I have both the low and the mid, so clearly I'm a fan. I use them for light hiking with just a day pack, and the mids are for snow. They wear very well, and have great grip. I got the mids in the waterproof version and my feet stay warm and dry in snow, and my minispikes stay put. There's practically no humidity where I live so I got the low in the regular version, not waterproof, and they breathe really well.
If I'm going to be carrying a heavy pack, I have Asolo Neutrons or Fugitives. I've tired Vasque and La Sportiva, but they seem to run narrow, especially Vasque. Asolo offers wide sizes in their boots which are what I buy. If you have an E or EE foot, you need a shoe that fits and there are certain brands that probably make a great boot, but they just don't work for me.

I own them also and I also like my Vasque shoes both are very comfortable and no breaking period...my biggest point! Extremely comfy, and they do perform well.

I have had seven pairs of Oboz, shoes and boots. It is all about their awesome footbeds. Buy Oboz you save $60 for not having to buy footbeds. The Sawtooths are right at the top of the heap for Oboz produce line.

It's true. Keen's footbeds are for flat-footed people it seems.

I'd love a video on insoles and arch support for hiking shoes and how to figure that out.

I have a pair of original sawtooth lows, waterproof variety that I have hiked more than 700 miles in. Best hiking shoes I ever had and still got some miles left in them.

I am testing these right now against four other low hikers and they are performing extremely well. Plus, they are from Bozeman, MT where everything is tough and outdoorsy. The Sawtooth mountains are etched in the outsole between the lugs, which I think is a nice touch from Oboz.

It is a very nice touch, forgot to mention that. I am loving them so far!

I got 3 pairs of trail running shoes I used last year and used boots thru the winter. Now that I'm using the trail running shoes again my feet hurt. Seems hiking shoes give more support and are preferred. I'll backpack in my oboz tamarack going forward.

I got a pair of keen voyeguer mids and I think the soles are defective as I'm glueing them almost every damn time I use them.

How do these fit compared to say, your standard nike running shoe? Would you stay with your normal nike shoe size? Or go down in size like other hiking/hunting boots? Thanks.

These shoes have a 15mm heel drop, which is a killer on the downhill, since there's little to no cushion on the heel. Also, they don't have much ventilation, so if your feet sweat they will stay wet and you will develop blisters over the miles. I had to carry two extra pairs of socks so I could change them out. I gave up after 110 miles. Yes, they are durable---it took about 80 miles to break them in---and the sole has good grip, but that heel strike was a deal breaker.
