I was in Thailand recently and I stopped at a few jewelry stores hoping to find something amazing. They always claimed their opal was Australian but thanks to RUclips I could tell the difference. Most was Mexican opal.
Oh boy! You have just made my night! My whole day and night! I never tire of watching you work your magic on opals. My far vision has actually improved to where I no longer need glasses in the car. Near, I have to have them to be able to see or read, watch shows on my devices, etc... I like that crackly pattern on the first gem! Have the prices of opal gone up much in the last few years? Seems like I'm more shocked at the prices these days. I love crystal opals the most, color on color play. Esp. if they have pinks in them and the floats of blue. OK that was crazy someone else just asked about prices too! I can't afford to get what I want these days of retirement/disability. But then I am older and have no one to pass it down to. so I just live vicariously through you all!
Was driving from Uluru to Ghan when your show was. What a great bunch of stones. Particularly like the two with red. My wife is wearing the ring and pendant that I got from you here on our trip from Uluru to Melbourne. Australia is a great place to be. Steve Hoover
So it turns out that Tamika, and I have the same smutty sense of humour, and taste in Opals. Good choice in employing her, because I really enjoy the banter, as well as the stone cutting! 😁Cracking set of stones altogether though.
Justin you are an amazing opal cutter , we really enjoy all of the splendid opals that you share with us weekly !! WHOO HOOO FROM CALIFORNIA JOHNNY AND CANDY WHAT !!❤❤
Another parcel of great Gems ! So cool to watch them come to life in skilled hands. I am also an avid fisherman. Love chasing walleyes ! And crappies and bass, ( large and small mouth bass)
I can’t believe how entertained I am by your skill and talent you are an artist I am jealous The rough cuts are the best I love the surprise of what they can become and the gamble wish I had your job keep up the incredible work And you always have a smile happy for you Someday I would be Honored to own one of your masterpieces It’s more than just a beautiful gem your heart is part of everyone of them very specialWhat a great parcel
That blue one about halfway through, though!! Purple blue. 3D looking. Like one of those 8 balls you shake up, and the little answer cube comes up. When the color pops up, it always reminds me of that!
I alway find it funny when you lark about on your videos. I liked the cellar entrances you used to do. When you asked about the flagstone pattern that was in that piece of opal at 37.52+, there was a little dinosaur shape in the pattern top right. Thank you Justin, they all turned out well this time.
I know it’s no an official pattern, but in my heart that second opal is Barrier pattern. As in the the Great Barrier Reef. Or ocean pattern works. Doesn’t it look like the clear water around the reef on a very sunny day. That is what came to mind the first time I saw it. Irregardless, it’s a beautiful stone.
Hey Hello Pat herein Seattle.Thank you so much. For sharing your knowledge with us.Never a dull moment, I truly jove Opajs .IWas told the best ones came from Ethepia . Now I learem rhe the besrofrhe besr Not trueee. I will still what I have and dream. Thankyou so
Beautiful opal you have cut Justin. I purchased a small parcel which had one stone that had a nice color bar. I cut my first opal worth $1,000!! 3.9 carat gem AA+, thanks for all the tips!! Although it was a risk for potch and sand the price was right. Thanks Justin!!
Can't wait for the pattern video. Even though I'm familiar with most literally because of your videos! Priceless knowledge. I remember a childhood friend of mine had a nice piece of pinfire jelly opal, very small probably a 1ct gem, teardrop shaped. Didn't know it until I watched a few of your videos years ago.
I was so excited because I was finally going to be able to watch your livestream, but then my parents needed help shopping by for thanksgiving. Dad and I are fans from Utah
That blue-green one, I think it was the second stone you cut, it could almost be called a flame-pattern the way it seems to stretch out in long 'tongues' of flickering fire.
That was probably one of the best live sessions yet. Every stone is epic. Your so full of fun and joy and have so much enthusiasm. Thank you for showing us. 😊😊😊😊👍👍👍👍
Always late but at least I'm here finally and I have just awoke! I'm snuggling in my warm bed looking foward to the video! We have problems with our radiators and this in a coldspell with snow. We are waiting for help with that and hopefully it will be solved once for all! Now I will watch the video! Greetings and warm hugs to you all at BOD!
Tomorrow, well, today for you is Thanksgiving Day in the US! I'm thankful for you, Justin. I'm thankful for Tameka and everyone who's helped to make your business a success. I'm thankful for this channel, all that it's taught me, and for the spectacular opals we get to see here! What a beautiful gift of God's creative hand. Each one unique, with every single molecule of water, silica, and stone set in motion by His physical laws for us to enjoy!
Sorry I missed the live. But, some beautiful cutters again Justin... My favorite I think would be the first stone (the green turtle shell pattern for a better term). Haha... got a chuckle when you mentioned "rubbing one out"! We all need to rub one out occasionally (gemstones I mean) Tamika seemed to be blush?
@@blackopaldirect Pushing the wheel makes it muuuuch easier on the motor. Starting from a dead stop versus even a small rotation is ENORMOUS as far as wear and tear. The noise is caused by worn bearings, Justin. Seriously. Listen to the beginning. chug chug chug chugchugchugchug...it's the bearing. You need someone in to look at your motors and bearings. This isn't a do it yourself.
The Opal at time marker 45:00 is my favorite ! I believe it's the same Opal at time marker 9:52 ! Thank you for sharing the adventure of beautiful Opals !
Discussing gemstones that lose color when exposed to light....fluorite is one of them. I love fluorite, it comes in so many different colors and a lovely almost watery sheen to the stone. But if you want your stone to keep it's lovely color, it's a good idea to keep it away from bright light.
love to watch .thanks from Israel .my 1st opal was from u yeas ago .an N1 black rughth with littel bit of blue still my fivorit .question what your top 5 opals rughth that suprised u the most . thanks in advance :
Sorry I've gotta set the record straight.... Alaska is the coolest state !!! Quite literally and figuratively 😁
I was in Thailand recently and I stopped at a few jewelry stores hoping to find something amazing. They always claimed their opal was Australian but thanks to RUclips I could tell the difference. Most was Mexican opal.
Are you Sure it was mexican Not ethiopian?
I'd still get a specimen at the right price
@@coolhandluke1503 you probably wont get the right price there
Might have been Ethiopian. Good Mexican opal is spendy, too - just not as expensive as Australian black opal.
They were all beautiful and made so, with the masters touch. Thanks for sharing. 😷⚒
Lol i thought you were gonna say "i love it when an opal comes together" A-teamstyle.
Toronto Canada. Love, love, love your love of opals.

I missed the live because of work, but I love it when you are funny! Don't listen to people that say no!! :)
I was late to the party, sorry. Add Bahamas to your list of viewing countries. Cheers. That beautiful big sand free Black opal is right there.
Just in, a bit late, but watching anyway!! Always fun.
Honestly, looking at that second stone, I'd call it a Waterfall Pattern, because to me that's what it looks like, a waterfall cascading over rocks.
Love this channel
Seriously thinking about learning to cut opals
USA
