If anyone reads this, be sure to lubricate the door latch assembly and the inside of the actuator if you are replacing only the motor. I suspect bad lubrication makes these motors burn out prematurely. I had to do this repair twice because I didn't lubricate the first time.
THANK YOU! This is an amazing video! I'm even happy it showed what happened if you can't get the control rod to the external handle to disconnect inside the door. That exact thing happened to me so it was great showing how to remove that part too. THANK YOU again!
Very helpful video and straight forward thank 1a auto for always making those follow along videos with clear instructions. I also like how you guys go around issues that you might encounter and show it on the videos

The short answer is no. There are three screws that keep the actuator attached to the latch assembly. Much like in this video, I too had to remove the entire handle as the cable was jammed, so just be prepared to remove it all.
Great Vid! Unfortunately, it's just above my comfort zone. Would i go to a regular mechanic? I need both front actuators done. Any idea of cost? Detroit area.. Thanks so much for your help.
Helpful video but it would have been nice if you showed how to put the new actuator in because it can be very tricky! If you don't do it right. It's not going to work properly. Otherwise, good video

Hi @1aauto, the link to the part doesn't work, and I can't find it on your site. Can you please repost a link to the part for both the driver and passenger sides? Thanks.
Heck with all that my Avalon driver actuator doesn't work all the time sometimes it only moves a little bit and stops,I'll manually lock it instead of doing all this i figure its very similar, great video though
+M Nair Thanks for checking us out. We currently do not have an auto repair video that covers this particular repair. We will keep this request in mind in the event that we need to make this repair in the future. 1aauto.com
Thanks for the vid. I've done this a couple of times on my wifes 2010 Highlander after the second one, the drivers door (actuator that I replaced) will not stay locked. Get out shut the door (fob in purse) push the lock button on car handle, they lock and then the drivers side unlocks automatically. Open door hit the lock button or manually lock the door same thing it unlocks automatically. Any ideas? I'm at a loss...
+philbio75 We wouldn't be able to diagnose an issue like that here, you may want to have a local mechanic take a look at it. Thanks for checking us out! 1aau.to/m/Shop-1AAuto-c
First guess is a faulty actuator. Second guess is a setting related to locking/unlocking with key fob. ** Is there a second key or fob in the car? Some vehicles have a safety feature to help keep you from locking your keys in the car
+Bert Shimabukuro it looks like we don't currently carry this part for the 2007 model. We're always expanding our inventory, hopefully it's something we'll carry soon! Thank you for checking us out.

Excellent demonstration and camera work. Much appreciated!

14:35. When the arm with the yellow sleeve is installed, make sure it is pulled down. Mine was up, and the exterior door handle would not engage.
Good demonstration, before that it's drive me crazy to remove actuator,
Today I finished because of this video clip.
Well done! As good a DIY tutorial as I've ever seen....maybe even the best. Thank you!

Very helpful video.
Would this replacement solve the manual and power door buttons not being able to lock the door? The key will not turn as well.
Great presentation!! However, before I order parts, Can't the actuator be removed without removing the latch assembly?

Is this process exactly the same of the 2006 Highlander V6 AWD?
Where are you located, I have the same problem and needs to be fixed

Great video. But I am buying the non-integrated actuator so I want to know how to hook it up to the actuator body.

Can you provide the URL for the actual actuator? I can't find it on your website for a right side front door on a 2007 Highlander

Does the window have to be out???
is this aaron franklin??
I just replaced my tundra's door handle and the electrical lock and unlock stop working 😕
That's strange. You didn't detach and replace the door lock actuator from the lock assembly!
I still don't understand can you explain it again?
Nice vid wolfman, he shaved the back of palms right?
