    no one ever understands the true meaning of this phrase: “see Naples and then die "means that at least once in your life, before you die you have to see it so as not to lose its beauty and you have to find the time to do it

    • @danieledaccardi3648

I am sorry to disagree, and doing that in a good and constructive way but the original meaning of the sentence was:"You have to see Naples before you die" or "then you can even die". No lost of beauty. It sounds quite odd to me. Cheers

    I'm from Naples, born and bred. In reality to clarify a bit, the translation is rough. The saying goes like this "See Naples and then you can even die", because once you have seen it there is anything else that can match the same beauty, that's the meaning :). I know it can sound a little bit presumptuos, but it's not, it must be taken more like a celebration of a really unique(rare combination of an incredible set of natural features like the gulf, the Mons. Vesuvius, together with the amazing rich and broad variety of incredible food, amazing history and architecture of castles, palaces and parks and full of history gem like our city truly is.) Naples is not for everyone because it's bot one of these aseptic flat and very usual destination, quite too standardized, it is very alive and people are full of fantasy and love. We have a lot of problems, but in the end.. who doesn't?! Peace bro.

    Two things: from Naples it's just a bus-ride to Pompei and Herculaneum - the two cities that have been discovered intact from the 1stCentury volcano eruption of Vesuvius.
    The other is...yep, tons of churches. But the thing is: you walk into one that is being used today and in many, you go downstairs and find a church/monastery dating from around 1st century...and then, underneath that, is the original pagan building upon which the later church was built! It's Time Travel underground & you'll never forget it! There's magic in the very air of Naples!!

    This video does not talk about the very first essence of Naples. Naples is first of all a singing and musical city. The essence of the Neapolitan is singing. The Neapolitan repertoire is infinite and has been sung by the greatest tenors of all time. Enrico Caruso, one of the greatest tenors of all time and the first true world superstar of singing, was from Naples. In fact, there is the saying: I am Neapolitan and if I don't sing I die.

    about the "see naples and die" there's different probable origins to that. first of all if was written by goethe on a travel diary he had, in a meaning of "after you see the beaty of this city, you are completed". The same frase was also reused by other writers and people in general the same way. in fact it was one of the most important city of the time and everyone from the world wanted to go there. some historians tho say it also derives from an old pratices done to people who was gonna get killed for capital punishment after a process. Usually they were "taken for a walk" through some of the most iconic and beautiful places of the city before getting their punishment

    Southern Europeans are a lot tanner than us Northern Europeans I’m jealous of their hot weather

    • @andrearoma5785
      @andrearoma5785 5 месяцев назад

      It's cultural, we like to be tanned and we stay in the sun all summer: if you are pale, it looks like you're sick, or you stay home and don't enjoy the sea and outdoor life. On the other hand, we basically are like spanish, greek, turks: a little darker than northern europeans, a little less dark than north africans. But there's a lot of shades, because south italy also had invasions from the vikings, so blonde hair, blue eyes and pale white skin are common too. In any case anyway are dna is different and we don't burn in the sun, as a guy from UK or sweden would. You picome pinker and irritated, we get more tanned since the firset moment with little pain. The funny thing is when we're on a beach, the italians stay in the sun, and the north africans stay away from the sun. After a couple weeks we turn much darker then them, and nobody can say anymore who's the african, and who's the italian!
