I have a fun ceramic story for you:
A couple years ago,I found a Roman floor tile in the Thames River in London.
    But here’s the cool part!
The tile, when it was first made, and the soft red clay was sitting out to dry,a DOG stepped on it!!!
So I have this 1900 year old tile with a 1900 year old pawprint pressed into it!!
A rare find, all the other mudlarks were jealous🤣

      Oh! I do have a question,regarding the casserole masterpices(mistresspieces?).
Would these be condusive to baking a Lasagne?
My mother is 100 % Italian, but she uses these crummy aluminum pans when making the lasagne.
If you are selling,I am buying🤣
I need to set my mom straight on lasagne cookware.
Oh,also,to make you smile,I love your big watch!
There is something about checkerboard pattern that makes my heart go all pitter-patter😅

Heat rises so if it’s uneven firing then it would be more bent on the top. My idea is that it is probably the cones needed a little adjusting. But the firing is on point. I saw nothing to make me think that your kiln is cooler on the top. It looks equal to the bottom. I’ve been doing ceramics for over 50 years and spent a lot of time studying all the technical issues. It’s not enough for me just to glaze and fire. I have to know everything about my pieces and glazes and kilns. I love tedious research and testing. Hope this helps.

Jess can you steer my to a video that shows the process of your mugs please. I'm trying to learn how to do that effect with the black in the outline & the coloured glaze looking mottley overtop.

The color results obtained with Mayco light (or dark) flux depend upon the chemistry of the glaze(s) it is paired with, if it is under or over the glaze, if there is texture and how many coats is used. It isn't appropriate to state that it has a "peachy" tone as it varies substantially. 16:40

Umm, Jess, you might need to bump up the prescription on those glasses, because I definitely see pinholes on that rose quartz bakeware!😅🤓 -- Yours Truly, A potter who wears 2.5 reading glasses

I had watched part of the Bakeware building, and I went back to keep watching and I can’t find it anymore. Was it taken off the channel?

How can you categorize something as "bake wear"

    • @chloeuntrau4588
      @chloeuntrau4588 5 месяцев назад

?? anything you cook in an oven! you bake and not "cook"in an oven...thus pies, casserolles etc and the dishes in wich you prepare it are "bake ware"

Haha what I meant was what constitutes a piece you make as "oven safe" or not? All of our pottery are fired to much higher temps in the making process so I'm not sure why some could be sold as bakeware and some couldn't. Is it the type of clay you use? Something else? Or is it just considered that if it's using food safe glaze, isn't pin holing, and is an appropriate shape?

@@jasminelee735my clay manufacturer tells me the clay is microwave, oven, and food safe. Usually grog clays can go in a cold to hot oven. Check with the clay maker
