Correctional Officer. I can attest to some of what's said about it. It's not a place you really want to be by yourself, that's for sure. I think your mind messes with you, a lot, too. My Dad said around the Sugar Shack area was his eeriest feelings. He said he felt he was def not alone. He was never a person to exaggerate about that kind of thing. He was serious. My Dad was a strong big guy, he didn't scare easily ...but he never would go back down there to do maintenance, alone, again. He had soooo many stories from when he worked there as an Officer to when he became maintenance after they moved the prisoners and opened it up for tours.

Also why didn't Polly (sorry have Holly down below) just have one of those professional videographers- and I am not so sure of that whole RimPod thing that's probably the so called energy they are feeling. I have seen almost every major investigation documentary and paranormal show available- and only a handful have been authentic manifestations. Its just rare that the timing is right on and spirits are willing to reveal themselves.

you would think that an abandoned place like this would be quiet. Ha! not even close. Its almost as if the place is still occupied, but you cant see it. well, most of the time. This very picture, is the reason I went in the first place. People that truly think that this pic is faux, will not feel that way once they go to this place. If you have ever heard the term "the air was so thick you could cut it with a knife", this place puts that feeling to life. To me it was kind of like walking through cob webs. But then again, most people cannot sense the things I can.
The 998 individuals whom lost their lives in these walls are still doing hard time !! Not to mention the prison is built over native American burial ground.
Paranormal Quest Wow. I knew the numbers were up their, but I couldn't remember how many. Could you even imagine living a life in prison, over and over, and over again...for eternity? I hope that the souls in this agony find a way out. Into the light,,,,,or the darkness. they need to move on. But I guess in a way, they are already in hell. Just that it is their own personal hell. That place is so dark. You were exactly right when you said that the awful feeling begins as soon as you set your eyes to it. I actually had the camera running when I seen it for the first time... My exact words : " Holy shit. What did I just get myself into?" I felt a jolt as soon as my feet touched the ground. I'm more of a spiritual person, than a religious one. But I took about 10 quiet minutes to pray, get my head right, and focus on calming my heart. I heard that it was built on a Native American burial ground before I went. I had prepared myself for that. What I didn't know, was that they didn't respect it AT ALL, when it was built. The whole damn place is cursed. No wonder their was death and chaos. I want you guys to know that I have a lot of respect and admiration for what you do, and try to achieve. I wish you the very best in all your future investigations, and I pray that you leave them safe, healthy (physically and emotionally), and wiser in the knowledge you gather. I plan on uploading my video from this place soon, and I will hit you back when its up. Its one of the most active locations Ive ever been to.

If you get someone to stand holding a camera with another person with a light source behind the person holding the camera this would cast a shadow that would be enabled to be photographed.

Thank you Stephen Howlett.. I promise everyone that this photo of a shadow man is very much the truth. I know (now) that TAPS - Ghost Hunters, were using my photo for their ratings. they never showed on air where I told them what happened and how. They asked me dozens of questions that had nothing to do with this and then edited out what they wanted to benefit their show. That was entirely unfair and I have said so since they did it, and I have even challenged TAPS to come back to the Pen with me and truly show how I experienced this shadow man. They refuse, they don't want me to debunk them. I had nothing to gain or lose showing this photo. all I wanted was for other investigators to see what a shadow person looked like, and since I was face to face with it before backing off to snap the photo, I had complete faith in what i saw and was fortunate enough to snap one photo in total darkness and capture it. I have never begged anyone to believe it, I don't feel I have to, my story of it will explain it . The photo AND camera have been examined by a forensic photographer in a Lab in Charleston wv , he found no fault, no tampering with either the photo ... camera ... or the MINI CDR the photo was taken on.

Beginning of this year i got attack by a shadow person. Its not nice at all, I was scared for my life as they were feeding from me because i showed fear, But now i no what they are, i don't get scared & it hasn't came back since. :")
Happened to my mother in the 1970's
We had a shadow man it appeared in our house around 2 weeks before my mom fell broke her leg - Another week later she was dead !!! - I am not joking I would not joke about that !
Us too! We had just got a new digital camera and it had the feature of quick shots where it snaps one shot after another. I was trying it out and taking the rapid successive shots of our dogs walking around the living room. In four shots this black shape passed in front of the dog closest to me and you couldn't see the dog through it. When we shuffled through the shots quickly, you could see it moving from left to right in front of the dog. The photos were about 2 seconds apart. very creepy. the dog closest to me where the shadow was died roughly a month later from acute kidney failure.
At around 17:26 you can see what appears to be a solid black orb or shadow cross in front of the left portion of the door frame. Could this have been one of the investigator's shadows, or could this be the spirit?

even though this video is couple years old an I haven't seen comments about it but between 10:09 and 10:12 you have a EVP I don't know if anyone else on the comment bored caught that. I only did one tour of the penitentiary before I left for basic an got good EVP's I am looking forward to coming home from deployment to do another tour or a over night here soon really my first place to investigate and too get EVP's in almost every room I went to.

I Have a scary story that will keep you up all night. And The scariest part is that it’s true
So when I was around 4-6 (Most likely not it)
And had a nightmare. The nightmare was where a man and woman brutally killed my family one by one. I run out of the house and fall to the ground hopeless. I’m not at my house anymore. I’m somewhere outside a little house and in front of me I see a little building and in the windows I see the woman kill my mom with a knife, brutally stabbing her. I screamed and cried until I woke up. Terrified I went to my mom about it and we both forgot about it the next day. Now skip towards when I’m 11. I have the dream again. Now I’m confused and forget about it ONCE AGAIN! A few weeks later I’m going to my sisters Christmas parade(this was only a few weeks ago but I’m 12 now) and as I look out my window we take a turn and my heart skips a beat, I see the exact same place in my dream. Now tell me, what would’ve you done? I didn’t scream or yell but stayed quiet as I stared at it. IT WAS THE EXACT SAME PLACE! I will never forget about it...
I've got a true scary story. But I didn't experience it. My sister did.
So my sister was making a peanut butter sandwich in the kitchen when she was 11 or 12 I think (she's 19 now, think I was 1). And she heard like, loud breathing is how she told me. Like, someone ran 15 miles non-stop. She was FREAKED out. So she looked around; nothing there, but she saw the bathroom window was open. She thought someone might've broke in. So she RAN into the living room to tell our mother. My mom grabbed a knife, looked in the bathroom, no one there. So my sister thought it might've came from the washing machine room. My mom open the door when no one was there. She told my sister to calm down and that no one broke in or anything. So my mom and I went back in the living room, and my sis was back in the kitchen. Then, she heard it AGAIN! So she's telling me this story like, 10 years after this and she told me that she just took the sandwich, and ran. That's all she told me. We moved out though. That house was mildly haunted.

If you look at the original photo the size of the shadow man looks to be well within scale of the doorway to the cafe !...
... Steves shadow on the back wall does prove alot ! - It was not an accident - it could not have be faked using someone elses shadow - more likely Its got to be genuine
Maybe I missed it but can the photo be tested itself to determine if it is genuine or not? Ghost Adventures had a video they had professionally checked and it proved that it was genuine. This would help. By trying to recreate the moment the original picture was taken wouldn't prove or disprove the validity of the original picture. I like history but I will admit that I am a sceptic even though I have been on many hunts.
Actually, there was a forensic scientist than did his own study on the photo inside the prison and determined that it was not a human person standing there. He did not believe in ghosts, so he wouldn’t say it was one. But he did say it was not a human standing there.

I'm a bit disappointed. At the 8:00 mark, you note that people who were debunking the photo weren't proving anything because they didn't use all the elements in which the photograph was taken. The issue is, you guys didn't either. The first thing I would have done would have been to acquire a Sony Mavica (7:29) that was mentioned, and recreate possible causes; like a person standing at the door while the flash was pointed towards the right-side wall (and not down the hallway). This flash issue is extremely important, considering the camera that was being used. It would have been nice to see the photograph actually being investigated.
I will test it all when I pass. I've got business that can I plan to do only after.

The truth behind the shadow man is : it is a shadow of a living person - what shadow would show the lines of what you were wearing if it was paranormal? This person is wearing trousers and a jacket that stops at the hips - producing that sharp line at the end of the jacket - nor would you be able to tell this person was wearing his hood up - you can tell these things as it is a normal shadow of a person - a paranormal black shadow shows the outline of a person and not what he is wearing - there would be no sharp lines where the jacket stops suddenly.

The shadow man is wearing trainers, you can see where his trousers end, and a black t-shirt, you can see his arms are a different colour. Only my opinion but it looks a guy standing there, not saying she's lying it could be a stranger to her, that's even scarier. I'd rather face a ghost than a potentially violet human
