I can't believe I've never heard this before. I'm always looking for anything new from Diamanda and this is wonderful. Considering that it's a few years old, the only reason I haven't heard it, is because it's from the material she's been touring with. She REALLY needs to put out another live album ... or two.
Ahhhhhh soooo glad I got to see her live at Joe's Pub NYC!!! Also got to got back stage and get her to sign my drawing and my friends t-shirt... Shes amazing live and yes a rare breed in deed....
Many people, especially a lot of guys don't get Diamanda, but I love these lyrics and her voice (in person or in concert) just reverberates with such intensity, I knew a day before I was going to meet her an when I did Wow, was nice to give her a gift I made (spent red shotgun22' cartridge with beautiful red + green glass flower inside, this was early 2003 I think)? But after that many artists did this arrangement, I don't mind but its all us little people who inspire, don't forget without all of us Everything means nothing.. bye for now ::)))
@YMcB1947 oh...she s in TOTAL control....over everything....great musician, one of a kind vocalist. I like her, and I like Etta James' version as well... But Diamanda has so much theatricality and dramaticality in it, that easily wins the fight ;) Remember, when you listen to DIamanda, EVERY Sound is VALID, she does not seperate between right and wrong voice, beautiful and ugly. Everything has a part in the whole picture.
