Me too. Meantime, Betty, and Aftertaste tours. The really great thing is that they’re still at it. Page is the only original member left but he always WAS Helmet, all due respect to the incomparable John Stanier. This lineup is actually the longest running one by quite some time and they fucking kill it live. Page is the star of the show of course. Been back at it for over a decade now and currently touring.
Lucky bastard. I knew them when i was 16 (in 2006), just rediscovering them rn in 2022. I'm french, their is not a chance i could watch them in live. Epic band. Definitively.
I knew a guy in Scotland, a huge guy who lifted. He had a weights room with a top of the range stereo and all Helmets albums to date -literally NOTHING else😂
I thought this Helmet album was weak- never liked it....until I made myself listen to it a few times. It then grew on me, and now I love it. It was just "different" for them.
Absolutely same experience. It just didn’t hit me nearly the same as both Meantime and Betty did out of the gates but as time went on I came to really appreciate and love it. Great fkng album. Insatiable possibly the GOAT Helmet song.
The end of the great and beginning of the good Helmet albums. They got pushed to the wayside by watered down grunge, then pop punk, then ska, then shit like Third Eye Blind and radio friendly nu metal. Like they cared about that lol. On top of that they were burnt out from tours and most of this album shows it
Nah. Dead to the World is a great album and the best thing Paige has done since Aftertaste. And even then Monochrome still has tons of bangers on it too.
I saw them the summer of 94 or 95. They played on top of a three story parking garage in Pontiac, Michigan. Three band's played that summer day. The first act was sausage, Les Claypools spin-off band from Primus. Next up was Helmet, the barricades we're broken down in about three songs and finally the Rollins band. Had a chance to speak with Mr. Hamilton after their most recent tour in honor of the Betty album. I had mentioned the previous parking garage concert and he said he remembered that one. Heck of nice guy, got a picture with him and he was gracious enough to sign and date the poster I bought that night. Only about sixty to seventy people at the show, so after they played the full Betty album they opened it up for requests. Last song of the night was Bad Mood!
This album proves that guitar well played but not overplayed, simply perfect...can make incredible music without all the technical wankery. HELMET sets mood with power and simplicity that is not as easy as it seems. Like Bukowski's writing it is short and to the point seemingly effortless but far from it. All the fat is trimmed off just leaving the power and muscle of the RIFF without stupid noodling.
Helmet is my favourite band of all time. I think "Insatiable" has the most aggressive riff that ever graced my ears. Erm, maybe "Crisis King" as well. Damn, everything!
100%. Crisis King is fantastic for sure. So many great ones on this album that don’t get the acclaim they deserve. Insatiable has been one of my very favorite Helmet songs for years. I never put much thought into my “favorite” song by them. Too many amazing ones to choose from but Insatiable would absolutely be in play. Very possibly #1.
highly rate Helmet this album is Excellent not one bad track on it ..see them in Nottingham when they toured with this album they were awesome live . probably my favourite heavy metal bands of all time .. underated and should of made it big but yeah class I love the early stuff like strap it on , Meantime , Betty.. brilliant band
better than Betty LOL are you serious? come on This album is too long to have such unenjoyable songs, however Betty is an almost perfect mix of post-hardcore /alt metal and hints of jazz / noise rock; Betty is a couple of steps above Aftertaste, (maybe on the same level in terms of sound finish) Do not take me wrong, with this comment I do not mean that Aftertaste is at a mediocre level, in fact this album seems to me the last best of the band regards!
@@dariiofernando Enjoyable? I really dig a lot of the songs on this over Betty. I also like singing Page over screaming Page, which probably helps my opinion. Helmet works better with good melodies imo. Betty is good but I mostly just like Wilma's Rainbow.

Best Helmet album. 16 years old during the 90's.
Early Helmet was a lesson in ferocity, timing and sonic assault. This was dialed the fuck in helmet. A true work of art🤘🔥🤘
There's no way Helmet didn't significantly influence the rock/metal aspects of Nine Inch Nails beyond Pretty Hate Machine....
I had several good trips with this album...what a band!!!Hail Helmet!!
That bass line..
Like I Care?
I bought Betty on a hunch cause I liked the album cover and after listening I was an instant Helmet fan....! years later.., it is nice 2 be back!
The last Legends of Alternative Rock....very nice ✌️

Last of the Great HELMET albums
Size matters wasn’t too bad. Sure it was a little less helmet than helmet but damn there’s some good moments on there
@@austinkash I agree, it had flashes of albums past...glad I saw them live several times in their heyday(93-97)
No Stanier, No Helmet
I do agree, Helmet split up after the tour for Aftertaste. It will never be the same afterwards. Why? Four words: John Stanier Henry Bogdan.
