You briefly asked what a beach plum is during the LaCroix segment, so as a plant nerd I'll gush for a bit here. Beach plums are a wild plum native to the east coast that grow either as small trees or large, spreading shrubs. They're very salt tolerant and can occasionally be seen growing out of sand dunes in New England. Their fruits are small and don't have nearly as much flesh as domestic plums, the flavor is deliciously tart and makes killer preserves. There have been attempts to breed them for increased fruit yield, but so far there hasn't been much luck because they're alternate bearers that make a billion fruits some years and zero fruits other years. Despite being most at home on the east coast they're quite adaptable and can be grown in gardens and orchards throughout most of the temperate United States. Ramble over!
I live in New England and there’s a small restaurant chain called Beach Plum. I always assumed they just liked plums! I can wait to share this next time I pass one
My Grandma has been making beach plum jelly for years and it's amazing.
So so glad you seem to have decided to keep "opinions are like casserole" on youtube. I dont listen to enough podcasts to leave RUclips to finish listening, but I do want to hear it.
“No seeds, no sticks, no stems! Some of that powdery powdery. Ooweee put it in your cakes” 😂
Entenmann's BAKES their donuts... BUT... they don't call them "cake donuts" they call them "donut cakes." Donut in this case is a modifier for cake. So, in fact, by their own admission Entenmann's makes cakes that are donut-shaped, not actual donuts proper.
I just googled this and I saw a video from 2017 of how entenmann's makes their donuts and they showed them being fried, but they do make "donut cakes" that are advertised as baked instead of fried. But they are different flavors than the normal donuts so it is a different item.
@@TecPhoenixz its fried, baking takes too long
I grew up in Battle Creek in the 80's. Here are a few fun facts you may enjoy. On Halloween, people who worked for the cereal companies gave out mini boxes of cereal. Some mornings, you would wake up to the smell of Froot Loops or Corn Flakes. 7th Day Adventist had great health food stores, better bulk food, and supplement selection than Whole Foods. Every kid went on a field trip to Kellogg's to see how cereal was made.
I'd just like to openly appreciate your proper spelling of Froot Loops. Thank you for showing them the respect they so greatly deserve.
The salami marshmallows might be similar to other sweet meats: honey glazed ham, orange chicken, etc.
I might give that a shot!
I need an episode on different types of beer battered foods.
When GMM starts selling beer-battered whatever, you'll see LOTS of videos about it, rest assured. That's EXACTLY why you're seeing this cereal video right now - and cereal videos on the other GMM channels - to increase sales.
In elementary school my friend put me onto the Salami Pickle , a Pickle Spear with Salami wrapped around it... much different than a marshmallow. But still worth a try trust me lol
As a Quaker i can attest that we no longer exist. I, like other Quakers, am part of a collective hallucination.
A lot of doughnut shops and food service places in LA are actually fronts for money laundering or other illegal activities… you’ll know them because they almost never open or serve customers…
There was a sweets shop near my old apartment that was WONDERFUL but was only open a few hours a week. Weird, huh? Apparently, it was a front for the Russian mob that run a number of businesses in the area! But you didn't hear that from me...
Like taking candy from am a baby.@@thestraydog
$10 cereal is definitely cult vibes
Magic Spoon is $9.99 @ my store. Yes cult vibes like the $20 smoothie and anything Starbucks.
It costs more for companies that aren't Kelloggs or General Mills to make cereal.
@@KittyKraftStudio hot take: if you want protein cereal, just put half a scoop of protein powder in with the milk. like 15g extra right there. i'm not paying 10 bucks for 5 servings of cereal
I worked as a baker for 3 years making cake donuts and yes, all cake donuts are fried. The difference between cake and yeast donuts is if you fry batter or dough.
Josh you NEED to be interviewed on hot ones with sean evans and then bring him to the mythical kitchen for last meal!!!!!!!
Cake donuts refer to the batter, 100% with the donut lover (as someone who has worked in the business) the oven is being used for breakfast sandwiches like Josh said
I'd love to hear Josh talk tuberculosis with John Green.
as an asparagus pisser I have to inform josh that you can smell the asparapiss BEFORE it even comes out sometimes, like the fumes travel up the urethra first. You can't avoid it.
Josh is 100% correct about the pressure to write. I majored in lit and found I had a strong passion for journalism and research, but the way the field is set up is detrimental. My field of work is something entirely different, but I can still admire a well-sourced and -researched publication.
That was the best intro of any video ever 🤣
Advocate is the term in Scotland still as well. And funnily enough, when you are a junior training to be an advocate you are called a devil. Some claim the "devil's advocate" was a reference to the senior lawyer purposely taking an opposing view to force the training lawyer to prove their argument and develop their skills
Wait! A new surname! CONGRATULATIONS NICOOOOOLE!
She’s been married a good while is this congratulations on the handle change?
She’s had that last name name for a while. Where have you been?
What are you talking about? Nothings changed?? I literally waited till the end of the episode in case I missed something but nope, all the same

As a Czech person, thank you very much 😄
Nice job josh
It seems that everywhere else got the expensive meats and their eggs are still expensive but I got expensive cereal. People complaining about $10 cereal when I was just at Walmart and paid $7.23 for a box of cocoa pebbles. I imagine if their cereal did take off well enough to mass produce then they'd lower the price but companies charge out the butt for small batch orders. I can't imagine more than 10k of the overall 10-or-so million unique subscribers in the GMUniverse would be buying the cereal.
I zoned out for five minutes and suddenly josh is explaining reasons why guys may have a pee bottle in their bedrooms
The Sherman Oaks Whole Foods totally does look like a house! Ha, I hadn't ever thought of that, but it's true. I haven't lived there in a decade but remember going there fondly!
Scotland still calls its lawyers advocates. In England you can be a solicitor advocate which is a solicitor with right of audience to present cases directly in court
Anyone looking for collagen, save your money, go to your local asian market or butcher and get a pound of chicken feet for under $5 and follow any stock recipe. The carcass of a rotisserie chicken, or some wings balance out the chicken flavor, then just use whatever aromatics your recipe call for. Add ginger for extra gut health. It should thicken up in the fridge and it will yield way more servings than a smoothie. Most professional ramen recipes use feet because the collagen thickens the soup.
Nicole's face at the beginning😂
I think the answer you're looking for is Alkaline Water and Kombucha.
That price though...
La Croix uses the essential oils as it's "essence".
Donuts are not always deep fried. I specify deep fried because often you have to well coat a donut pan with oil so you get an oven fry if yhou will when you bake them off. Most restaurants/bakeries fry their donuts because it's faster. A cake donut will take like 3 minutes or so to fry, vs like 9 minutes or so to bake. SO your output will be much better.
I work at krispy kreme! Cake donuts are fried! they extrude the cake batter into the fryer.
In Quaker country. They exist. Just pretty under the radar, no horse carts or anything that would make you aware, just closed knit and value privacy/blending in/doing good works anonymously. Quakers also do a lot of charity work around here on the hush, and they are very anti-attention with their good works and i reapect that a lot. Nothing is perfect and experience varies but that has been mine.
Awesome job Josh with the podcast.
Y'all should have Mike catherwood or Dr. Drew pinsky on for an interview.
I for one would love to see Josh and Nicole on Dr. Drew After Dark!
Hellmann's mayo is still on the east coast and Best Foods on the west. It states it on the labels.
You cant make a donut without a fryer, point at the pan-flattened side of the donut :P
Did anyone else notice that Josh wears almost exclusively Rayban Eyewear?
Vit D up north left the chat lol! Anyone who gets 15+ hours of darkness a day during the winter months, you need some Vit D!
cute intro!
Doritos and marshmallows......you are not alone my friend. Marshmallows are my "stranded on an island" food. Doritos in my PB and J too.
Colorado, it is the altitude, it is the same reason people hate airplane food.
As someone who recently developed a severe gluten intolerance, I gotta say, I do love that cereal has so many gluten-free offerings.
Mayonesa de limon is indeed the best mayo for esquites/elote
13:00 this is literally the idiocracy scene talking about what are electrolyte!
This made me want corn flakes.
Entenmann's donuts are fried - there is a video in the factory where they are fried and flipped half way. Regardless on that, donuts are delicious, Mom and Dad stop fighting lol😢
Send me a box, PB preferably. I will tell all my law nerds if its good.
I've now realized that your wooden table is actually a plastic table that has been vinyl-wrapped.
Nothing's gonna stop me from frosting my own flakes.
Or buttering my own muffin
I'm so glad that mine and all the other hotdoggers complained so much that you brought back the best part of the show! Also, 1 entemann's are coffee CAKES, NOT DONUTS. 2 ACTUAL DONUTS ARE FRIED, usually in pork lard or lard. As a donut maker, I can tell you that both are fried, and the ovens are for things that use yeasted doughs like COFFEE CAKES. 😂😂 The more you know guys, the more you know.
1000%
@@talesfromaprofessionalnerd Trevor would've known that probably.
Josh needs to contact Randy Santel and invent a food challenge and see if Randy can win it.
They are called "Mongo's" not marshmallows! Ha ha
Two professional chefs who make careers making food exciting to other people, proclaiming that they don't like food anymore.
The first time I ever ate asparagus was to see if I was in the pee smelly camp.... I sure am.
Ew Soilent, I must be really old, no one remembers the movie Soilent Green?
It's actually named after the movie! It's also quite tasty, and made with fewer people...
13:21 Honey trap.
Quakers didn't actually have anything to do with Quaker oats. A Quaker was just chosen because it represented wholesomeness or something.
Also fun fact Richard Nixon was a Quaker
As someone with gastroparesis and low blood sugar, im pro carb
Didn't they say a while back that they weren't going to do Opinion Casserole on RUclips anymore and that it was just going to be on Spotify and other audio places? What changed? Also, I'm NEVER a cake donut person.
Reality is so weird that go figure cereal is also weird😂
im so confused about joshes pee bottle friends. i either don't have a large enough friend group to tap into this demographic or josh has something that attracts pee bottle people
I find it troublesome that Josh says things with such authoritative sass that I automatically believe them.
19:05 no. The ONLY old school, first Gen Whole Foods are in texas. Duh. Whole Foods did not go national until the early 1990’s, but we had been shopping there for years. I saw the Mill Valley store being built, and was blown away, that they had made it to California.
It’s wild that one of the biggest causes of discourse in this community is Nicole’s refusal to accept that cake donuts are indeed fried. Love you Nicole, but even Entenmann’s calls their donuts “donut cakes” since they’re baked.
Mind control: MK ULTRA ENTERS THE CHAT

I'm a veggie biohacker that's a lifter and I care about my gut health 😎
California is one weird place... - from Montreal
The enzymes and probiotics in yogurt help to keep a lady's femininity healthy, and for me, I'm lactose intolerant, it helps me digest dairy.
Daddy Chad Chef Josh can you please get Steve O for Last Meals
huh, i don't get red pee from eating beetroot, red poops yes, but no red pee
regarding Josh at 18:00 --- the thing is, soil depletion has caused a lack of nutrient density. broccoli 50 years ago war healthier than it is now.
i'm in the gut health AND protein cults girls
News line. Who is the Best home chef? Quinn is the worst... Hay I made the list of best home chefs, let's goooo
I like the idea of a 60 year old Josh joining a cult😂
Get out of my dreams Josh 😅
Is calling a house-share/flatmate a room-mate an american thing? That definitely sounds like they're sharing a room, which has always seemed really odd. Maybe it's something like the weird "I could care less" instead of "I couldn't care less"?
“I could care less” is just a common thing people say wrong. But yes, roommate is an American thing. I wonder if it comes from college/uni dorms, which is where people usually first have roommates, actually sharing rooms. Americans also don’t call them flats, so apartment-mate does not roll of the tongue in the same way.
No.
Gut health is real!
doTerra Mormons is what you're looking for
Bleh! Grape nuts! Bleh!
Mm, grape nuts with half and half, yum.
It’s amazing that vegetarianism started as religious people and now half the nut jobs require meat for everything 😂
Lol, Josh's kid gonna be the first non-binary wide reciever in the NFL
The Food Wars anime don't seem so weird now.
0:03 in thats not true. It wasn't grape nuts it was Corn flakes by kelloggs that was meant to stop men from spanking the monkey.
Just sayian this video got a like when Josh just flat out said he lied his way through. Josh, leave philippe alone. You did the same thing.
