Found you from your comment on Corporal's Corner and decided to check you out, and then subscribed! This video with your son reminded me of when my dad would take me out as a little kid to do fun stuff like this (or not so fun stuff that he found a way to make fun), and I would try desperately to help and make him proud. I probably made more work for him, but he never said so and always encouraged me further... he had 4 girls and no boys, but being a tomboy, I was the closest he had to a son. 😂 Great job on the video, btw... the picture-in-picture while cooking was pretty cool, and I was wishing I was there for the burgers (plastic American cheese and all, lol). Keep up the good work; your boy will appreciate these memories in the future, and will take on skills to help him be a good provider for his own family. Wishing you LOTS of success with your channel!!!
Thanks for coming over and checking out my channel! I do have to keep reminding myself that I'm doing these to make memories and teach my kids things. Because let's be honest, it would be a whole lot easier going by myself 😂 But it's good for me too, teaches me patience and gives me something to look back on in years to come, once they have left home. Over the past 10 years or so my love for cooking outside, especially over wood fire or coals, has grown. My other hobby is bbq. Instagram is Holy Roasters BBQ if you want to see. I'm trying to incorporate this into my outdoor channel too. Come summer time, I might try and do more long cooks in the vids. Anyway, thanks again for subscribing! Means a lot 😊
@@anotteroutdoors @An Otter Outdoors I love outdoor cooking myself, and hope to be as good at it one day as you and the other guys I watch... especially if things get bad enough in the world and we end up off the grid. Slowly, but surely, I'm getting better (had too many charred dinners so far 😖), but I wish I had paid better attention to the men in my childhood that were always in charge at the grill. There's just something great about cooking outdoors over a fire; the smell, the taste, the atmosphere... I have not yet been on Instagram, but will definitely check you out there! Take care, and have fun making memories! 😁
@@maryl3301 Yeah cooking over flames is the best. There's something primal about it. But it's the taste and the thought that ancestors before us used to do it the same way that does it for me. It can be hard when starting off, but there are a few key things that once you learn, you can cook anything. I might do a video on it one day. Thanks again 😊

Hey thanks for checking out my channel. Yeah about the cars, I work for a car dealership and basically take whichever car I want for the weekend. The old green Prado is the one I own
@@anotteroutdoors getting into the swag camping scene myself pretty much just getting started as I have not done so since I was a kid. but looking into it looks like we both have the same one lol the big daddy delux. hopefully it serves me well for a few trips. might start out with paying for sites and then look at free camping after I have a bit more experience with it. really love the videos where your out spending time with your son. at 37 now that is still some of the best memories I shared with my dad.
@@cootason yeah same swag haha. It's been ok, leaks a bit on the seams now so got to get that sorted. Yeah love taking one of the kids. I've got 3 kids and they take turns. Special one on one time with dad that they can remember when they get older.
@@anotteroutdoors nice !!! We are auckland but have a little cottage in turangi so spend lots of time out aroung the central area. Always looking for news spots and people to do missions. Ohope and inland is another of our favorites

Oh nice that tarp looks good for camping in the rain where'd you get the poles. I'll check out your other videos looks good.
The poles I got from a local hardware shop here called Mitre 10. They don't pack down small so no good for hiking but fine for car camps like this.

Thanks. This one is a 4m x 4m I believe. It is big, I'm thinking I might get a slightly smaller one too at some point.
