All the times I've heard this music (never having heard/seen it played live), it never occurred to me that this beautiful sound was created with only five instrumentalists. So beautiful!
Of course! It's fascinating about Classical music, how its nobility can add meaning to life, and define the seasons and our memories of this short time we have on Earth. It is Winter here in New York State's Hudson, Valley, USA. I am listening to Mendelssohn right now. I tend to favour Mozart, Haydn, Beethoven, and then, the Romantics in Winter.
I feel this music fits as well with ice´cycles and snow crystals, Autumn's psychedelic foliage display and Summer's mystery of warmth with the loss of light and of course with Spring's bursting blossoms. Nonetheless the wonder of Debussy is a visionary concept of new harmony which was a solution like Wagner for freely harmonic invention. Of course Ravel went a bit further as well as Debussy with "Le Jeux" and Scriabin, Bartok, Messiaen, Symanovski, Roslavec, Sorajbi as well as others and eventually modern jazz and a new form of logical movement of music in the horizontal with a gorgeous vertical. All based on the same progression of Johann Sebastian Bach's movement of tritones.
One of the best compositions by Debussy. Great harpest. Nicely done.
A wonderfully restrained cellist.
Fantastic ! Thank you. My favorite piece of Debussy music.
Thank you for this moment
It's the [amazing] Quatore Ebene, with this amazing harpist
So beautiful and inspiring.

It is often played with a full ensemble of strings as well :)
@@arielbarnes-cellist3341 it’s cool to me how most of the time it’s a full ensemble despite originally being meant to be played with a quartet
magico, elegante, meraviglioso, raffinato....sono commossa! thank you for sharing!
Like Faure, Debussy's music works in springtime. Especially this sublime piece!

Beautiful harp, I am too poor to buy a Salvi harp, made for male harpists, which I am one. Thank you
I think she's playing with a Camac harp, and her husband (I think), Jakez Francois, plays the harp as well :)
