#PHOTOGRAPHY
I have a feeling George is gonna be a cool uncle
I am already a cool uncle to a 1 and 3 year old
I’m sure people in the future will see George’s grandkids on RUclips or Reddit like “My grandpa passed away and left me his $1,000,000 camera collection 😱”
What in the flying 2001: a space odyssey fuck did I just witness.
I like the creative ideas on how to film yourself talking to the camera, switching it up all the time and going for different and unusual angles
I don't know why but his framing looks so British 😅
I really like the concept! This isn't just about teaching a ML algorithm what a gas station looks like, but its actually learning something about the way that photographers actually perceive these scenes and what we decide to capture as a combined consciousness. I saw a photography exhibition a while ago with one of these weird films created by an AI, except it was provided a training set of different species of flowers, and the algorithm created images that obviously were of flowers, images of flowers that don't exist. It reminds me a bit of platonic forms, that its somehow capturing what the 'essence' of what these objects are
You remember the name of the exhibition or the artist by any chance? Sounds super interesting
@@SebNooord just had a google to see if I could find it, here you go: annaridler.com/mosaic-virus
should be in a modern art museum.
Or be an NFT
going to make a GAN of george talking to the camera center frame: 30 georges that don't exist
"I have a master plan" - Fantastic Mr. Fox feat. a beanie and Anderson camera angle
these are beautiful! would be interested in a video explaining how you made it
Film photography + Modular is a match made in heaven in my opinion. It's nice seeing 2 of my favourite creators collaborating too
3:39 when you have sniffed too much at the chemicals during development. 😂 this is f*cking trippy
Super creative George. Love this kind of work
I really enjoy seeing the evolution of your visual practice George. I think your work is getting seriously grounded in many interesting post-photographic narratives. Thanks again for this great content. Best
Can someone share me a video tutorial for do something like this awesome video!
Great concept! very similar to Jack Lathams Latent Bloom or Max Pinckers Trophy Camera
This is sick George. Pushing the whole RUclips film scene forward with this one
By encountering the problem of being creatively stuck in the medium in which you have the most affinity, it is a nice source of creative imagination to deal with it and a good attempt to solve it.
Hi! I'd like to try this for myself just for fun hahahaha. Can you happen to share a really quick pseudocode or any external sources or apis you used for this?
I wanna know too
Me too it’s sooo interesting
try searching for artbreeder or gans-awesome-application on github
This is like watching a gasstation through a really wavy/milky pane of glass at times, so much so that you can feel that there is really a gasstation behind the distortion.
Absolutely love the transitions from night to day. Feels like an alienation of a familiar subject, questions what we believe is real.
Like the creative lift. 🎉
that was very touching. like i didn't feel like the end product was shitting on shooters either.
George is the biggest thing to happen to vests since Die Hard
Thanks
Man u are crazy inspiration to me! Gonna use some of your ideas in my next music videos! Great camera work!
Bookshelf peeping: I just got Mitch Epstien’s American Power book and it reminded me of your pictures of Ferrybridge power station!
That is pretty awesome. I love the synth soundtrack!
Love the result George! Pleasure to take part, great to see you pushing the medium.
You needed a minimum of 100 gas station photos? Should have just gone to the front page of r/analog, love ya George!
Lol
hashtag cinestil800
Wonderful tripy video and music - highly appreciate both!
I cheered when you said you were gonna do 'gas stations at night'. It was between that and diners for me so I'm glad you went that way.
Oh my god George I am so impressed. You are Changing the game. The rebirth of this channel has been a unique privilege to watch.
Fascinating video. Love the end montage and the synth works so well. Waiting for part 2: lamp posts and street corners
Love the morphing petrol stations. And the soundtrack. Minor quibble: in actuality the system is creating images, rather than « taking photos ». I think that the technique probably being used is a neural network [a form of machine learning, which is a branch of AI {Artificial Intelligence} and more specifically an example of « deep learning »
For more info see the Wikipedia entry « Artificial Neural Networks », part of a series on Machine Learning.
Do you think the opening to Brockhampton's music video for Buzzcut was made with a GAN? Seems like a similar generated image
Pretty sure him and his friend are the ones who did the visualizers for the Roadrunner album :DD
Can you do a tutorial on how to do it?
If I remember correctly, there is a tutorial on GANs in the TensorFlow documentation. I’m sure there are also more accessible tutorials out there.
Ive seen you do this for new Brockhampton!! Goes hard man! Good job
OKAY- that was next level awesome. Just tickled my little sweet spot...
Thanks for the ideas man. Great inspiration. I will be using my own image though cos I love taking foto's.
so cool....
This is, jokes aside, a really fucking cool idea George. Hope you're going to develop further on this in the future!
Simply Georgeous !
Holy shit what a wild idea. Great video!
Everything looks like the noise reduction slider was maxed out.
I am waiting for George to start developing his own Neural Networks using Python and Tensor Flow
One word: Brilliant! Cudos to the two of you!
Tell us you're making this a NFT and selling it for a million.
This is such a masterpiece
I would find it more interesting to use a classification algorithm to determine which of my pictures are actually visually pleasing
The final video gives me a sense of glitch art
So fckn cool
I called it, LOL gas stations at night. Try Roy's sign if you want a tighter training set for the ML
This is so fucking cool.
As Spock would say...."Fascinating". Loved the music, too
wow this can be a hole new thing in digital art
The technology celebrate today will be the monarch we hate tomorrow
I don't really understand why anyone is celebrating it. Back in the 90s we thought the internet was going to be great... It isn't.
Nice
Hi George , can you please add link to GAN online ? Loved this video want to try it 🤘
Runway ML
Nice collab. Very cool!
this is some artistic stuff. love it
This is basically a work of art.
Looking forward to the "americana" version of this, with ruined motelsigns and the shiny backs of old mustangs and corvettes
George unleashed Skynet, only it bedazzles people with dreamworld images before eliminating them
Did you do any of the machine learning specifically on your own? Any tutorials? I'm fascinated by your project.
This is perfect
Does it sound crazy that I want a tattoo of one of those weird phases during the video..!? 😂🤷🏾♂️
this is sick man
This was so cool! The images with the soundtrack together reminded me of Koyaanisqatsi
Nice to see you here too 😂
@@REMY.C. I'm helpless lol
@@sadiesmith4773 admitting it is the first step to recovery :-D it's gonna be alright. See you soon in the posts of an another film photography youtuber. Oh and I'm no stalker, I'm not following you or harassing you XD
Georgie’s the GOAT
This is incredible
That was amazing man!
Gaahhhhdammit, I had a print in my cart, but it added over 50 pounds to ship :( probably because I'm in the US. Big sad.
BUT, that a/v sequence would fit stupid well in a multimedia art gallery. Superb stuff.
dude, this is amazing!
Love it!
I believe Jack Latham did this with flowers?
Been chatting to Jack Latham I see !
My thoughts exactly
This is basically Jack Latham's Bloom project. Whom you are aware of. and should credit.
Loved it
It's like a future mushroom
Did you code yourself ? That looked amazing !
I've been trying to figure out how to do this without coding knowledge, Nvidia GPU or spending money on RunwayML.. What did you use to make the GANs?
Spent money on runway
Worth it IMO for the simplicity
Living in the future is amazing. Thats some weird shit bro. Thanks.
Similar to D33J - Next day vid! so sick
Nah this is too cool!
Now this is an NFT i'd buy.
It is very interesting to see how AI has come so far that now it is trying to replicate itself in the realms of computing, science, gaming and art.
Really cool effect there ( 2:40) , reminds me of acid , could i ask how did you make that effect ? or was it from a computer generated animation when studying the photos ?
I wouldn’t be surprised if this ends up in the Tate gallery at some point in the future. It’s a really cool idea.
this feels way too much like an acid trip
but incredible fucking work nonetheless
Kinda sucks you didn't share software or skillshare class links! good work otherwise though
Man if you put this up on foundation as an NFT it would sell for 5 figures
Dang that’s crazy
Your computer knew how to take pics before you did.
well thats better than most of art graduates thesis!
i like the canon fd l
What software did you use? Or did you develop it yourself?
Very cool and interesting but I'm not sure I'd be putting my cameras away just yet.
anyone know where he got this beanie?
194 local
Anyone here know the reciprocity factor for pro 400H
I feel like this is what the world will look like to the first conscious AI. What an incredible piece of art.
@Dominique We don't know enough about consciousness to know whether that is true.
Oh you’re different 🤯
I'm at 1:49 and the next thing I wanna see is computer generated gas stations
George is slowly becoming a vtuber?
