Training horses is not easy. God bless all you do and thank you.
Beautiful colts
Absolutely amazing how they went from shaking and cowering to actually looking like they were enjoying the attention and affection. You are so caring!
I agree---very encouraging, and makes me happy too.
Your chute is a very kind way to gentLe wild horses. It works like a charm
I totally agree with you and Allan. ❤
Vicky did a great job with that video of the pony Express and we all enjoyed it.
❤ Please like and Share ❤We want to continue to watch this Beautiful Family Grow ❤
Broke to ride is a common term and doesn’t mean the horse was trained roughly. It’s just an old time term that is still used today. 👍☺️
Mr Allan, love to hear you talk, explain things about the horses and their care. Enjoy watching your channel, coming along with you, your family. Especially love your little horse chute. To me, its a lot easier on the horses and your able to get many steps accomplished towards the care of these horses, speeds up the process of gentling them, getting them ready for forever homes! Love that you save and rehome them! You and Ms Vicki are wonderful! ❤️
Please don’t be rude, these folks do a lot kindness goes along way 😇🙏🏻 God bless us all ❤
Yeah, here in Colorado we say breaking or a broke horse or any other animal you are training. Good job Alan with what you have done so far.
Love the video! The young horses didn't give you any trouble as you were able to get them dewormed and haltered. They sure enjoyed being scratched and petted. Great job Alan! Hi Vicky., hope you are feeling much better today!
I really like the chute
Nice work, Alan. The 2 babies are so adorable. Just in the amount of time you handled them in the chute they seemed to be cslming down. Im sure you will find the right home for them. Their hooves are in rough shape.
Thank you Vicky! ❤
What great weather for working with the horses - I thought for a second that the pretty chestnut mare would figure out a way to escape - think she’s a mischievous one.😊 You horse whispered the babies!😁 Wow, they gentled sooo fast. :-)
"I can't sit for two weeks with a carrot." LOL!! oh my gosh, Alan---I literally did just laugh out loud when you said that! So funny----and please, I just wish your other Viewers would do a bit of a reality check sometimes. Sure, if you've got one horse and lots of free time to devote to your ONE horse, that would be a way to do it. I say "Well Done" for all you are able to do.
Well said! If you don’t ask a youngster of any breed hard things, they never learn hard things. And you ask fairly.
How about Shortbread and Biscuit.
Haha I like that
Hope Vicki is feeling better. She looked pretty green.
Both Colts are very good looking. 👍❤️
Good video. Just a little TLC is all that is needed
Those two already have good homes, all things being equal. That's a pretty high compliment to Rt66, Vickie & Alan's trust they've built in the larger community 👍
I think your chute is great Alan. The foals are fine - especially as they have each other and it enables you to do the haltering and worming and to get your hands on them. No one had time to sit on a chair with carrots for 3 weeks in my opinion. And we see horses hurt themselves all the time when allowed to panic uncontrollably.
Adorable! Can’t wait to see their progress. Sent out some tractor supply gift cards due to your kindness to the previous owner. Should be there by Saturday. ☺️
Aww ❤
We're having the same warm weather today and yesterday here in East Tennessee. Tonight storms went through our state. Praying for those in Morgan County where they had tornadoes.
Those are the cutest little colts!
Your chute works like a charm. They might be scared for a few minutes but calm down very quickly.
That chute is brilliant
Take care
Good morning. Great videos . From Stav Sydney Australia
Gotta get it started if you wanna get it done ❤. Good start for the babies. Mares look comfortable..big change that feed makes. Sorrel baby is bright like a carrot 🥕 in color. Gonna be pretty..How far along is Sandy horse with the baby belly? Looking forward to the Dark Bay mare's haltering and ground work❤
Vicky its easy to forget you do all the editing which I hear can take a loooong time out of your day. So just want to say thank you. You do a great job and I enjoy the videos. I hope you’re feeling better now. ❤ from Australia.🇦🇺
Great vid. You have a few training projects ahead. As you so tactfully explained the term “broke” is not harmful. It means a well broke horse has a nice handle, responsive, willing, light to cues, no fear. People who lack knowledge make determinations based on assumptions rather than fact. Your chute is safe for the horses and safe for handler win win. Y’all just watch Allen’s process then have an opinion. Thanks for all the patience and great vids you and Vicki produce. ♥️👏👏♥️ The babies actually have good sized hooves which is desirable.
Exactly
The use of the chute for handling works so well...restrains them initially in a safe way
Beautiful colts. But the black mare is my favorite 🖤
Well if it a mare it isn't a colt. Colt denotes male. Filly is young female. Young horse in general is foal.
@karengriffith4021 Yes, I know. Reread my comment
❤❤❤❤😊😊😊😊Blessings
Our weather here in San Diego county in Southern California has also been bipolar or cold were not as cold as yours and our warmest days are in the high 70s like 77 and 78 but still kind of weird rare warm weather for February in this area I am so happy to know there are people out there who are able to help you we have seven horses and most of them are rescue/adoptions. We do OK but we can’t take on anymore. I I would love to help but all I can do it this time is send prayers.
I’ve been watching y’all for I believe a year. I don’t leave comments on most of the channels I watch. It’s just a pain to have to go to my phone to leave one. I watch your channel on my tv. I fell and broke my back a couple of years ago and y’all have kept me sane, to have hope, make my faith in my Lord and savior Jesus Christ stronger , it’s kept me in laughs. Thank you for doing all that y’all do. It’s hard to find good salt of the earth people like y’all. My father had horses when I was young. It’s been years since I’ve ridden. I miss it so much. I live in the Great Smoky Mountains. I’m very lucky to have beauty all around me. But I rarely see much of it since my fall. I have sat back and watched a lot of your videos. Bless y’all! Thank you again for keeping me happy for the last few months. I might try and comment more but if I don’t I just want you to know that I watch everything you put out. I’ve got a few to catch up on. I always give each a like! If I could give you a heart I would so here are a bunch!! ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
I really like your system of haltering and gentling your horses. Not cruel at all. Their always gonna be a little scared at first. It's only natural. Thanks for all you do for the horse world. 💯👍🤠
I love the names Rocky for the appaloosa colt and Ranger for the sorrel colt!
You do nice work everybody has their own way
Those babies are adorable. Specially, that little Appaloosa. I want to watch how you do this since it occurred to me that you could still get a broken arm trying to put a halter on them through the corral fencing, I don’t believe in hand, treating my horses, so sitting with a carrot in a chair isn’t gonna work for me either and I have had this pony in a round pen, and as I mention, she is friendly and loving and you do anything you want except put a halter on her she will follow me without a halter, but my Farrier needs her to have a halter and lead before he will do her feet just in case
Your chute always works, it has been a great and functional idea. God bless Alan and Vicki
I understand that people get upset over terms as there are negative connotations about the word broke
Alan you are so right, but how you put it was so funny. I did watch some of the pony Express. I remember when you and Blake did it together. Time flies God Bless Lou from Det.🐎
That little appaloose 🐎 🐴..... sure is pretty 😍!
Allan, please keep doing what you're doing! You are truly amazing how loving and kind you are to these rescue horses! You always surprise me what you bring home to make better and healthy. Not once have you ever judged or spoke unkind words of the owners of these horses that they were unable to care and feed any longer. Your truly a Christian that walks the word of our lord! I'm so blessed to have found this wonderful farm you share with the world! God bless you. ❤
Thank you so much for your kind words, they mean the world to me. ❤️
Horses can break you and horses can make you go broke, weather the horse is broke, gentled or tamed, it is either a working animal or a pet. You got to feed it and maintain it regardless. Seems to me if you don't like the word broke you don't know much about the horse world. Break, Broke, Broken.
Thats all I got to say about that.🤠
Great job, Alan ... the paint colt who was so scared at the start was watching you to see why you left him after you haltered him, which is a great sign. If you think he needs immediate foot care, let me know here and I will send you a tube of SynChill - just like wormer but you give an hour and a half before trimming to calm them down. 🐴🧤
The term Broke is the old Western Term for a trained horse because that is the way they literally did it because the ranchers didn't have long periods of time to take a wild horse to being useable because they were a working tool whereas the use of most horses now is recreational and therefore there is more time to for the training of horses
you dont have to explain yourself every cowboy has his ways of "breaking" in a horse. keep the vids coming
Our weather here in San Diego county in Southern California has also been bipolar or cold were not as cold as yours and our warmest days are in the high 70s like 77 and 78 but still kind of weird rare warm weather for February in this area
Names for Cookie’s kids: Wafer and Macaroon (Mac). Vicki’s channel should cook something Krspy, Kreamy, wafer, and macaroon to celebrate the baby goats names. 🍩🍦🍫🍪😁
And you do a great job with your method of gentling untouched horses...gentle but not taking enormous periods of time
👍👍🙋♀🙋♀💞💞
They are such beautiful fur babies, they will tame down quick they know you have a soft hand from GOD!! They feel it and will be eating out of your hand soon! Thank you for always being so sweet and kind to these scared babies!! GOD BLESS YOU AND YOUR FAMILY ALWAYS!!❤❤
Hey Alan and Vicki, those that comment and don't do what Alan does, should realy pass on the ride comments K!
JO JO IN VT
And these reservation horses although wild exhibit so much good sense
Your chute is made with materials on hand and functional. What more do you need? And the price is right.
Broke to ride is still very common!
We have three young unhandled horses I’m gonna see if my son can build us a little shoot thing like that so I can squeeze them and get a whole try them. I have tried being patient and just doing everything I’ve seen other trainers do I had success with two of them, but one of them is terrified of the halter. She will let me brush her lift her feet look at her teeth I can braid her mane and tail, and she will stand still and love it, and the minute she sees anything in my hand that represents or resembles a halter, she freaks. We don’t know much about her past history. She is about three almost 4 years old And had never really been handled except to get her here to our place and I did not see how they did that. It is not necessary that she is ever ridden but we do need a halter runner so we can get her feet done and get her to the vet if need be, although we are very fortunate to have three different vets in our county that make farm calls. Anyhow, I like this idea that you have much better.
❤❤
Is the one of the colts an appaloosa or paint?
Nothing wrong with your”chute” and process. I have a blm mustang. I participated in a gentling clinic when I adopted her. After a full day of trying to get her to accept me to get a halter on her I requested that the next morning she be ran in a chute so we could halter her. This gave me the ability to get my hands on her. 4 days later she was able to be led into my horse trailer to take her home. Was she tame?? No! But at least I wasn’t taking a horse home that I couldn’t even touch. So I fully support your way of getting your unhandled horses hands on and haltered.
Pip and pop for the new goats
❤😊
Allen why didn't you ride Rawhide in the pony express, he was great the last time(he is my favorite on your farm 😍)
Don't worry about the haters. Best method. All my horses are far braver than other horses 😂
Your chute cruel? Scary? Of course they are scared at first. OMG. People. You just keep on doing what you are doing.
Names for Cookie's babies - girl/Abby boy/ Oliver
You need to invest in a size halter just a tad bigger than the ones you have. You have so many horses going through your place, you can use them. Putting halters on too small is really not a good idea. When you go to the feed store again, just pick up a couple while you are there.
We use broke here to. I always will. I will not ever be politically correct for others.. sometimes they need to change and remember things may be different for the future just like things evolve.
Alan why did you do the Pony Express again? Harley needs some more training on her before you find her forever home. Alan Harley needs some more desinsiting. Alan is it Irrigation time yet for the pastures on your place? If you guys recall a few years ago you guys went on vacation to Texas and saw some of your family. Did Elder Blake boy cousin go on a mission for your church as well? Alan how about Buttermilk and Blanco or Blanka for the new youngest goats.
If you are a horse person, you know the word “broke”doesn’t mean rough broke. It just means trained. If you’re going to watch specialty channels, you need to learn the lingo.
Had to laugh at the "Bipolar Weather" we are also having that type of weather here in PA. I had my horses in the late 60's and early 70's and yes the times have certainly changed in "breaking" horses! I just have a question.... just how many hands are these horses you get/have ... either you are pretty tall or they are small guessing 14 hand size. I do watch your videos but would rather see the "critters" more than your smiling face! LOL I know you hold the camera in one hand .... too bad you can't fix it to your hat! So just to say you do a pretty good job of breaking in the ponies. Thanks for giving us content other than click bait and politics! God Bless!!!
In an earlier video, Alan mentioned that the sire of these two babies is a pony stallion who got loose and bred both mares. That’s why they’re so small. They’re going to stay that way.
Im from Indiana and we say broke!
I told you yrs ago “wish I was your neighbor - I would help every day”. Linda Schryer ❤
Oh for Pete Sake. Use the word "broke". People are so critical. I have had enough of people being critical.
Yep they are all experts. And God forbid u comment back to their comments.
They're cute as a button.
The goats are all white? How unusual.
Are they ponies
Yes
The black mare Looks like she is pregnant
It's "broke" as far as I've ever known. "Green Broke, broke to ride" etc. People who don't like you rambling can just fast forward. You are doing fine.
If you didn’t get all these monetary donations how many horses could you actually afford to own
We don’t get a lot of donations, what we do get Shirley helps! Even before we had a channel, we’ve always had 5 to 10 horses or donkeys around
Please don't get upset with people not liking you to leave leads on them.
I’m confused what you’re saying
I think that Linda is just remembering that you got hassled for doing that in a previous video. I remember that comment too. So silly.
Leaving a rope on them teaches them to step around the rope and get themselves out of a pickle if they happen to step on it. It’s not cruel. It’s not mean. It’s a form of passive training. They learn to give to the resistance of a rope in their own time. It gives them plenty of time to think it out. You want to develop a horse who thinks for itself because you can’t always be there to get it out of trouble.
