Oh my god the cubist period variation is so beautiful. Watching the score gradually filling up with complexity to me at least is stunning. I play first horn in this piece currently and I absolutely adore the horn line at measure 49, it’s so fun to play. Overall I love this piece but those were just some highlights. Oh also the blue period variation was absolutely tearjerking
Timestamps of each part 0:04 - Allegro non troppo, con brio 1:19 - Maestoso 1:28 - Andante lamentoso 3:41 - Milton allegro e scherzando 4:50 - L'istesso tempo 5:02 - Allegretto grazioso 7:04 - Allegro con fuoco 7:51 - Allegro con fuoco (2nd part) 8:51 - End
It's a pain in the ass to play (did it for a concert). I can't remember the note exactly but it's a high e or something, which is nearly impossible to do with 8th grade lungs 😭
