I see it through the musician lens of “the old school” and people constantly saying that social media is the only way to move forward and branch out. What about before…..? It worked “back then”. Much of what worked back then doesn't exist anymore, ie. Yellow pages. There were no reviews, no blogs or abundant free (partial) information. The market has come to expect free, and businesses have fed this appetite. The market has changed dramatically, and will never return to how it was.

In the end we need to remind ourselves that we don't work for Instagram / Facebook etc. - but for our own business AND the people that benefit from your business' problem-solving. Right? I think it hard nowadays to market your business without social media because most of the costumers specially young people are using them , and by the way RUclips and Pinterest are considered social media platforms but they function differently than insta and Facebook. we can't escape social media in this age

(I'm showing my age here)...but I managed to get 15k+ subscribers back in 2006 when Facebook was still a baby and many other social media platforms weren't even born. 😅
@@nehal.bhargav Started with local business networking group meetings up to 6 times a week, and then writing articles for printed magazines and journals. Then got asked to speak at local groups and this built up to speaking at bigger events, national conferences and then international conferences. It culminated in being invited to speak at Harvard University. (7 years prior to that, I was working at McDonalds.) Whilst speaking, my focus was always on providing tons of advice, being helpful, and not trying to sell them anything.
Wanted to say how intro is relaxing with that old music. And then a firecracker exploded ...all while I eat my launch and have my noise cancel headphones on. So....dont do that shit.
@@KimJimenez I’m just being honest, you could have at least mentioned an email list or even a group texting chat ya know. I grow my business word of mouth, usually friends of friends which helps because I keep a circle of good friends locally which in turn transcends into the surrounding towns 😅 you can easily find yourself overwhelmed with too much business, you be surprised how many local people depend on me (and will on you guys too)… all I did was tell a few store and home owners I’m handy and mechanically inclined, (you tell the good people what you do/offer and be patient) now I’m the neighborhood handyman/mechanic 🤷🏿🫡🥰
