Was Teak an alternative? We had a table made in Mexico with eight matching wood chairs by one of the local carpenters. They used a local wood very similar to teak but half the cost. It does require oiling from time to time though.
@@ManorWood You should see what happens with some of the stuff that comes off the sawmill sometimes.... I've had boards quite literally explode apart because of the stress in them.
With iroko that is very hard, I tried to cut in the table saw in vertical with saw about 9 cms in both directions and then goes to bandsaw. You need pass by jointer again. Even is more operations is faster.
Ceramic Guides spark that's just how that work under load, tension set the same as every. a wood mixer blade would have been ok but mine was at the sharpeners :(

No its from my local Mill , but they buy it in for me, first beam was fine just the 2nd that was under pressure or case hardened . I needed to use a wood mizer blade but it was out for shaperning
Manor Wood How many TPI was that blade? I have a Felder FB510 as well and was looking to buy the Woodmaster CT 1.3TPI from Lennox. I heard it leaves a decent finish and is lightning fast.
Iroko is such a mixed bag... The good pieces are positively awesome, but when it's bad, it's really, really bad, displaying massive tension, interlocking grain that tears out and at times, just not glueable... Also, odd pieces are inclined to set me off in coughing fits. I avoid it nowadays. I'm a little confused as to why you were jointing (surfacing) the material prior to re-sawing and cutting out components. Personally, I always get down to smaller components prior to flattening and straightening.
All sounds about right and good advice to all on this channel , I would add order 20% more that you would for oak and charge more.:! :) .. so I joint the slabs I am going to resew for 2 reasons 1, Gives me a perfect reference edges 2, I only have to re thickness the cut cut edge of the 2 boards after and as one side is already done I know the finished setting for the thicknesser.
I'm sure there were sparks coming from the bandsaw blade. Man, that Iroko blunted everything I'd got when making a workbench framework.
Ceramic guides do spark, sometimes
Looks so green outside - thought you would be in snow by now. Enjoyed the video - thanks.
Crazy tension on that board, wood sometimes has a mind all of its own!
I am not an Iroko fan I must say , with oak I would have felt it but the finished door looks great.

Thanks, I’ve definitely learned something here. Not that I’ll ever make anything so big, but also translated to smaller projects it’s insightful
Cheers
Man, I feel for ya, I really do. We all have it happen and depending on the job and materials, can cost dearly. Carry on the awesome work mate!
Thank you 😊 I

Man all that felder equipment 🤤🤤🤤. Excited to see the rest of the build. Keep it up.
Who the hell gives this video a “thumbs down?”
Brilliant work, my friend!
I just watched this one again, some how I missed the sparks in the dust collection hose the first time. Scary stuff sometimes.
Sparks are just ceramic guides it’s normal
Congratulation on passing the 50k subscribers. Great work as usual Andy.
Cheers Phil !!
Wow, man... Certainly making you work for it today👍
Man that looked like a hard slog, made you work for your money today, got there in the end though, top man 👍👍👍👍

If to saw a Board along, on a tape saw, it was necessary to give water or oil,the tape would not break!
Amazing shop!
On any given day on any given project we fight the wood. Some days the wood fights back.
I love that !! Nice one
Wow. You've got some premium tools
more cost effective than paying staff i afraid to say
@@ManorWood don't need a ciggy break, won't talk back etc etc
Lol... I like that:)
and ask Why .....? all the time or is that my son Lol
@@ManorWood I completely agree. And more fun to use - and better results, happier customers, more options in creating etc.
Why was the bandsaw throwing sparks at 5:17? Seems also the sawblade slowed down, probably too much tensions on blade bent it and ground the fixture?

@@ManorWood much appreciated, thanks for the descriptive videos as well, you've got nice machines btw.
what type of extension tables are those and what type of band saw blade are you using to resew?
Awesome to watch.👍
Hello Where did you find the yellow peace you use on the bandsaw? By the way, nice solution for the problems.
It's called the Magswitch Resaw Guide. There are numerous options available.
Dear Gary Thx for the quick reaction. I love to watch your videos. Allways inspiring
Is the bandsaw a Felder fb510?

@@ManorWood thanks so much.
This is awesome man 😍🌺
Would a more powerful motor in the felder solve the problem.
No just a better blade really , but when iroko wants to twist there’s no stopping it
Enjoyed and Thumbs Up
Thanks for the feedback :)
Are those noise cancelling headphones? Is the ariel for Bluetooth. Great film by the way!😁
Cheers , there DAB radio headphones
🤔 What brand are they? And are they any good?
Is it older very dry wood? Is that what made the cut so difficult?

You might benefit from an auto feed on that planer.
