I drove 2 Mack Superliner’s here in the states in the 80’s and 90’s with the E-9 V-8’s. The first was an 85 Magnum with the T2090 9 speed going into 5:02 full screw rears(no power devider, both rears pushing all the time) on 24.5 low pro’s. Top speed was 64.5 mph. It was fun trying to get in and out of tight gas stations in the snow. The second was a 92 just like the one pictured with the outside air cleaners. This one had the Williams air throttle to eliminate the stretching of the throttle cable due to the air ride cab. This one also had the T2090 but had 4:42 rears going to 24.5 tall rubber. Too speed was 82 at 1900 rpm. Had the air pressure adjusted on the throttle sand had 690 horses on the ground. Pulled the hills in Northeast Pa with ease and got over 8 mpg overall
Wish I still had that 92 today

They used to be quite common in the 70 and early 80 in North America. Their main drawback was the air supply in your air tank was limited. If the truck was parked for an extended time like a weekend even with a small air leak you would not be able to start it. In winter , often you would run out of air before starting the engine. It was more trouble than batteries that is why they went the same way then the dodo bird.

We ran batteries here in the states with 24 volts starting and 12 volts running
If the US epa wasn’t so strong I bet Mack would still be building them

Great looking Mack. Has that bonnet been raised a bit to suit the bumper.

Nice viedo and Mack truck. Like the sound of the engine. Bob Reimer loved Mack, s and drove many of them. He wrote THE B MODEL MACK SONG by THE COUNTRY TIGERS CANADA. Please check and drive safe. Tks much.
