- My attempt at fitting a centre stand to my mate's Versys. It's a bit of a mechano set and the instructions were in German and appalling. Some parts took several attempts before I got them assembled into the right order.
The stand came from here www.motea.com/...
WARNING : There is a design flaw. To fully retract the centre stand the side stand has to be out.
Hi, I would never have been able to install it without the video, thanks for the help!
Thanks for the instructions. Properly done, unlike the infos provided.
The issue I'm having that's stopping me from finishing up is the fact that the long screw seems to be too big and won't fit the hole. I can see that, for you, it went in easy peasy.
My recollection while filming that job was that I had to redo part of the install where I’d used the wrong screws and washers. We had to work slowly reading the instructions over and over again to get it right.
Good luck and thanks for watching.
@@NigelEaland It was my fault in the end, I didn't notice the correct hole. But all sorted. I even managed to get the spring first try using a long and very thin screwdriver.
Cheers, sir! All the best
@@colesthelol well done, particularly the spring as that was hard.
This is first class! My CFMOTO centre stand is almost exactly like yours so I have finally found exactly what I require to install it! Thanks for providing this installation instruction! Cheers!
Hi, I mounted a centerstand on a cf moto last year, ordered by Ali express, with easy install they said so no instructions 😢 I took me almost two days to mount it finally the right way, I wish I saw this video before it is almost the same way of installing, great movie anyway
Will be following these guidelines and hope Im able to install it just as smooth as you did. Thank you so much for sharing this video 🤗cheers
Great stuff, but would have definitely used 'Copperslip' on some of the pivot points, my CB500x stand became extremely stiff dur to corrosion of the main pivot pin.
Really helpful vid...I hope.I tried installing the spring on my 2020 H2SXSE+.EPIC FAIL.ALMOST got it to slide on there like yours, but didn't try the srewdriver angle that you have.Or the grease lol.Thanks...
thanks for Argentina for the tutorial.
Buen trabajo. Un video muy completo e instructivo. Tenía dudas sobre la validez de ese caballete, pero ahora están todas aclaradas. Muchas gracias.
Gracias por ver
Sucessfully installed by follow your video step by step. Also I manage to put the spring in place at first attemp, it took just 3 seconds thanks that I see your position with the screwdriver when you did it. Big thanks to you mate! really. :)
Well done Alex. That spring was a bugger until I figured the method.
Thanks bro, today i could get it fixed by a local mechanic ( centre stand ) by watching your video . It was very helpful. 🙏
Hi. Thanks for the video. Followed the instructions and was able to install the center stand today. One question: locatite only on that centerstand screw? Not needed on the existing screws on the motorcycle? On the long bolt? Cheers
Well it’s up to you. I loctite those bolts as they are critical to hold the stand on to the bike and they might work loose through the act of rotating and using the stand. I didn’t bother with the others as they are static fixings and if they are well tightened down I believe they won’t come loose. If you loctite all the screws and bolts it will make it very hard to get it apart again if you ever have to.
@@NigelEaland how hard did you tightened that long screw? Do you know the torque settings? I think I over tightened it… even heard a sound coming from the bike. I backed off some of the torque.
Nigel I know this video is 2 years old now but do you remember is the spring was lazy for a better word, fitted one today and seems like the side stand is doing a lot of work holding the stand up.
Something is wrong with the install. The spring was tough to get on and held the stand up well.
Just a thought. There are two springs, the smaller one screws inside the larger one. Are you using both?
Yes mate took them off and turned the small bracket round that holds them to the top bracket, still the same.
@@NigelEaland
@@paulbridgehouse7594 no idea what the problem is then.
Hi Nigel, very nice video! I just bought a used 21 Versys 650 which has been lowered by 25 mm. On the Motea website they write that this product is not suitable for lowered motorbikes. Do you think it would be an issue? I haven't seen this warning on other centre stands (i.e. sw-motech) but i imagine that the issue if relevant would also be pertinent there? What do you suggest I should do? I'm not very tall myself (5'7) but i can almost flatfoot it right now, so I think i could manage the versys 650 in it's original height, although less easily.
I’m no expert on this but given the warning and you say you are just about flat footed then I would take the warning seriously and raise the bike. I ride a BMW k1100lt and it’s tall enough that I’m on my toes but I can still handle it.
Does the 2013 Versys 650 use the exactly the same parts as 2018 Versys 650?? Or they are different??
I don’t know the answer. You will need to ask. The centre stand I fitted was designed for 2015-2021 models.
Does this stand eat up any useful road clearance?
I’m with the guy that owns that bike and he says no.
Thanks Bro!
Hi Nigel! Your video is probably the best guide for this purpose in the entire webside. THANKS
Which kit did your friend buy? sw-motech? T-rex racing? Can you provide a link? I'm living on EU so I hope I shall get lucky with the delivery options.
Also I read some people complaining about some weird interference with the side stand, did you notice something wrong? I see people reviews about center stand should be put up before the side stand or it will colide keeping the center stand not fully folded.
Thanks again!
There is a design flaw. The side stand has to be out for it to fully retract.

@@NigelEaland Thanks again Nigel! You rock!
Thank you for this Video, Nigel! The Instruktion Paper from motea is unhelpfull.
great video
So I will be getting a Kawasaki ninja 1000 SX Can a centre stand be fitted.
good job
Thank you for the instructions, I have one problem dough, after I finished when I tested the rear brake when I am riding and I want to get to a full stop and I press the clutch and the rear brake the gearbox makes a sound like then you are in N and try to put it in 1-st gear, any ideas what could have happened?
No idea. Is the chain slack and rubbing on the stand?
@@NigelEaland the chain is not loose, so it's not rubbing on the stand but the rear break is too tight now, so the breaking pads are continuously touching the break disc, not much but that wasn't the case before.
@@sergiufaragau5945 you need to look at how you assembled the stand on the brake pedal side particularly that all the spacers are correct.
Do you know if this stand/instructional are compatible with a 2021 Versys 650? Thanks in advance
Follow the link in the description and it says good for 2015-2021.
@@NigelEaland Thanks a lot!
I have 1 question though. Did the RHS main bracket also have another smaller bracket that attaches to the replacement engine/frame bolt & also screws to the main bracket with the 2 countersunk screws as on the LHS?
If you mean the little bracket seen at 9.27 that is the bracket the takes the spring. It just hooks on at the end and does not have the engine bolt going through it. See the bracket again when I fit the spring.
@@NigelEaland I must have though I saw 2 extra holes on the RHS main bracket ready for another engine/frame bracket. I’m delirious
@@stevesanelli90 I think those holes are where the foot brake bracket attaches.
Will this stand fit on the 2021 Versys 650?
Follow the link in the description and it says it fits 2015-2021.
Another question if you dont mind Nigel. I think I saw that Rik's bike got some kind of autooiiler for the chain maintenance, is that right? Do you got any recomendation or information about?
Hi Alex.
I asked Rik and this is his reply:
It is called 'Scot Oiler'
Retro fitted; at time of purchasing the bike.
I have had this fitted on every bike for the last 30+ years. It definitely improves chain wear.
@@NigelEaland Thanks! and also thanks to Rik
Your Beemer gone now Nige?
No. That’s Rik’s bike.
Ninja Kawasaki 1000 SX will be a 2022 model
Sorry David I have no idea. Suggest you talk to a dealer or do a Google search.
