    And my price is fair
This stuff'll get the stain out

This is a rarity because it is bassist Stu Cook singing lead vocal and he does make a decent effort. This is after Tom Fogerty, Stu Cook and Doug "Cosmo" Clifford wanted more of their songs included in CCR albums. Of course, we are used to John Fogerty singing lead on all their big hits but the occasional song from the others like Stu here would have been a pleasant novelty.

A decent barroom brawl tune, but neither the song nor Stu's vocals quite match Doug's and John's more coherent spread on this album.

By the time this album came out JF would only play lead guitar on his own songs. The other's felt they wanted to contribute their music to "CCR" though obviously it lacked John Fogerty's "CCR" sound. Some bad decisions, bad management (well great actually to rob the band of all their money, I guess that is what record companies like to do) and three of the four members thinking they had what John Fogerty had - which they of course didn't. JF arrogant? Why wouldn't he be? He created their sound, made a bunch of Number 1 and 2 hits - the Beatles keeping them from being #1. He was a genius and the other guys thought he was an asshole. Sad.

John an asshole?? Why would anyone ever say that? John is the bestest muso in the whole wide world of his own worlds and all others. John never did anything wrong to anyone, not even himself... John is a true victim of something, just ask him. Fair enough he will tell you, etc etc. Go Johnny, don't we know?

Absolutely did. John played all guitar on Marti Gras, as Tom moved on and didn't appear on this album at all.

+Timothy Little As I know, John didn't play all the guitars on this album. Stu made some sessions of rhythm guitar in some music, I don't know in specific.

Not as bad as I thought, It needs more melody, better hook, better idea. I bet if someone worked with them on this song it could have been developed into a better song. IT's better than I thought after reading John's book, Fortunate Son.

    it sounds too country
its lacking that swamp-rock american rock-n-roll with classic rock vibe
The way it is recorded sounds very sterile too, sounds like they were sitting in a room trying to play every note right
Rather than sharing a moment and letting the vibe carry the song like the earlier albums, but some may like it

This is probably my favorite track off of the entire album. The whole song's construction is perfect. Stu Cook (the drummer) might not have been a big threat to Mozart, but he was obviously around the "scene" long enough to develop the skills necessary to write this tune. This is possibly the most underrated song in C.C.R.'s catalog, as well as one of the best and most well-rounded ones they ever did. It will always rank among my favorites of theirs with the likes of 'Green River'.
