My baby son's primary speaking language is Dutch, but he understands almost everything (that a little toldder can) in both languages. The whole process is fascinating to say the least.
If parent sticks to their language is very doable . My daughter's mother speaks to her in Chinese and some English, I only speak to her in Russian and outside of home she speaks English and French. If kids exposed to languages at early age it is very doable, those damn young brains are bloody smart haha . So it is a combination of two methods.
