renting an apartment is not easy. is not just about paying rent. all apartments for rent got way too many requirements. one of them is proof of income, n it's gotta be 2 to 3 times the amount of rent monthly n most retirees dont make the much money monthly from ss. n bunch of many more requirements. Basically, no way, no hope, for these poor homeless folks even if they get retirement monthly check from ss. that's not good enough for them to get a place to live in. that's cruel. sorry folks.
I believe social security can be as low as $941 per month because social security does not adjust your past earnings for inflation. With man in the video for example would have seen his income not adjusted for inflation thus giving him potentially the lowest amount of $941. It's even worse when the person was self employed because although IRS will happily accept any earned income to take taxes out of, social security is far more picky as to what incomes they'll count as earned income towards work credits that determine disability or retirement benefit amounts. We all know some homeless are just junkies that created their own mess but a lot of homeless people simply had really bad luck in life and get no help. They get shunned, looked down on, harassed, ran off, etc. Far too often instead of helping lift someone up in life, people will want that homeless person to vanish probably because of the old saying out of sight out of mind. Social security checks can be higher if the person had a very good income but many in FL are stuck living off of between $941 to $1,500. So the person on disability getting a likely $941 check looks to rent a place and are told their household income must be 2x, 2.5x, or 3x the monthly rent which essentially eliminated 99.9% of options. The 0.01% that are not insanely priced with crazy requirements typically will get rented out as soon as one becomes available. The government housing assistance can take several years on a waiting list and often will be in high crime areas. There are options for people though, there are small 1br mobile homes, small RVs, campers, that are turned into mostly fixed location homes that can be affordable but then there's more roadblocks government and society throws in front of people. If a person is getting $941 in FL per month and finds a little camper to rent for 600 or 700 then they will have a little left over for clothing, basic supplies, etc but not food. Even on disability it can be difficult for a single male without kids living with him to get any EBT. People on SSI can get some EBT but people on SSDI typically cannot because DCF will claim they get too much money to be eligible for EBT. Even if the person can get EBT, it won't be enough to cover food for a month even cooking at home. I can only imagine how difficult life will continue to get for some people.

This type of video making sickens me. Would you take a portion of the money made from these type of videos you make and hand it over to these people? Or will it be used to only enhance your life? This man and the many like him need blessings not exploited for personal profit. A home cooked hot meal? A gym membership for hot showers? A tent? A bicycle? All of those things are just some ideas that are very low cost that would enhance HIS life. Imagine how he would feel if he knew that someone cared about him. At least he has income coming in every month unlike a lot of homeless. Can always look for a roommate on Craigslist to get a small apartment or a room to rent.
