@@brianwu7080 And even in the New 52 comics, when The Wizard brought Billy to him, he looked into his heart, and actually denied him on the spot for he saw corruption in his heart. But Billy called him out on it, telling him that just because they a little bit of corruption doesn't mean they are all completely bad to the core, and have also struggled with their lives. The Wizard took it into consideration and looked deeper into Billy's heart seeing all the good he's done, and his struggles in life. With that, he saw that Billy was the perfect person to carry on his work and powers.

The idea that he can admit that no one person truly is honest, is the most honest thing he could say.
I love how this backstory still connects to Black Adam. The Wizard said they chose "wrecklessly" because they didn't guide their champion enough and they never thought Teth Adam's son would give his power to him.
And maybe the Council chose Teth-Adam's Son because they want to retrieve the 7 deadly sins that King Ahk-Ton is keeping to his palace. Instead, when the Palace is destroyed. The 7 deadly sins are freed.
Yep, since Sabbax is literally part of the gates of the underworld hell with the deadly sins.
Maybe, assuming they do a proper “Black Adam vs Shazam” movie, or even a video game, they might retcon Teth Adam’s motives for protecting his son to be more flawed and fearful, like he thought his happiness hinged entirely on Hurut’s survival(even at the expense of his countrymen). It could add more context to Black Adam killing so many of his own people, like he was purposely punishing them for disallowing him to protect what he selfishly thought was the only thing that made the world a better place for him.

Billy admitted he isn't all good and pure and he has his doubts others are too. That is what makes him worthy: he admitted it outright that he isn't perfect. He didn't hide it or sugarcoat it. He straight out honestly said it. That is something Dr. Sivana, not even Black Adam, could never do: admit fault within himself. So yeah, he goes off has fun with his new powers, but in the end, takes responsibility he was given. You can't improve others without first improve yourself, and the best first step is admitting it.

Well to be fair Black Adam never said he was a good guy, even in the comics.

They talk about it like Adam was the champion who went off the rails when the champion they chose was fine and had too good a heart if anything, we don’t get any hints to The Seven Deadly Sins being unleashed post Adam’s rage out and we don’t really get any hints that any other civilisations were destroyed they seemed to rebuild pretty quickly as there’s enough remains from the original city around the place

What's a staff
The added humor in this scene is incredible. It feels very natural. Billy is being a kid and the wizard does not break character and doesnt hesitate.
I love Marvel movies, but their jokes feel in movies got a little too forced in the end. This comedy feels real.
I'm the same way with a lot of the jokes in Marvel movies. Except for Endgame, a lot of the jokes in that one felt natural.

You know, I didn’t notice this on my first viewing, but I liked that this movie didn’t fully confirm Billy was pure of heart. Shazam didn’t have the Eye to test him like he did Sivana. For a kid’s fantasy superhero, that was a surprisingly grounded character trait.
This is also part of why I’d really like to see Shazam crossover and interact with Wonder Woman in the DCEU.
Diana’s arc in her first movie was realizing every person has a dark side, and that you should fight for values rather than figures. I really see some story potential between them: Billy could struggle with maintaining his heroism, and come to doubt himself by not being pure of heart. Then Diana could impart some mentor-ly, even matronly wisdom. Seeing a one superhero teach another who wasn’t a sidekick or a potential usurper would be a nice change of pace I think as well.
I doubt it will ever happen, but I like the thought of it all the same.
That would be an excellent character dynamic!
The eye was already stolen by Sivana at this point, though.

@@zeeyadb77 I think they're referring to how, when he's listing the powers of SHAZAM, there's a very slight pause between "Stamina of Atlas" and "Power of Zeus" like he was thinking about his line, but to me it sounded natural. I still can't recite all of them without pausing halfway through to remember which one's next, and that's without the fact that this guy had multiple lines leading into this one, with no places for a cut to give him the ability to stop and read the next section, meaning he had to memorize the whole thing.

I think in the comics it’s a bit clearer that he chose billy because he saw that he had potential to be truly good, accepting that he was flawed but could be better with his gift. Or something like that

People say that Billy Batson the kid doesn't reflect his attitude when he's Shazam the adult. This scene seems pretty consistent with their attitude
I genuinely consider this movie one of the biggest achievements in cinematic history.

That was a pretty subtle and sneaky way of showing Black Adam without actually showing Black Adam.

2:45 after watching Black Adam, I'm willing to believe that the other wizards that were killed were the same as Billy's foster family. Shazam shared his powers with them. As opposed to all of them coming together naturally.
The back story is actually pretty actually accurate to what happened in Black Adam, a few details are off the vengeance part is accurate

Her magic is more or less within her and correct me if I'm wrong some of her power is lended to her (not entirely by choice) from her father, trigon.

My number one favorite DCEU movie.
I really, REALLY wish this generation's DC comic book people can replace the New 52/Rebirth Billy Batson with the original Billy Batson who was indeed pure-hearted, hopeful and possibly becoming experienced at the age of 25, 35 or 81 and still originally OP in his SHAZAM form (before the old Silver Age/Pre-Crisis Superman version) permanently for DC's Prime Earth.
Would've been cool if we at least got a reference to the seven deadly sins in Black Adam.

After watching Black Adam I really think that there is consistency.

Teth-Adam, after his son is murdered, is seeking for revenge and kills king right after he touched the crown. Maybe seven deadly sins are connected with demons and after Adam’s fury they were unleashed. Thats my theory.
yup the seven deadly sins were unleashed after teth adam kills the emperor that holds them. Teth adam had no idea about it but i think his son hurut does. However, the wizards had no idea that hurut transferred his power to his father.
Yep the destruction of the Palace with the ensuing battle released the seven deadly sins and lives of insurmountable amount were lost.
I want to see this kid act when he gets older, has great comedic timing. The best friend does also.

The wizard thought his champion was corrupted by his power but in truth the one who killed the other wizards was his champion's father. The champion (hurut) shared his powers with him to save him from death but while he was powerless hurut was killed and his father went mad for grief 😭

It looks like the Seven Deadly Sins of Man were housed inside the palace in Khandaq. That makes sense considering the king was dabbling in dark magic. Black Adam destroys that Palace while killing the king and releases the Sins unintentionally
