an intresting interpretation of hitler, lol ok now real talking, i struggled to understand what he meant with "we have nothing else i need to say that's what it means to be the fūhrer's wife" i understand now that he means something among the lines "she should already know i will die in duty, and make peace with it, just like i did" wich i hope so him not making a fuss about his own death just like with huges funeral, as well as the smite from the sun and moon together representing god, quite poetic
When we were first introduced to his character, he had this really intimidating aura. Whenever he was on screen I was scared for the characters cause he never held back and after seeing him slaughter all of greeds friends I found him even more terrifying lol. He was just so overpowering and daunting, which just made him so much cooler. His character and motives were really interesting and so towards the end I definitely felt more sympathy towards him
Bradley is one of the most interesting characters in the show, from start to finish. And that's saying something. I always tell people that every fight in FMA:B is accompanied by a philosophical debate, and Bradley is the best example of that. Specifically how he keeps the debate going after the final blow is struck in his fight with Scar. All of the Hommunculi have fantastic deaths, and his is my favorite among them.
To me he is a TOP5 character of the show easily, along with Edward, Mustang and Hohenheim. In my first watch he was my favorite. I think every single scene in which he appeared was great because Bradley is one of the most intimidating, complex and badass character of any anime I have watched honestly.
You nailed it when you said "Kimbley hates hypocrisy." He's insane, yes. But he is firm in his insanity and finds himself respecting the Elric brothers for sticking to their guns no matter how hard the struggle. Ed was so determined not to kill that he himself almost died. I can honestly see him sitting back within Pride, watching the final conflict and seeing where the die land. I can see him content to watch until Pride gave up his pride to escape into Ed's body. That hypocrisy was a step too far. Meanwhile he fully believed that Ed would end Pride without killing him because he sees Ed as a kindred spirit, someone who sticks to their convictions no matter the cost.
I'm of the belief that he is not insane at all. That he sees reality exactly how it is, and simply chooses to be evil in the face of it. There isn't a flicker of insanity, not a single flaw in his rationale. In the face of not caring for human life, loving violence, and loving power, there is nothing insane or incorrect about any part of his thought process. That's what makes him such a compelling villain.
@@fopipilop Yeah people tend to confuse insanity as having a mindset that opposes society, when it actually a mindset that opposes reality. At no point does Kimbley ever show that he doesn't understand or is misinterpretating or misrepresenting reality to himself or others. He fully understand that his actions are abhorrent in the face of accepted society, he just doesn't agree with accepted society.
This further confirms that Kimblee was 100% honest and genuine when he said to Winry that he deeply respected her parents for sticking to their conviction of saving people.
So, Edward already had lots of experience when it comes to transmuting souls, but when Edward was impaled and nearly died after fighting Kimblee and the Chimeras in the mines, he also came to the realization that he could technically be considered to be a philosopher’s stone. It’s just that he only contains one soul, his own. Moreover, Selim had just explained that he and Ed are actually closely (genetically) related, because he was created from Father (who is essentially just a clone of Hohenheim; even the core of Father’s being was created from Hohenheim's blood). So just as Selim could use that close blood connection to Ed to possess his body, Ed was fully capable of doing the reverse. But rather than destroy Selim, Ed chooses to destroy Selim’s hollow vessel and shadow form, to reveal the true fetus-like body inside. At the end of the day, a true Homunculus in Alchemy is a "dwarf in a flask"; a tiny human small enough to fit in one's own palm. So the Salem scene actually makes sense in a way. It’s also symbolic that the Homunculus who most represents Father’s strongest trait and was stated to have been Father's original form, was actually a tiny infant deep down. It’s also sweet that when Selim thought he was genuinely going to die, what he wanted wasn’t his father, but the family he had with Bradly (wrath) and Mrs. Bradley. He was just an arrogant boy that wanted his mother.
Father toke all his Pride out which the infant. That's was Father's true form when he was in the flask. This is my theory. Father came from beyond the gate. Which are potential souls to be born into human form. To gain experience from the world. Hohenheim master pulled a potential soul from the gate. But it came to the world with untold knowledge. So it thought it was above humans. Never learned anything. So God sent him back to most likely to never become an actual human soul.
That scene with the soul going back into the infant... those few seconds of silence before they cry and let know you they're alive once more. Those few seconds I always find myself holding my breath before they cry. I love that moment.
Also, you're definitely on point with Wrath's death and the idea of "God" seeming to intervene. Wrath rejected the notion of God and faith, and all the significance it played in the lives of the faithful, such as the Ishvalans. Finally, he's taken down by a notable victim of his genocide against a religious people, but it wasn't solely through Scar's skill that he won. Wrath was blinded by a mere "coincidence" of timing... from the sun and moon-- symbolic representations we are reminded multiple times throughout the series represent the idea of God. As Wrath said: "If they exist, perhaps this is their way of divine justice and providence."
And they put the Rain theme song at that exact moment makes the scene so powerfull. I almost cry everytime i watch the scene

Ed's ideology of not killing is so strong that instead of killing pride, he reduced it down to its original soul and state. he basically gave pride a chance to live as a normal human
-Lust was killed on her knees by the fiery passion of a man protecting his love. Also, Roy has a reputation for being a lady killer. -Gluttony was eaten. He was consumed by one who was hungry for power; another form of gluttony. -Envy kills himself because he realized he was jealous of humans. -Sloth died from over-exertion. He chose to die when living required too much effort. Also, one of the people responsible for his death was Alex, a man who did nothing when he knew his government was in the wrong (Ishval). Alex refused to repeat that mistake and took action; ending his own sloth. -Wrath died at peace with his life. And he was killed by Scar, a man who overcame his own anger. And also one of the reasons for his death is because he was blinded by the sun, even though he was an atheist, AND he was indirectly betrayed by his sword which he had used to assert his feelings of anger. -Pride, while not technically dead (which is also even more symbolic, because of pride being humanities greatest sin - and the one sin that will never die), is defeated when he lowers his standards to become something he believes to be below him. Furthermore, Ed had long since abandoned his own pride after being humbled many times in his life. Fma:b is really just incredible.
Great analysis but you forgot one: - Greed, the one who wanted everything, learned to share all he had, including his own body, for the sake of others. He then ultimately died protecting the people he once saw as possessions. Arakawa Hiromu is a genius. She is as amazing as the female characters she writes
I love that this fight was when we finally got to see Bradly full embrace his namesake as Wrath. Because true wrath isn’t just anger, it’s righteous fury and vehement indignation. From Bradly/Wrath’s perspective, humans have wasted their true potential and should be punished for being corrupt, self-contradictory, weak, and using others to excuse their own failings or legitimatizing injustice. That being said, the light emitted from the corona of the eclipse blinding Bradly was cathartic. It was almost as if God was saying screw you.
I think the scene with Bradley's death works on a lot of levels, like you said. There's absolutely the meaning of that moment being like "an act of God", BUT there is another aspect of it too. Back in the 30th episode you were talking about, what Bradley said was "If you want to strike me down for all these atrocities, use your own hands to do so, not God's." So, not only is this God striking him down, but Scar also literally using his own hands to do it at the same time.
So many thoughts about this episode, even though I've watched it dozens of times by now. Truly epic! Hohenheim is an absolute legend, one of the best characters in the show amongst a cast of amazing characters. He and Scar really came in clutch here, and I love them for that. Then Bradley's death: What a great death speech! He was true to himself, I feel. Plus, the embodiment of "wrath" dying peacefully with a smile on his face fits in with how so many other Homunculi have died in this show: Opposite of their sin, almost. And I love that contradiction as well. 15:30 That, I believe, is EXACTLY what it was. Remember the episode "The Ishvalan War of Extermination"? Bradley tells the leader of the Ishvalans that if god wanted to strike him down, he would have done so already? Or something to that effect. And now, here it is...he got what he wished for. (EDIT: Just then hear you say this exact thing a second later. DERP!)
Hahaha I forgot how much this episode was! SO glad you caught onto God's potential intervention in striking Bradley down. Regarding Ed turning into a philosopher stone is something he established he figured out when saving himself from being impaled back in the mines. To harness the power of his own soul as one would use as a philosopher stone, essentially being a stone of one person. And Kimbley's comeback always brings a smile on my face - he was always unpredictable to the point that he just did whatever he wanted, even including shaming the one they call the embodiment of Pride.
So many things to say about this episode. The moon’s shadow being the circle was one of the most badass thing I’ve ever seen! Hearing that baby cry always gets me in the feels! I felt the same way about the sun glare being God striking Wrath down and him grabbing the blade with his mouth was Crazy! And seeing Pride get taken down thanks to Kimblee was such an incredible way for both of them to go.
The anti transmutation circle with the moons shadow was all Hohenheim. Scar’s. Brothers circle just unlocked the full potential of alchemist in Amestris by removing the seal father placed that filter and dulled the amount of energy they could harness from the land. You pretty much spot one about Selim/Pride but he was still artificially made even as that purified fetus he is still an artificial human a homunculus he was never birth per say.
Random comment, but just responding to a passing comment you made about all the sacrifices being okay after he used them. Despite them being called 'sacrifices' - their lives were not needed for his transmutation. He was using their knowledge as the component he needed. He needed 5 beings who had knowledge from truth in order to fulfill the transmutation so that all together the knowledge was there to acquire god/open the planet's gate. Just thought to add the 2 cents because it's very cool.
The Fuhrer's last words about his wife to lan fan are so impactful specially considering lan fan's own relationship with ling, the son's emperor and possible candidate for the throne of xing...
ha, i see ed vs pride caught you off guard, yeah, it's a really cool moment and kimblee leaving in such a BANG!! while ed deating/humbling pride, and leaving his pride, the red coat behind, this show has such a re-watch value
My favorite FMAB episode. I highly recommend these 2 amazing videos on youtube : -The Philosophy and Contradictions of King Bradley -Solf J. Kimblee - The Psychopathic Realist
Remember when Kimblee said he wanted to see which side would prevail? The moment Pride sought Edward's body, that told Kimblee that humans were stronger than homunculus. That's why Kimblee stepped in, Pride basically admitted he was weaker than Ed.
I think it’s not necessarily that father made them into a fetus or a lizard but it’s more like, he created the homunculi in the forms that we see (with the exception of envy being a giant green monster) and the fetus and lizard we see is a representation of those sins pure essence within father. His pride taking the form of a fetus is to represent how he never grew/learned anything and yet was as boastful as an arrogant child (like you said). And his envy taking the form of a small lizard shows us how pathetic and ridiculous he saw himself when he was still a dwarf in the flask. tldr; basically the sins are a representation of what he wants others to see him as while the fetus and lizard are the true representation of what he is (weak and pathetic).
There where two anti transmutations, the one from Hohenheim to bring back the souls, that was his alone. The Ishvalen transmutation was the transmutation that stopped Father from blocking alchemie and was giving all the Alchemists their full Power to use.
To explain Ed's transmutation, he has seen the truth 4 times now and has full access to tectonic energy. All that coupled with him using souls before and his own life energy gave him to knowledge to purge energy similar to what Dr Marco did, but different
23:52 something to think about. When Ed lost his limbs to the Truth, he was able to regain the lost function by leaning on Winry, his romantic interest. Perhaps Mustang can lean on Hawkeye to similarly regain his lost function now that the Truth has taken his eyesight - which does go some way towards affirming her as a romantic interest for the Colonel.
The souls within philosopher stones don’t have individual wills. However, the ones within Hohenheim do because he talked to them and sorted through them to give them peace and get some peace too. He also collaborated with them to battle Father
Thank you so much for your take on pride, it's something I've talked bout for years and never seen any other reactor point out, that the epitomy of Pride is represented by a spoiled, arrogant child
One way to look at Selim is to look at Envy. When Envy was drained to that of a singular soul, it had that tiny lizard form. Same with Selim. That is the form of the singular soul of Selim “Pride” Bradley.
Just for context, the ability of Ed to turn himself into a Philosopher Stone was something he picked up when he was stuck inside Gluttony when he transmuted himself using Envy's stone
So how pride works is: he is the fetus, just like envy was the little worm thing. The boy selim was basically a hollow shell, with shadows and souls filling in the space between like a water baloon. By stressing his shell by forcing open roy's gate he was falling apart because the sins weren'tmade to do alchemy. To save himself, he was going to slip into ed because it was kind of a blood type thing. By doing that, he opened a 2-way door, which ed used to turn himself into a one-man philosopher stone. By shoving himself through, he could attack the main bit of pride, allowing all the xerxes souls and kimblee to leak out
“Wrath will make you blind”. Maybe as a metaphore as how sometimes people act before they think, when they are so “blinded” by their anger that they just impulsively do things no matter who gets hurt.
I would call What you said about god striking down bradly a reach at all. He literally is yelling that god doesn’t exist and tries to say that there most have been a moment where scar didn’t believe a god existed at all. And then the sun blinds him. "God" eventually did strike Bradley
Just like Envy, Pride was reduced to the smallest amount of soul mass/matter able to host his consciousness, a "true form". Pride was the oldest but most child-like(save Gluttony) of the homunculi, so I think it makes sense for his true form to be a regression into a baby.
I like bit about fuhrer's wife and Lanfan reaction to it. Because she probably will be wife of the ruler in the future too. I dont know what thoughts exactly but itss definetly gave her some thoughts. Mb I just overthinking but for some reason I very like that moment
Despite Wrath being aligned with father, he both enjoyed and hated when life surprised him simultaneously. He also was able to make some of his own decisions independent of father's grand plan (like choosing his wife).
One thing I would have maybe liked is if the sound returning happened later, it seemed to just fix itself right away, then you could also still have so consequence of what father did, say he used up 10,000 or so souls so there is still a heavy death toll without it being completely apocalyptic
Aside from what the other comments mentioned about Pride, I've always thought that perhaps it's another reference to the definition of homunculus. It literally means "little man". As they said before, Pride looks like Father the most because he was the first sin to be extracted. And 'the Dwarf in the Flask' is an actual concept of how homunculi are kept. If I'm not mistaken, Paracelsus (Von Hohenheim irl) was believed to be the first one who created a homunculus. Or at least, its first mentions were found in his writings. It described the method of creating homunculi, which sounds similar to growing a fetus, except artificially.
I've seen Kimberly placed as Chaotic Evil on D&D alinment charts for FMAB, however I believe Kimberly is Lawful Evil. Lawful, in D&D, doesn't actually mean they follow the law. What Lawful means is that the character has a set if rules, or a code, that they follow, while this can include the law, it doesn't have to. Kimberly does have his own code, he values, or rather has respect for, people that hold true to their convictions, and dislikes hypocrosy. He revels in death and distruction, and accepts that this means his own life may also be cut short. He won't just go to a random village or farm and destroy everything and everyone, he has reasons for why it's this group of people, and that place. He's willing to follow orders from others he has aligned himself with, and has already aknowledged and accepted the risks involved
"She is the woman i chose to live by my side. There are no more words that need to be passed between us now. that is what it means to be the wife of the fuhrer" this is one of the strongest lines showing bradleys character. the dudes faith in himself and his position is absolute, and his every choice is meticulous and deliberate
I saw the Humunculuses deaths less as a consequence of their Sin, but moreso as ironic twists that contridict their Sin and personality... (though those two overlap at several points) -Lust burns out -Gluttony gets devoured -Envy kills himself full of self pity and humiliation -Sloth dies after going all out and actually trying -Wrath dies peacefully -Pride learns humility and lives humbly in the end -Greed sacrificed himself selflessly
If no one has mentioned it yet, id assume how ed was able to beat pride is a nod to a movie from the original Full Metal Alchemist series. Al is able to attach parts of his soul to objects and can control them and speak through them. Im guessing its that technique ed used where he was transferring his soul into pride with his individuality intact to destroy his stone. Thats what ive always figured it was anyway.
The set up for this was done in Episode 41 where Ed uses his own soul as a philospher's stone to heal himself and shave off some years from his life. That's literally what he did here.
I don't know how many videos back it was when you were having reservations about Kimby I left a comment that you responded to assuring you that he had a discernible moral compass that he stuck to and that he ultimately would be a very interesting character. This is the episode I wanted to bring up but obviously couldn't since it would be a huge spoiler for the end of the series. Yes Kimbly not only has a moral code and is not only just as committed to it as the protagonists but arguably maybe even more. He believes in purpose and prioritizes fulfilling your role and staying true to yourself above All Else. When he sided with the homunculi he was in it for the Long haul and even though he was able to maintain his independence within pride he was perfectly content going along with Father's plan to become God and kill Amestris. But the moment pride compromised himself and was willing to literally throw away his pride his namesake and a stoop to relying on a human body, Kimbly could not tolerate that. Kimbly is a genuine psychopath but I just can't help but love the character that committed to their own version of morality that they would never compromise.
I'm not sure if it would help solidify your opinions on Kimblee but there is a great video (in my opinion) by Aleczandxr called "Solf J. Kimblee - The Psychopathic Realist" that does a great job breaking down Kimblee's character.
I think my issues with him were sort of broken into two areas, one being that in general, I dislike his ideologies and whatnot which always made me have a distaste for him. But also, I didn't understand some things he did/felt at times his words were inconsistent. That might have been caused by, again, me not being one to think like him. But I do understand more now than I did, I cover it a bit in the post-series character Tier List.
Also, shout out to Kimblee! (Plus as others have pointed out, Ed turning himself into a stone is basically what happened when he treated that mortal injury after that fight with Kimblee.)
Lust died on the hand of a womaniser Wrath died calm and satisfied Gluttony got eaten Envy suicide Greed sacrificed himself Sloth died during hardwork Pride died humiliated
now this espisode to me explains exactly why their plans started to fail.. and why bradley stayed hidden and let lust die.. the efforts the humans made that cause some problems and change of plans.. is what made the little fun that bradley had in life .. under lust.. she was a completely unit in making sure everything was controlled and why roy ed al and crew never got a single one up advantage.. and they would have DIED in that room had wraith helped cause lust would still kill al and roy.. remember she is the ONLY one that understood candiates/scarifices can be replaced if the current ones are just too dangerious.. wraith i feel actually WANTED THIS.. so he had a choice to make.. help her to which she would then kill AL Roy Hawkeye regardless of what bradely wanted.. thus thats a wrap.. they win.. no more challenges and unpredicablity that wraith got his only enjoyment out of.. OR let her die .. and get what happened in teh story where he can at least still get those bits of what he though made life worth living for and dying.. human stubborness.. theres a reason why that scence happened where bradley showed up and decided to sheath his sword and walk off as if he was never there which lead to lusts death.. SHE HAD TO DIE.. wraith lowkey would be a TRATIOR.. salem even later said his views are "treasonious" if father heard it during that scene outside in the dark where we heard wraith speaking to prides voice.. here i think pride didnt tell because as we see in the espisode.. he truely view wraith more as a "father" then father himself along with miss bradley as a mother... so yes bradly is an amazing character.. butt what makes him better written character imo.. he commited "treason" himself and betrayed his own "sister" aka lust.. he literally let her die cause he NEEDED HER TO DIE just so he can get some enjoyment out of life cause her being out the picture means plans will not be solid/fool proof... remember.. very important.. lust was correct and 100% ok with killing sacrifices.. thats the reason PRIDE and WRAITH ultimalely lost.. they wouldnt do it.. they refused at every level to do what should have been done.. kill them cause they are just to dangerious.. so this to just makes bradely a better character cause cause it reveals hes not as "logical/rational" as he thinks he is and gave into his emotions .. and tbh at the WORST TIME.. that scene with LUST change the entire direction of the show.. xD its all wraiths fault.. hes the push of the snowball effect down hill.. xD he now had to take up ded lust role as "leader" and "management" he did a terrible job... leaked info after leaked info.. hawkeye geting hold of info under his watch on him and salem numerious times.. how he misused gluttony and lead to gluttonys capture.. same with envy.. lust no shot would have had any of that happen.. so i feel strongly.. that scene and that choice directly explain all he did and said in this video... that would have never happened had he aided his sister.. HE NEED HER .. NO... WANTED HER TO DIE.. thus he had a bit more "choices" to make with his life.. so in a sense it makes him a more pathetic petty character.. butt overally adds to his great character writting cause flaws in characters make better characters... remember he was finally free to let lose and go ham with is nature/wraith at full display.. prior to this.. cause lust was running everything in the back ground(father was lazy remember he didnt do anything except sit there) wraith was literally just there to LOOK THE PART as leader and order soldiers to fight.. so here his job required him to in a way watch and oversee things he wanted to butt couldnt do.. thats FIGHT TO THE DEATH ON BEHALF OF HIS OWN LIFE.. aka LET LOSE HIS WRAITH ON A WORTH OPPENENT.. conclusion: LUST HAD TO DIE TO GIVE BRADELY THE TINY FREEDOM TO HAVE HUMANS STAND A CHANCE AND OPPOSE HIM AND HOPEFULLY PUT HIM INTO A TRUE LIFE OR DEATH SITUATION.. stil dont think most fmab fans after all these years realize just how central lusts presense or lack of it was to most of the characters.. so wraith in my opinion is indeed a better character cause of all the above.. its tied to lust and her absolute control of all situations which in every way represented wraiths safe cushiony life where he couldnt life a finger to do what he wanted... till after her death..
when u think of Pride fetus.. think Envy bug/worm thingy.. envy always was the bug .. all his body forms where just "suits" .. remember when we first saw envys "true mini form" he phsyciall came out of his "bodys" head pride is the same.. he is and was always that fetus.. while the body in away like envy is just a "external suit" that father gave him to LOOK THE PART.. this is why only pride and envy can STEAL BODIES.. aka pride just like envy can take their "true mini forms" and go into another body.. id assume prides "shadow form" is exactly like envys "giant form" in short prides "body/vessal" was breaking apart and the fetus pride(true form) was just gonna literally inject itself in to Ed's head.. probably killing ed in the process... butt unlike envy mini true form.. prides true form is useless.. it needs a "suit" aka a body to be in again i cant confirm this... butt im trying my best to make a logical case for explaining this.. and envy is a good example cause they are very similar in ways.. both have true forms that are inside the typical body they use.. both can confirmed live outside it butt pride seems useless without a body while envy isnt useless.. both can as of now can clearly STEAL BODIES.. so they function essentionally very similiar to each other... ======== also i to love kimbley as a character butt i still think he is actually a moron and hypocrite himself.. so as much as i love his character as villian i dont at all see him as "smart" like many do.. lot of his points are base arguments and lines of reason... butt thats OK cause thats reflective of REAL LIFE.. people make and believe in things for bad reason. by bad i mean they cant really undertand or make good arguments and insteand make all kinds of fallacious errors.. thats good though.. it makes for good villians cause its reflective of real humans and how we think.. lot of the times is flawed reasoning... btw... i been watching fmab reactions for years.. ur by far the one that gave me tons of new perspectives and ways to take things that happened throughout the series that i didnt think of.... xD so thx for all that...
I think Kimblee is one of the most consistent characters in the series, he respects the persistence in one's goal no matter the concequences to himself or others. I think for Kimblee specifically, responsibility is a cornerstone to his character, he knows what he does is monsterous and evil at its core. But he makes a point of remembering everyone he kills, and then he conveys that to Hawkeye who also participated in the war of extermination. And while it scarred Hawkey, Kimblee was unphased because his outlook remained the same. Kimblee embraced the chaos and horror of death and war where others would shield their eyes. He's probably the most honest and consistent character through the show despite the fact that it takes so many episodes for him to spell out his reasoning. That's my take on him as a character, I'm curious to know what others think.
To me .... the only problem with THE PROMISED DAY ... is Pride's demise, it came out of left field to be honest, Kimbley preventing Pride from killing Ed, and being defeated my Ed also makes sense and its cool, but the rest, is honestly even a bit dumb.... But this looks even worse since it comes Right after Bradley/Wrath's death, which was masterful
you definitely are not reaching. the meaning is ambiguous but none of it was coincidental. the relationships between the homunculi and the people they interact with are all done for a purpose. without bradleys genocide, scar wouldn't have been who he needed to be in order to save the world. neither would mustang. all three of them were balancing their rage and their heart throughout the story. each representing different outcomes. this show is all about chosen paths and dualities. i also like the connection between father and his children and hoenheim and his children. ed and al both represent the best and worst of hoenhiem. just like fathers homunculi represent the best and worst of him. but what matters most isn't what you are given or whats done to you; it's all about what you choose to do with it.
also ed and pride, ed's greatest sin is his arrogance. ed met god and still claims to be an atheist. and the true form of Fathers first child is a tiny fetus, what hoenheim wanted most was a family. pride and ed both represent hoenhiems greatest desire
So now I ask you:
What did you think about Bradley in the end? Did you views about him change at some point? Would love to hear your thoughts.
an intresting interpretation of hitler, lol
ok now real talking, i struggled to understand what he meant with "we have nothing else i need to say that's what it means to be the fūhrer's wife" i understand now that he means something among the lines "she should already know i will die in duty, and make peace with it, just like i did" wich i hope so
him not making a fuss about his own death just like with huges funeral, as well as the smite from the sun and moon together representing god, quite poetic
I mean I also love the line before he is blinded. “There is no god in this world at all” and then boom the symbol of god blinds him.
Yup, I was gonna say the same thing then I saw ur comment. It always hits me in the feels for some reason
And they put the Rain theme song at that exact moment makes the scene so powerfull. I almost cry everytime i watch the scene
Ed's ideology of not killing is so strong that instead of killing pride, he reduced it down to its original soul and state. he basically gave pride a chance to live as a normal human
"I have done what I set out to do: Acquire God."
"Why don't you acquire some bitches?"
Dude needs to acquire a set of dumbbells by the looks of things
Great analysis but you forgot one:
- Greed, the one who wanted everything, learned to share all he had, including his own body, for the sake of others.
And then like all the other homunculi he dies with a fatal case of irony. He is that peace, even smiling satisfied with his life
I think the scene with Bradley's death works on a lot of levels, like you said.
DERP!)
so, Ling took over when greed lost his wants and Kimblee took over when Pride lost his value
🤔 Interesting...
Bradley grabbing that sword with his teeth, I swear man. I about lost it.
Father nerfed the whole nation. To keep alchemy in check. So humans couldn't do too much and feel desperate to do human transmutation
I highly recommend these 2 amazing videos on youtube :
-The Philosophy and Contradictions of King Bradley
-Solf J. Kimblee - The Psychopathic Realist
Bradley: there's no god
God: you call?
And his envy taking the form of a small lizard shows us how pathetic and ridiculous he saw himself when he was still a dwarf in the flask.
tldr; basically the sins are a representation of what he wants others to see him as while the fetus and lizard are the true representation of what he is (weak and pathetic).
white suit is not fashion... it's part of kimbley's soul...
some say he came out wearing one, even.
There where two anti transmutations, the one from Hohenheim to bring back the souls, that was his alone. The Ishvalen transmutation was the transmutation that stopped Father from blocking alchemie and was giving all the Alchemists their full Power to use.
And that was most likely the level of power the people Xerses had also
To explain Ed's transmutation, he has seen the truth 4 times now and has full access to tectonic energy. All that coupled with him using souls before and his own life energy gave him to knowledge to purge energy similar to what Dr Marco did, but different
This is probably one of the few times i can think of where ive been excited for a Deus Ex Machina
Just to add, the "nameless" souls within Hohemheim isn't nameless.
ironically they are the opposite, the only thing they have beside their soul is their name
One way to look at Selim is to look at Envy. When Envy was drained to that of a singular soul, it had that tiny lizard form. Same with Selim. That is the form of the singular soul of Selim “Pride” Bradley.
Ed already turn himself into a philosopher stone before, when he healed himself when stabbed by that big column
10:01 Bradley the God denier getting defeated thanks to a sign of God : an eclipse.
By shoving himself through, he could attack the main bit of pride, allowing all the xerxes souls and kimblee to leak out
You nailed it with Bradley being blinded being an act of God.
It's very ironic that Wrath has such a peaceful ending. He's fought enough in his life anyway.
Especially because the sun is overtly said to be a symbol for God minutes before. The show is absolutely saying it was an act of God.
Just like Envy, Pride was reduced to the smallest amount of soul mass/matter able to host his consciousness, a "true form". Pride was the oldest but most child-like(save Gluttony) of the homunculi, so I think it makes sense for his true form to be a regression into a baby.
Bradley was so strong they needed a fucking deus ex machina to defeat him
That moment at 3:53 where the eyes of truth are awakened in the reflection of your glasses lol
I like bit about fuhrer's wife and Lanfan reaction to it. Because she probably will be wife of the ruler in the future too. I dont know what thoughts exactly but itss definetly gave her some thoughts. Mb I just overthinking but for some reason I very like that moment
actual interesting point. lot of interesting discussion to be had there, good job picking that out!
You’ve probably finished the show by now, Cast. Do you feel sad? All of my favorite things make me feel strange when I first finished them.
Yeah, definitely a bit. Episode 63 wrecked me especially.
@@CastSenpai yeah, 63 made us all cry
when you upload that ep i have some stuff to comment he he
Pff "I dont like how Father is chubby"
"You look awfully skinny"
Nothing is good enough for this pal smh /j
Selim in his last moments he realized how much he cares about Bradley and his wife
Kimblee's exit was legend. dude was a giga chad.
(though those two overlap at several points)
-Lust burns out
-Gluttony gets devoured
-Envy kills himself full of self pity and humiliation
-Sloth dies after going all out and actually trying
-Wrath dies peacefully
-Pride learns humility and lives humbly in the end
-Greed sacrificed himself selflessly
I liked the father with the pot belly more
he had the dad-bod. because he literally had a dad in him for a while.
Ed the goat, but he's even goat-er about how good he is with souls
Cast when you finish watching all ep can you do a overview of the anime, what you like and what you dislike
I did a Q&A where I did talk about my overall thoughts some. Will come once the series is over!
First. Very cool. Hard to fathom such power in one being
Befoer I forget it again. Do you know the tattoo on Lisa back have a real scientific formula and Thermodynamics thing in it. and something more.
Lust died on the hand of a womaniser
Wrath died calm and satisfied
Gluttony got eaten
Envy suicide
Greed sacrificed himself
Sloth died during hardwork
Pride died humiliated
All aspects of Bradley's life were chosen for him ... except his wife
If you need something lighter, the voice cast recorded some fun bloopers that are worth checking out
Saw it, reaction will come after the last episode. 🔥
now this espisode to me explains exactly why their plans started to fail.. and why bradley stayed hidden and let lust die..
the efforts the humans made that cause some problems and change of plans.. is what made the little fun that bradley had in life ..
under lust.. she was a completely unit in making sure everything was controlled and why roy ed al and crew never got a single one up advantage..
and they would have DIED in that room had wraith helped cause lust would still kill al and roy.. remember she is the ONLY one that understood candiates/scarifices can be replaced if the current ones are just too dangerious..
wraith i feel actually WANTED THIS.. so he had a choice to make.. help her to which she would then kill AL Roy Hawkeye regardless of what bradely wanted.. thus thats a wrap.. they win.. no more challenges and unpredicablity that wraith got his only enjoyment out of.. OR let her die .. and get what happened in teh story where he can at least still get those bits of what he though made life worth living for and dying.. human stubborness..
theres a reason why that scence happened where bradley showed up and decided to sheath his sword and walk off as if he was never there which lead to lusts death..
SHE HAD TO DIE..
wraith lowkey would be a TRATIOR.. salem even later said his views are "treasonious" if father heard it during that scene outside in the dark where we heard wraith speaking to prides voice..
here i think pride didnt tell because as we see in the espisode.. he truely view wraith more as a "father" then father himself along with miss bradley as a mother...
so yes bradly is an amazing character.. butt what makes him better written character imo.. he commited "treason" himself and betrayed his own "sister" aka lust.. he literally let her die cause he NEEDED HER TO DIE just so he can get some enjoyment out of life cause her being out the picture means plans will not be solid/fool proof...
remember.. very important.. lust was correct and 100% ok with killing sacrifices.. thats the reason PRIDE and WRAITH ultimalely lost.. they wouldnt do it.. they refused at every level to do what should have been done.. kill them cause they are just to dangerious..
so this to just makes bradely a better character cause cause it reveals hes not as "logical/rational" as he thinks he is and gave into his emotions .. and tbh at the WORST TIME.. that scene with LUST change the entire direction of the show.. xD its all wraiths fault.. hes the push of the snowball effect down hill.. xD
he now had to take up ded lust role as "leader" and "management" he did a terrible job... leaked info after leaked info.. hawkeye geting hold of info under his watch on him and salem numerious times.. how he misused gluttony and lead to gluttonys capture.. same with envy..
lust no shot would have had any of that happen..
so i feel strongly.. that scene and that choice directly explain all he did and said in this video... that would have never happened had he aided his sister..
"He is forcing his way inside of me" sounds so wrong, wonder if something was lost in translation.
banana bread
great point honestly
Poetic
when u think of Pride fetus.. think Envy bug/worm thingy..
envy always was the bug .. all his body forms where just "suits" .. remember when we first saw envys "true mini form" he phsyciall came out of his "bodys" head
pride is the same.. he is and was always that fetus.. while the body in away like envy is just a "external suit" that father gave him to LOOK THE PART..
this is why only pride and envy can STEAL BODIES.. aka pride just like envy can take their "true mini forms" and go into another body..
id assume prides "shadow form" is exactly like envys "giant form"
in short prides "body/vessal" was breaking apart and the fetus pride(true form) was just gonna literally inject itself in to Ed's head.. probably killing ed in the process...
butt unlike envy mini true form.. prides true form is useless.. it needs a "suit" aka a body to be in
again i cant confirm this... butt im trying my best to make a logical case for explaining this.. and envy is a good example cause they are very similar in ways..
both have true forms that are inside the typical body they use.. both can confirmed live outside it butt pride seems useless without a body while envy isnt useless..
both can as of now can clearly STEAL BODIES..
so they function essentionally very similiar to each other...
========
also i to love kimbley as a character butt i still think he is actually a moron and hypocrite himself.. so as much as i love his character as villian i dont at all see him as "smart" like many do.. lot of his points are base arguments and lines of reason... butt thats OK cause thats reflective of REAL LIFE.. people make and believe in things for bad reason. by bad i mean they cant really undertand or make good arguments and insteand make all kinds of fallacious errors.. thats good though.. it makes for good villians cause its reflective of real humans and how we think.. lot of the times is flawed reasoning...
btw... i been watching fmab reactions for years.. ur by far the one that gave me tons of new perspectives and ways to take things that happened throughout the series that i didnt think of.... xD so thx for all that...
This is probably the only show that can make me laugh and cry in one episode.
