I managed to complete this project with only a couple of moments of utter despair, and look forward to having a phone that actually works for more than an hour or two before crapping out.
My phone and my wife's Honor 8 are both a little less than two years old. The batteries very suddenly went bad. The typical behavior was to suddenly shut down while reporting 50 or 60 percent power.
The battery offered in the link above is out of stock, so I bought one on Amazon for about $15 that was listed as compatible with both the Honor 8 and the Huawei P9. It came with a kit of tools (guitar pick, screwdrivers, SIM ejector, plastic pry tool and a suction cup). It didn't come with any glue or tape for reassembly, but I think the result will hold together well inside the case that I use.
First moment of despair: Removing the old battery was extremely difficult due to the adhesive used. I wasn't sure I would be able to succeed without breaking something or setting myself on fire, but I eventually got it loose.
Second moment of despair: The phone would not boot. Plugging in the charger showed 67%, but I couldn't get Android to start up.
The battery test recommended at 5:09 is REALLY important, because it helped me discover that the side buttons were not working.
I had missed reconnecting the switches. After 20 minutes or so of feeling like I'd made a horrible mistake, I watched ruclips.net/video/Ea_hhtT5rNU/видео.html and realized that I had left the ribbon cable under the motherboard.
I eventually ended up without any leftover pieces, and if the battery problems go away, I'll be pretty pleased with this. It remains to be seen whether I'll try this with my wife's phone as well.

Nice video! Got OEM battery from a eBay seller in Socal. Took me about 30mins to do this. Read a few of the comments over and over while waiting for the battery to arrive. Figured it's best to reuse the adhesive as it's looks like a hassle to remove old adhesive and replace with new. The toughest part if removing the battery. Start at top left. Slow get it loosen and when you can see the back side start prying where the adhesive is holding the battery down. Power test and ready assemble. Make sure to push the adhesive back evenly around the edges to get a good seal. Once phone was assembled I hear the edges again with the heat gun and then pressed/rubbed the edges with my fingers to makes sure the glass cover was back evenly in place.

I did this battery repair a month ago. Fixed all the draining issues of the honor 8. If you're considering it don't be afraid. It's much easier than it looks and totally worth the 10-15 dollars for a new battery on eBay.

Thank you SO MUCH for this guide!!! I absolutely love my phone and didn't want to have to get a new one, or the headache of shopping for one to try to replace the one I have my contacts stored in / enjoy using. The ONLY thing I'd like you to add is when removing the board, people who have the sim chip and mini memory NEED to remove that FIRST before touching the board to get at the battery. I accidentally bent mine a little bit before I realized... but I was able to use my jeweler's pliers to straighten it out & fix it. Your guide enabled me to install a new, working, battery and saved my phone. I'm grateful :)

Lacking either a heat gun or decent hair dryer, I used my wife’s heating pad (standard drugstore fare), removed from its fabric pouch, set on high and folded in half with my phone (off!) inside for 3-5 minutes, then switched it down to medium and used it as my work pad in hopes the battery adhesive would stay warm. This worked pretty well, but I also had plenty of plastic spudgers plus a metal spudger that I used for the initial access and to slide around the rim. For getting the battery itself out, I used one playing card plus an old credit card (since I received a replacement for it this month).
I did not bother with full removal of the frame, though I did remove all of the 4mm black screws around it. I just lifted up the side blocking the battery connector.
I closed it back up using the original adhesive which I’d kept warm by leaving the back on the pad while I worked, then left it under a heavy book for a few minutes while it cooled under pressure. It seems to have gone together OK, but I do have a new back panel with adhesive on order if I decide I’m willing to tackle moving the fingerprint sensor. It's going to be living in a case all the time anyway, but I do have a steel sheet on it for a magnet mount so if that's pulling off the back then I'll replace the adhesive or back.

Some of my observations from replacing today :
    Hair dryer works
Make sure to have the repair kit....do not skip buying this....everything is essential
Remove all the screws except one pink one that holds the motherboard and remove the white casing inside...this needs to be removed so you can disconnect the connectors
Do not remove mother board or the bottom ones
I bought an adhesive from eBay. This doesn't work because you can't clean the old cover completely off of old adhesive. Just by a new cover with adhesive.
My old cover worked with the remaining adhesive
Have patience. This job will take about 2 hours

Whilst pulling the battery out I damaged the cable screen, the one which is attached to the back of the screen. Pay a lot of attention when you try to pull the battery out because there will be a lot of glue and the battery is likely to tear out the cables. You are going to need to the plastic card to get under the battery so that you`ll not be pulling on the cables under the battery as much. As far as my phone goes, that is now a throw away. If I had to do it again I would definitely use a hairdryer to try an make the vasrt amount of glue under the battery more liquid.

This was pretty difficult and sketchy for me but I managed to do it. Battery check. Audio check. Texting check. Camera check.
    1) Removing the back cover was not easy. I had to blow dry it for several minutes focusing on the corner that I wanted to use the suction cup to pull off from. As a result of this, the paint from the back cover (top of phone near the camera lens) melted. You should be able to hear a sound when you begin pulling on the suction cup that gives the impression that adhesive glue is being separated from the back cover. If you don't hear that sound, you need to heat the edges more. Just heat the edges/corners where the suction cup will be on ... not the entire phone.
    2) I only removed the two screws at the top of the battery near the camera lens. Once I did that, I began prying open the battery with a plastic guitar pick. I thought removing the back cover was going to be the hardest part but nope ... the battery seems to have like 5x more adhesive ... frustrating is an understatement. I then reached for a metal flat screwdriver because I had better grip on it. I was using so much force on this tool to remove the battery that it punctured the plastic that the battery was covered in and began smoking a little. I stopped immediately, put on some working glasses and switched to the plastic guitar pick. I created enough "pull" on the battery with the metal flat screwdriver that I was able to have my friend insert another guitar pick into the gap of the corner of the battery while I inserted a plastic pick into it to give him more opening. Once that guitar pick was inserted into one of the corners of the battery, I dragged the guitar pick along the edges of the battery to separate the adhesive.
    3) I lifted up the right latch/lever thing to pull out the connecting strip from the battery. I then yanked the battery out ... put the new one in ... screwed the (2) screws back in ... put the damaged back cover back in ... inserted my sim card back into the slow and booted the phone praying that it worked given how sketchy this entire process was. It booted up and I then tested everything to ensure the phone is 100%. It ain't pretty but it works fine.
Took me about 45 minutes total - best of luck. I am not the most adept person when it comes to these things but I know how to use the basic tools and can build a computer from scratch.

It is Honor 8, not Huawei Honor 8. You could not say Fiat Ferrari even though they belong to same group.

Danke, gern geschehen. (grins)
