Played this a lot during the beta and got most of the unlocks available then. Trust me when i say if you get a red room after a boss for doing it with no damage on health (shield damage doesnt matter) always take a red room item, they will make or break your builds. Some of my best hard mode runs were solely because of the epic relics i got.
One spell I've had success at making chaotic runs with, is "Mana Absorption". When this spell hits an enemy, it returns the Mana used to cast it back to you. From there, you can crank up the fire rate, damage, status effects and on-hit effects (Regardless of how they impact the Mana cost to fire). Then you can prepare another wand with a "Resonance Rune", which causes it to cast with a random chance when another wand fires (With a chance to cast for free). It doesn't matter how big or costly the spell on this wand is, your Mana absorption wand is firing so many spells that resonance will fire this one frequently as well. Later on, you also unlock new tools to synergise with this, and other ways to cast spells incredibly frequently without spending Mana.
Seeing so many misplays makes me sad. Leaving things all over the ground, expansion stone in inventory instead of on wand, not taking epic upgrades after boss...
Ye volley is just for letting you simultaneously cast multiple spells Your mistaking it for multi shot Which basically doubles your spell instead of shooting 1 Your shooting 2 of the same spell, in an instance at cost of bit more mana cost
make sure to destroy all the plants in the stores so you can get free coins and spells are affected by the order they are in your wand. you put the summon before the parasite upgrade.

you can get those with enough meta progression without the devil deal rooms
