Reminder: if Elphaba (The Wicked Witch) is so enraged towards Dorothy in "The Wizard of Oz" movie it’s because at the very beginning Dorothy kills Elphaba’s sister by crashing with her house on her, then Glinda steal the dead sister’s shoes and give them to Dorothy to mess with Elphaba even more. Which was pure unnecessary devious cruelty… The whole point of "The Wizard of Oz" original movie story was that the Wizard was actually a fraud with no magical power hiding behind beautiful speeches to maintain a strong political influence and remain in power, who manipulated Dorothy with fake promises into hunting and killing his rival: Elphaba who was already an outcast because of the way she looked. Also if it comforts you… in both the original "Wizard of Oz" movie and in this one "Wicked", Glinda (the blond lady in pink) is also one of the corrupted fake brats to work with the Wizard. That’s why at the beginning of the original "Wizard of Oz" movie before even stealing Elphaba’s dead sister’s slippers she actually quickly reveal herself to be quite a messy brat when asking Dorothy if she’s "a bad witch or a good witch" even though she makes it clear good witches are easily recognizable to their beauty while only bad witches are ugly therefore subtly calling Dorothy mid even though they barely just met. Wicked is a movie that has been in development for over ten years now, it’s a story that has been written by a man and that is now being adapted to the big screen by a man as well (director: Jon M Chu). Wicked is THEE original Vilain Origin Story that inspired so many successful stories (movies/series) that we’ve got to see on the big screen lately such as Frozen, Maleficent, Wednesday, The School of Good and Evil etc… In Wicked there’s no real good or bad guy as the whole point of the story is to show how nuanced and complex each individual’s story and personality truly is with to each their own fair part of flaws/darkness and uniqueness/kindness at the same time. But if it comforts you in your misogyny… in this movie the Wizard won’t be the only antagonist, women such as Glinda and Madame Morrible will also play a big part as antagonists as well.
The whole point of the Wizard of Oz is about how the Wizard is a fraud, and he's not even the main villain of Wicked. Also, the Wicked book was written by a man, the movie iw being directed by a man as well.
Man’s account is “men of tomorrow” didn’t surprise me he’s sexist AF. He obviously hasn’t read the books either because the Wizard of Oz was always the villain and painted Elphaba to be evil because she was a threat to him and exposing him to all of Oz. She stood up for what was right. His views are gross as he obviously hates empowered women
this movie is directed by a man tho, and the musical came out in 2003. also, the wizard in both the wizard and oz and the wiz (the one with michael jackson and diana ross) is a fraud and somewhat of a villain

Ummmm if I recall, the wizard of Oz was a fraud. Used Dorothy to kill the witch so he could have power. Read the books and rewatch the film.
