Stellar being speechless in the first weeks of this is just understandable. Meaningful silence. Superb ensemble. Von Trier should win Nobel Prize for Literature for his screenplays. But most of all, a fuccing genius film director is he.
Kidman is the bravest of all actresses working today. To go out on a limb an do projects like Dogville, The Hours, Moulin Rouge!, The Others, To Die For, Eyes Wide Shut and Big Little Lies, putting herself through abuse, depression, singing, dancing homicide, 3 year shoots, etc. and do it so seemingly effortlessly is just astounding to me. Who else would dare say yes to playing Virginia Wolf, Lucile Ball, or Southern trash like Charlotte Bless? And she's done really good commercial work as well, like The Undoing, Paddington, or Lion. What a talent. Can't wait for Babygirl next, which she also aced, apparently.
I'm almost sure this film was von Trier's intention of torturing and doing some kind of sick experiment on his actors. The film is just a means to an end for him.
Lauren Bacall and Siobhan Fallon are so chilled, love them.
This is pretty fascinating to watch

Lauren Bacall never stopped being elegant.
If 'Dogville' ever gets the Criterion Collection Blu-ray treatment, this must be included in it.
