18-åriga Maria är född och uppvuxen i Zaporizjzja i Ukraina där hon var en av deltagarna i landets upplaga av The Voice.
Maria och hennes mamma flydde landet för tryggheten i Sverige, där hennes moster bor, medan hennes pappa tvingades stanna kvar. Fast besluten att inte låta kriget ta ifrån henne drömmarna sökte hon upp en mängd personer som sysslar med musik vilket ledde till att Maria framträdde på galan ”Hela Sverige skramlar”.
Vid sidan av artistkarriären går Maria på musikskolan Lilla Akademien i Stockholm och läser en distanskurs på konstuniversitetet i Kiev.
Bidraget ”Never Give Up” är självbiografiskt och handlar just om att följa sina drömmar och att aldrig ge upp, trots det som händer i världen.

As Ukrainian, I would like to thank local composers, who wrote this song for 17-years old girl from Ukraine and gave her stage and support. Seeing and knowing this is really melting my heart. As a refugee, I would like to thank Maria for being an iconic role model for other people, who were forced to leave their homes but didn't give up in their dreams. You remind me Yusra Mardini from "The Swimmers". Such a hard-working brave soul, who managed to jump even higher despite all conditions to become voice of millions. Good job, girl! Thank you for doing what you do 🤍

The contest system works a little differently. The song could initially have been written to anyone and given to another artist during the submission of applications. Also, the author can submit his song separately or the artist separately.
Often at the Swedish contest, songs are transmitted. You speak with so much confidence though, as if you were there and witnessed it. I don’t understand how people can express something that strongly with no valid basis.

@@willybergqvist2254 even though Loreen is a very respectfull artist, I believe she should give place to other artists, e.g. younger, to try their luck in Eurovision and people to know other artists of the country! Is it true that this may get some sympathy votes? Yes. But, are the song and performance good? Also YES. Not my personal winner (I am team Loreen and I think that’s the best option to get a good result at Eurovision), but this one is quality too and it’s definitely in the top 3 songs of Melodifestivalen this year. Loreen är en utmärkt artist, utan tvekan. Det är något positivt med henne som hon sänder även på avstånd när hon sjunger. Det finns dock delar av låten, som jag inte förstår vad det står, "det är som ett drag av ord", tillsammans med en nasal röst, som inte är så tydlig, för den som lyssnar, tonerna finns där, bra sjungit, men den delen av dialekten är det inte, om du förstår mig. Så att du inte läser det som ett negativt budskap, utan som en konstruktiv kritik av min mest uppriktiga åsikt, "för någon som inte kan så mycket om musik".

About Ukrainians getting hate for everything is because everything is politicised nowadays and giving sympathy votes or voting in general for Ukraine just because of what's happening there is wrong and hypocritical in a song contest where only the song should matter, its vocals, text and melody, not the nationality
Just like the previous winners like konchita wurst who won because of what it is, cause the song and especially the vocals were garbage compared to other contestants; and that woman who didn't even sing smh, the chicken woman smfh, what a degradation that euro vision has become, a joke....
