I've watched the original video countless times, and I would love to see this concept turn into a series. I can't get enough of salvaging wood from the trash myself, and seeing the creative projects others make with reclaimed materials never gets old.
That first wood hunt was 8 years ago?!! Wow. I guess I have been watching a long time. Your use of salvaged materials is what sucked me into your channel. I don't do woodworking at all, but I love the inventiveness and creativity of your work. The step-stool turned out very nice and looks much sturdier than a store-bought one.
Yes, Keith, loved it. Do more. I think you are the genuine Wood Whisperer…by that I mean: taking wood from the wild, taming it and making it into something beautiful. Thank you. ❤
Your videos showing you making things out of salvaged wood were what got me into your channel, it was your ingenuity of turning someone else's rubbish into a nice project piece that made them interesting, i'd be happy to see more of the same.
The design of that stool is ACE!!!! I curb-pick wood every chance I get and have made many projects for next to nothing! Apt complexes have provide lots of opportunity.
I enjoy these junk hunt videos very much. I have never done it anything like it myself but recently i picked up an entire large trailer and truckload of walnut, maple, cherry, and oak at an estate sale. Several thousand dollars worth of wood acquired for just 181 dollars and two hours of labor to load it.
Great video. This is something I'd love to do in my spare time when I retire. We unfortunately live is a wasteful society, I hope this video inspires others!
It always amazes me what people throw away. You can really find treasures if you know where to look, and if you look often enough. Recently I fished a fully working PC monitor out of a skip, a fairly nice model even. And tomorrow I'm going to remodel my garden shed, and the hardwood double glazed window that's going in was a dumpster find as well. It pains me a bit to see how much perfect good stuff is thrown away, but it is nice to get free stuff!
I completed an Operating Theatre course in Norwich back in 1983. Your ramble wood hunt with views of the city brought back many happy memories. If I ever return to England, Norwich is where I would settle. Please feel free to make as many rambling wood hunts as you like. I personally hunt for pallets for my projects. Mostly, the soft wood variates as some of the hard wood ones are as tough as concrete!. Currently making a chair side table out of Hasqvana pallet wood. Keep up the good work on the videos; they are very enjoyable, educational, and inspiring. Sarah from Tasmania
Really enjoyed the video. The stool was creative idea and seeing material go from intended use to something as practical but well designed and stylish was great to see.
Would ABSOLUTELY watch another junk (and cat!) hunt! I laughed especially hard at the, uh... "abstract art" behind you around 5:20 and your mention of "recreational activities" around 6:50. You've really grown into showing a great sense of humor in your videos! Always a great watch.
Nearly all of my projects involve some trash picked material. It's also very fun to see someone else turn discarded materials into useful things. Hope you can make more of these videos
I loved this video. I think that your use of salvaged material is what first drew me to your channel. Your creativity and warm personality are what keeps me watching. Please, do more salvaged wood videos. Thanks for this video.
I try and build my own stuff from scrap material too, had to dig deep to make my firewood storage. Luckily a friend had a few long pieces I could use, only bought secondhand rooftiles. More junk runs please, that is how most of us got into your channel 👍
Absolutely loved this. I watch all of your normal videos but this is another level. The JUNK HUNT is such a great idea and would make a fantastic additional series. I must admit I can't walk past a skip without taking a little look - but like you I would never take anything without asking permission first.
🤯I can’t believe you made that from scraps? Wow, you seem very good at your craft… what an amazing gift God has given you! Man, I’d love to see more videos like this! Well, I actually just found your channel today… but watching people create beautiful things from trash, is quite remarkable and how rewarding for you!👊🏼🥇💪🏼🏆👏🏼🎉
Looks like a decent little project. My father in law made a stepstool for his carpentry college course some 50 years ago and has been passed onto us. It is still a solid, useful piece that gets used every week.
Junk Hunt, so cool! I do the same around my house Keith, lovely way to relax after work and get some exercise. The things I have pulled out of skips...
I really enjoyed this video and it has given me an idea. I love walking and rather than just walking aimlessly, I can drive to various places and do a junk hunt while I’m walking. Two birds with one stone 👍🏼Thank you.
This was awesome, junk hunt should become a thing we all do, more junk hunts please especially with a project too, love the stool will be building one soon for use in my garage,
Love everything about this - seeking out discarded materials, examining questionable construction, crafting professional looking items from scrap, and can never have too much cat! Most of my salvage comes from refurbishment and construction projects at work. No fancy hardwoods, mostly pine but good sizes, some low grade oak, and lots of plywood in all thicknesses. Also pick up useful metal, especially steel. Absolutely agree about supposedly "rough" neighbourhoods, I never personally encounter drama in those areas, which are usually just lower income bracket so locals lack the influence to make it look appealing.
Would love to see this more regularly, so I’m glad the comments seem to agree and that the video is performing well. It’s just the sort of thing that got me into your channel all those years ago!
I struggle to see the potential of salvaged wood - you demonstrate a variety of projects with ease! So yes, another vote to make this a series. Really enjoy your videos on a Saturday morning with a coffee ☕😊 thanks!
Thanks Keith, nice to see you revisiting your roots, I share your mixed emotions about what you found, it could be good news and you've influenced people to repurpose and recycle items and it could. be that councils are doing more, but not east to evaluate. The project came out well and the cost being some strolling around in the sun is appealing, but this is a tough thing to make a business out of unless you have a successful RUclips channel ! I love this sort of content, and really appreciate how candid you are about what you find ! Spent a lot of time in Norwich, two of my children went to university there, it's a much underrated city with a really interesting history !
Yes please! I remember the first junk Hunt video. Remember me asking you in a q and a video if you still did Hunt for wood? So a big yes please from me!
One of the greatest joys in life is getting good materials for free (especially with timber prices the way they are). I love a good skip dip. You get some amazing finds and some great materials to work with.
Absolutely loved this video! Both because it helps inspires me to keep an eye out for the treasure I can find when I go to town; and also, because I get to see a town I've never seen before, in a place I'll likely never get a chance to be. Thanks for the inspiration!
I love junk hunts as you put it. I do a lot of woodturning and have never paid for wood. Old hardwood doors to sgmented bowls and a visit to a local tree sugeons yard for as many logs as I can take away. Love to see more of this type of video.
Really enjoyed this Keith and a project as well. I would love to see this theme used more often, like the old days. My wife and I have been with you since the start.
Really enjoyed that Keith, it's amazing what you can make from discarded wood and metal that people consider "junk" and will last many lifetimes, unlike the Ikea rubbish that everyone seems to love. I get though that many people don't like the "dark" or "wood" look so go for the cardboard coated wood so would be interested in seeing what you could make from salvaged "white" materials too like melamine chipboard at a push or real wood that is "whitened" using stain and or just whitewash... I know that it's not your style for your own home but these would probably sell...
Been doing it for decades. The last two houses owned I refurbished the kitchen & bathroom entirely with rescued carcasses, fittings and the like from skips. We live in a wasteful society but it doesn’t mean you have to be wasteful yourself. Simple DIY, a bit of care and imagination and you’ll save thousands. Currently creating a unique wooden floor in the lounge from a mosaic of rescued hardwood off cuts. Save money, recycle.
this is such an inspirational video. Sooo good to see what can be made from junk! And makes you value materials for the potential they hold... keep going!
From one junk junkie to another, well done! I must film my local German recycling centre which never fails to bring up cool stuff- I've had laptops, tools, pots and wooden furniture from mine! I also hunt for pallets. I burned only pallet wood in my fire this last winter.
Love this type of thing Keith, its right up my alley 😉 I really enjoyed it when Mathiaus Wandell used to do it. Are you happy with the dowel maker ? I see it's different than the one Bisch Basch Bosch got.
Yes please! I love a junk hunt myself. Thoroughly enjoyed this. Nice result!!
Glad to hear it! ♥️
I liked the junk hunt, would ABSOLUTELY watch another one. I liked how you made a project with the day's finds, great use of materials!
I would love to see this as a series of some sort. What I can build using others' junk.
Yes, please make this a monthly series. I would love to see you walk around in fog, rain, snow and of course beautiful sunny weather! :)
Yess! I love these kinds of maker videos on YT. There is too much crap and people throw away too much useful stuff and materials that can be re-used.
I've watched the original video countless times, and I would love to see this concept turn into a series. I can't get enough of salvaging wood from the trash myself, and seeing the creative projects others make with reclaimed materials never gets old.
I'm 64 years old and I love a good trash find !
Love the non-scripted elements of this video, nice work!
This is what brought me to your channel years ago Keith. I’d definitely watch more of these. Nice job on the stool, hope the video does well.
That first wood hunt was 8 years ago?!! Wow. I guess I have been watching a long time. Your use of salvaged materials is what sucked me into your channel. Junk hunt is sòoooo much better than tv program with a massive budget.
Great work great content keep up the good work.....😊
Great video. This is something I'd love to do in my spare time when I retire. We unfortunately live is a wasteful society, I hope this video inspires others!
Brilliant "Junk Hunt", definitely more please.

I love how honest you were about odies oil. That’s a lot of money to spend on wood finish. Couldn’t agree more. Great project by the way
Brilliant work! And I love how you were honest about the finishing oil being too expensive lol
I love this idea! A junk hunt followed by making something out of the stuff you find. Great idea!
Really enjoyed the video. The stool was creative idea and seeing material go from intended use to something as practical but well designed and stylish was great to see.
Junk hunt would make a split in the variety of content you post, plus it all flows in to your style of woodworking skills. Love the idea💙
You’re going to need a Junk Hunt jingle, like Pask Makes “scrap wood challenge…it’s scrap, it’s crap, and some of its firewood!”
Junk Hunt idea is gold. Would watch again if you choose to do another episode like that.
Enjoyed the video. Thanks for sharing.
I appreciate seeing the "behind the scenes" of sourcing and preparing reclaim wood.
Thanks Keith for such a pleasant video to watch whilst having breakfast this Sunday morning 👍
5:24 I like that abstract painting of Norwich Cathedral.
I get most of my material in the alleyways here in Chicago. Amazing what you find. Especially when a lot of remodeling is going on around you.
Nearly all of my projects involve some trash picked material. It's also very fun to see someone else turn discarded materials into useful things. Hope you can make more of these videos
Junk Hunt for the win, make more please!
Really enjoyed this one Keith. Please do more like this. Great fun to see how you find materials and trying to work out what you make from them!

More junk runs please, that is how most of us got into your channel 👍
I love walking through alleys searching for treasures, glad Im not the only one!
Absolutely loved this. I watch all of your normal videos but this is another level. The JUNK HUNT is such a great idea and would make a fantastic additional series. I must admit I can't walk past a skip without taking a little look - but like you I would never take anything without asking permission first.
Brilliant video especially finalising it with a salvage build . It gets other people thinking what they could make .
Great video Keith! It's great to see you turning junk into something useful.
Thank you!
🤯I can’t believe you made that from scraps? Wow, you seem very good at your craft… what an amazing gift God has given you! Man, I’d love to see more videos like this! Well, I actually just found your channel today… but watching people create beautiful things from trash, is quite remarkable and how rewarding for you!👊🏼🥇💪🏼🏆👏🏼🎉
Thank you! 😊
Loved this video, hope you make it into a regular feature on your channel. The stool is an elegant piece of woodworking, as a bonus!
Cute stool! And you're saving good, usable material from a landfill.
This is the classic RagnBoneBrown I started following all them years ago. More junk hunts please Keith 👍🏼
I liked Junk Hunt, was a nice change. Once every other month or so would be good.
I liked the format of this video! It was an awesome surprise to see a project in the end. Which turned out amazing. Great work and thank you.
Awesome, thank you!
Loving the junk hunt videos, and loving that you're another Norfolk man too!
I really enjoyed this video and it has given me an idea. I love walking and rather than just walking aimlessly, I can drive to various places and do a junk hunt while I’m walking. Two birds with one stone 👍🏼Thank you.
Go for it!
This was awesome, junk hunt should become a thing we all do, more junk hunts please especially with a project too, love the stool will be building one soon for use in my garage,
That would be great!! Would love to see some more on RUclips
I liked the junk hunt, great use of materials,,,,definitely more please.
Great concept for an on/off series Keith - I'd certainly watch them. Cheers.
Loved this, and wow i'm amazed at how nice the stool became all because of those cutouts, you've become an amazing designer.
Wow thanks!
Love everything about this - seeking out discarded materials, examining questionable construction, crafting professional looking items from scrap, and can never have too much cat! Loved this one, please do more Junk Hunting.
I was only half listening when you said "Junk Hunt"... Almost spat my coffee out 🤣🤣🤣🤣
I really enjoyed junk hunt!! Please make more!! The broken pot could be made into a little fairy garden if you need something else to do for it!!:D
Loved the video, it’s great to see the whole process from collecting to a small finished product.
I love the junk hunt, Keith, and your ingenuity in making something with it. And the street cat, can't beat random friendly cats!
Would love to see this more regularly, so I’m glad the comments seem to agree and that the video is performing well. It’s just the sort of thing that got me into your channel all those years ago!
I have picked up some terrific sheet material from a near neighbors skip where they are renovating their house. Great to reduce the amount of waste!
I struggle to see the potential of salvaged wood - you demonstrate a variety of projects with ease! So yes, another vote to make this a series. Really enjoy your videos on a Saturday morning with a coffee ☕😊 thanks!
Really beautiful work, Keith! 😃
And absolutely! Make more like this one!
Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
Thanks, you too!
Thanks Keith, nice to see you revisiting your roots, I share your mixed emotions about what you found, it could be good news and you've influenced people to repurpose and recycle items and it could. be that councils are doing more, but not east to evaluate. Spent a lot of time in Norwich, two of my children went to university there, it's a much underrated city with a really interesting history !
Can't believe the lovely bits of wood people put in skips. New bits just chucked
Superb idea, I love watching people turning someone's trash into nice things again! ❤
Love the idea of a junk hunt project series!
Yes please! I remember the first junk Hunt video. Remember me asking you in a q and a video if you still did Hunt for wood? So a big yes please from me!
More of these please, wood is so expensive now so it's good to see what can be made from someone else's junk for minimal cost! 😊
So recognisable. Since I moved out of Amsterdam to a small village in the southwest of The Netherlands, I do miss my garbage finds.
One of the greatest joys in life is getting good materials for free (especially with timber prices the way they are). I love a good skip dip. You get some amazing finds and some great materials to work with.
A series of this (Junk hunt with beautiful item at end) would be amazing
That was really fun to watch. Yes, would like to see more of that. That step stool is really nice. Might need to try that myself.
That's a beautiful step stool! First time watching your videos.
I really enjoy this video concept! And the stool you made is quite nice! I'll definitely watch as many of these as you care to do.
Loved your scrap hunt! More PLEASE! Good hunting
Loved this, enjoyed the junk hunt more than i should have! And the recycled woodwork element you used to do so much of - make more!
Absolutely loved this video! Both because it helps inspires me to keep an eye out for the treasure I can find when I go to town; and also, because I get to see a town I've never seen before, in a place I'll likely never get a chance to be. Thanks for the inspiration!
Definitely worth doing more of these.
Practical, and it looks really great. Love to see more junk hunts!
Absolutely love this type of stuff - more please!! 😁😁
Great video. Loved the build part and the foraging part. More please!
I remember watching that original video.... Scary that it's 8 years ago now!
Would be great to see more Junk Hunt projects
Yes to the junk hunt! More please!
Great make from the scrap you found. The original video was the reason I found out about you. Keep making them
Really enjoyed that Keith, it's amazing what you can make from discarded wood and metal that people consider "junk" and will last many lifetimes, unlike the Ikea rubbish that everyone seems to love.
Fantastic! Right up my street, not literally of course. Really enjoyed the video 📹 😀
Hey, yes, would love to see more lumber hunt videos! Nice build!
Great video Keith, and yes is the answer to your question more Junk Hunt videos if possible please. Take Care.
Barry (the Wirral)
Thanks Barry
Absolutely brillant video Keith, i would like to see more of the junk hunts.
Really missed this style of video. Great you went back to your old stomping ground
this is such an inspirational video. Sooo good to see what can be made from junk! And makes you value materials for the potential they hold... keep going!
Love this kind of video. Thank you
From one junk junkie to another, well done! I must film my local German recycling centre which never fails to bring up cool stuff- I've had laptops, tools, pots and wooden furniture from mine! I also hunt for pallets. I burned only pallet wood in my fire this last winter.
I would definitely watch another one of these. Especially if you include bonus cats!
Love this type of thing Keith, its right up my alley 😉 I really enjoyed it when Mathiaus Wandell used to do it. Being from our neck of the woods i re kon you could make it more relevant to uk viewers. Also, break that pot down to small pieces and it makes great filler and drainage fir your plant pots.
