Presiding Bishop Chandler Owens

Vintage Sermon preached live at Temple of Deliverance COGIC during the pastorate of Bishop GE Patterson for the Church Dedication service- July 5, 1987
Bishop Chandler Owens was born in Birmingham, Alabama on October 2, 1931,
Bishop Chandler Owens started preaching as a young child of about four or five years old, according to his testimony. His ministry spanned more than seven decades;
Bishop Owens, with dedication and loyalty, served the Church of God in Christ
in various leadership roles, including International President of the
Youth Congress, Chairman of the Constitution Committee Second Assistant, Presiding Bishop and First Assistant Presiding Bishop, Preacher, Teacher, Pastor of the Greater Community Church in Marietta, Georgia, and Prelate of the Central Georgia Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction.
His heart for missions led him through financial and through various other
means to establish churches, schools, and transportation for ministries
in the Phillippines, India, Malawi, and Central Africa.
In November 1996, the General Assembly selected Bishop Chandler David Owens, Bishop Ford's First Assistant Presiding Bishop, as the fifth leader of the denomination.
Bishop Owens brought to the office of Presiding Bishop a more collegial
leadership style.
Bishop Ford's leadership style was characterized as authoritarian and agressive, and thought by some to have been operated behind the scenes, involving more heavy political action than diplomatic public governance.
Bishop Chandler Owens and the new generation leaders in his cabinet,
faced the awesome challenge of bringing the Church into ministry in the
21st Century.

I love when the Preacher is a lover of history the story is told much better, a scholar.
Preaching is so much different now when I was coming up in church. People preach about what people had done to you or people don’t like you, or people hating on you because you have Christ. What about repentance, deliverance, being born again saving soul for Christ. They preach about sowing a seed to the ministry. Money, money, money 💰 and that all they want from you, and that not Christ like.

I loved Bishop Patterson! I never attended a service with him in person, but that man's anointing, reached through the screen for me every time! Even, just hearing his voice, this morning, and remembering how God used him in my life, brings tears in my eyes and comfort to my soul, as if he is even speaking to me in this closing.
I tuned in because I have never heard Bishop Owens, I did indeed enjoy this word, and can see why they were friends. Their preaching style seems similar. Thank you for the upload. It is a blessing to be able to pull up the preachers of yesteryears and receive a blessing. God bless you!

Bishop Owens was the only GB member that supported then apostle G E Patterson when no one did. God bless the memory of former PB Chandeller David Owens Sr and Gilbert Earl Patterson. On the side note...When Bishop Owens was elected to the GB it was then PB Bishop J O Patterson Sr that gave Bishop Owens his middle name as the other 11 board member had middle names but Bishop Owens.
Never knew that. It's a powerful name. Great history lesson
And Bishop G.E. Patterson supported this great vessel Bishop Owens once he became presiding Bishop…even honored him out in the open by giving him something at a Convocation…they were great friends and two of whom God has me studying

Our God has not changed his message. The sad truth is that the messengers have denied His eternal message. If we can get back to believing the Eternal God and take his word and leave the mess out. Then we can meet together in Heaven with the master of the Gospel. Love in Jsus Christ our Lord and Savior.
