The exact effect that all essential Fall tunes have had on me to this very day. Utterly mesmerizing! Much credit is or ought to also be equally given to The Mekons, The Membranes, Sonic Youth, Swell Maps/Nikki Sudden, The Jacobites, The Go Betweens and Alex Chilton; for the similar reasons.
This is a treasure. I didn't ever expect to see Elves live. At the start, Brix seems a little bit nervous with something (propably with someone in front). Steven's doing a great job in bass .
"I wanna be your..." oops wrong song; or is it? QOTSA's first album also has some very Stooges licks. Everyone does it in art; eg comics legend Wally Wood: "Never draw anything you can copy, never copy anything you can trace, never trace anything you can cut out and paste up."
Thats it..Stooges! Couldnt put my finger on it...yeah perfect saying.....Most raw Fall tune (or stooges....but it isnt Stooges...Brittish stooges then...blablabla....
I hate comparisons, but has anyone ever wondered between the greatness of talent between Steve Hanley and Peter Hook? I sometimes imagine they are separated at birth and no one will figure who rules the bass between the two of them.
Yes, but they're different. Both super groove-y, but different somehow. But yeh you gotta ask what in 70's Manchster would produce 2 great bass line riffers like that
The rules don't apply to the Fall, seriously. They were contemporaneous with, and shared a great deal of structural similarities with, early Hip-Hop. And in that tradition, if they felt like taking someones shit and looping it for their man to rant over, they went ahead and did it. They had not the slightest compunction about it. And neither should you.
Love these kind of live recordings of The Fall, shot on videotape. They were never a high definition kind of band!
The fantastic leagues against me / the fantastic is … in league … against me
Really insanely tough..Mark pushing everyone to something intense..amazing!
Yes this sure is a treasure !! Love this track !! 🎤🎶
Steve Hanley for President in 2020. Are ye with me lads.
Utterly mesmerising

pretty sure the fall is my favourite band but find it weird how mark complained about people ripping the fall of despite having songs like this
Thanks!! One of the most raw Fall tune (or Stooges) ever.

I like to think of this song as Mark putting a new engine in an old car ;)
Only one person who goes on stage with the lyrics on a piece of paper and no one's arsed 🙃
There are only two bands which can actually cover the intensity of this song and transform it into something totally new: the swans and the fall.
I didn't know that Swans did a cover version of IWBYD.
Now I wanna be your elf!!
Incredible, to be fair. What more do you say?
Working hard as always the mighty Fall
The One person selecting the down thumb was kicked by Brix at 0:21.
excellent!
yum yum
When will the good scotch return...with its scarred splendour.
Alex Harvey?
Knocks the piss out of the studio version.
@costas2by4 I'll upload 2x4 for you, it's from the same gig.

Can't rule out the awesomeness of bass player, JJ Burnell.
@@KurtSlotkowski-hj8jd great shout ✌️MIB
@LiveAtReykjavik Thank you so much. You get it, my nickname...

I just want to be your elf
And now I wanna be your elf, and now I wanna be your elf, and now I wanna be your elf..SO COME ON!
Where is the Iceland one

He often changed the lyrics when he as I call it, "borrowed from influences" he had a great choice of Covers I thought? ✌️
never trust the elves! Keep trust in scotch though!!!
Marc said to Iggy I wanna be your dog...erm I mean your Elves
One of my least favorite Fall songs. The Stooges want their riff back. Great album otherwise.
Iggy has had it, its been done, if he requires royalties he should send a stamp addressed envelope to the Outer Hebrides✌️
